"Happy Go Lucky" seeks to tackle the issue of gambling in a light-hearted yet touching manner. Hardcore gambler, Hock Lee Poh (Richard Low) is an ardent believer of Feng Shui, but is always down on his luck. His eldest daughter Donna (Patricia Mok), though petty and calculative, spends all her time and money on lavish nightlife and hunky social escorts - till she loses everything in the end. Fu Xin (Fann Wong), Poh's illegitimate second daughter is born at an extremely inauspicious hour and thus labeled as the "jinx" of the family. However, Fu Xin actually is a surreptitious 'Lucky Star' who always manages to turn unfavourable conditions into favourable ones. Fu Xin sacrifices a lot for the family. And in a twist of fate and luck, she unexpectedly helps Poh to win a hefty sum of money. Meanwhile, Poh and Donna find themselves stranded along the streets of Cambodia in a failed attempt to recoup their losses at the gambling tables.

My Comments: Today ME & Kimmy had decided to go for yet another movie day. We have chosen this cinema as our destination this week as it has been a very long time since both of us visited the cinema. Of course, Cathay Cineplexes (e @ Curve) is our perfect choice this weekend to catch the movie. We've chosen Happy Go Lucky as our movie and we hope that we would have yet another great laugh in cinemas. Let's go straight to the movie comments. Fann Wong once again starred in this movie and overall this movie is just moderate. It talks about gambling where it involved a father / daughter relationship which was damaged by gambling. As you know, gambling is not healthy for everyone and must strictly prohibated from doing it. Once you gamble, you must accept the fate that you might loss everything including your family. Fann Wong did a very good job in this movie where she tried to save her father from continuing to gamble. We did expect many jokes in this movie but it turned out to be otherwise. The jokes were pretty dull and doesn't impress at all. I must say the jokes are pretty lame as well. The storyline meanwhile was still acceptable where it still shows is some moral on the story and it's easy to understand and for those gamblers, you can learned from this movie on what is the caused thereafter gambling and so on. Only Fann Wong impress me pretty much on this movie. I would not so recommend you to watch this movie unless you are pretty bored and got nothing to do. Perhaps I would say previous Singaporean movie Being Human is much more better than this one. You judge yourself! MY RATING: 3/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3/5
