Food Hunt: Rendezvous Steak Garden

Good evening folks. It time again for yet another food hunt after a wonderful afternoon session on the cinemas with my brother Alan Leow. After watching movie at TGV Sunway Pyramid, I've decided to bring my brother for some cheap & affordable steakhouse in town where you can find it right here in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Although it took about 45 minutes to drive from Sunway to Cheras, I think for the sake of the viewers here, it's worth every cents. If there's good food, surely there will be no letting of chances including today's steak house. Me & my brother had decided to go to Rendezvous Steak Garden situated at Taman Billion, Cheras. It's also famous of its name Kaki Corner. We arrived at Rendezvous Steak Garden at about 7.00pm and the restaurant is not so packed at the moment. It also started to fill in with people at around 8.00pm. I've ordered Grilled Chicken Chop with Cheese & Ham as well as watermelon juice whereby one of my favourite drinks at the moment. My brother ordered Rib Eye Steak and kiwi juice. Please see pictures displayed.

Let me comment about my ordered dish. The Grilled Chicken Chop with Cheese & Ham was so tasty where there's rich in cheese and then the grilled chicken was just as tasty for its aroma. The ham was grilled as well and it was so nice. Overall, it was very nice and it's worth a try. The price of the grilled chicken chop is RM11.20 and the watermelon juice was very nice as well. The watermelon juice costs RM3.50. My Rating: 5/5

About my brother comments about the Rib Eye Steak, it was totally nice. No words can come out from my brother's mouth as it was so tasty. The black pepper sauce covered the whole Rib Eye Steak and the sauce was amazing as it's so rich in taste. The price of the Rib Eye Steak is RM18.90. The Kiwi juice also very nice and it's up to the expected level and the price is RM3.50. My brother said he will definately come back again to try for other food since it's very tasty. Alan Rating: 5/5

The bill came and it's about RM39.60 including service tax. It's still very cheap and value for money where you can find it here in Taman Billion. Other restaurants may costs you more (about RM20.00++ and above) but here you can find some average price of steak. We left at about 8.15pm and that time it was a lot of people since today is a public holiday. The restaurant is located around the Cheras roundabout connecting to Leisure Mall, Tesco Extra and U-Lek Garden. At Taman Billion, you can find several restaurants there but definately the first restaurant you must try is the Rendezvous Steak Garden. Stay tuned, we will try other restaurants there in near future.

News: RON95 to be at RM1.80, says minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — The RON95 petrol which will replace RON97 will be retailed at RM1.80 per litre beginning tomorrow, said Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who today launched the RON95 petrol. RON97 is being upgraded as a premium petrol with a price of RM2.05 per litre, said Ismail Sabri. “Petrol RON92 will be phased out given that its use is rather low that is around five per cent of the total petrol sales in the country. “In that regard, the government has taken the step to introduce RON95 to ensure that consumers benefit directly from quality petroleum products at a subsidised price,” he said in his speech at the Nationwide RON95 Launch here today.

He said the RON97 product would be in the market as a premium product as there were vehicles, especially high-powered vehicles, that needed it. Ismail Sabri clarified that the RON95 petrol price had to be raised by five sen from RM1.75 per litre as announced in May as the world fuel prices had changed. “However the price is the same as the price of petrol normally used by consumers now that is of RON97 (RM1.80 per litre). “Actually the price of RON95, if going by world markets, is RM1.89 per litre but the government does want the people to feel the rise so it had set the price at RM1.80,” he said. However, Ismail Sabri said the government expects to be able to reduce the subsidy by RM420 million per year with the introduction of RON95 as its subsidy price was lower at 38.81 sen per litre compared to the subsidy for RON97 which was 42.72 sen per litre. — Source : Bernama
__________________________________________________

My Comments: I am deeply dissapointed and frusfrated with the government decision to raise the RON95 petrol from RM1.75 to RM1.80 & RON97 petrol from RM2.00 to RM2.05. What is the meaning of Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan? It's all bullshit! This is a cheapskate decision from the government for doing that and I strongly oppose of what they are doing. Well, we shall say STRONGLY NO to the Barisan Nasional Government who did not help the rakyat and only cares about their ownself. I think we could not do anything now to prevent this but hope a new government will be brought in to replace the money minder Barisan Nasional government. SAY NO TO BN!

My Comments: Alright, today is Monday and it's Merdeka and since my girlfriend is currently on vacation in Cambodia, I spend my holidays today whereby I went to watch movie with my brother Alan at TGV, Sunway Pyramid. Today's pick of the week is cantonese movie Kungfu Cyborg. From the preview, it seems interesting and as I watch this movie I found it kind of interesting also. If you are looking for laughter, action sci-fi movie or even love story, this is the movie you are looking for. The storyline of this movie is just nice and the jokes that they made in this movie is pretty funny though and the sci-fi action movie is also not bad. Although not 100% perfect as expected, Hong Kong movies had been doing a great job by improving their graphics as well. A US$10 million movie, it also pretty dissapointed with the robots they use because they used kinda lame robots and not up to expectation (they try to imitate Transformers). Overall, it's not bad and if you are up to this one, I would recommend to you as well and see what's your last say. RATING: 4/5

Alan Comments: He told alexleow-kimmy.com that this movie is funny but the robots that used in this movie is not up to expectations. He also explained that the cost of the movie US$ 10 million should be used wisely to develop a more nicer and powerful robots and not just a simple and lame robots. Overall he said that it's still worth watching but kinda dissapointed with the sci-fi action as he had expected more. RATING: 3/5

News: Festive air marks Malaysia's 52nd Merdeka celebration

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — The national-level 52nd Merdeka celebration today was a brief and moderate affair in view of the influenza A(H1N1) pandemic and in observance of the Ramadan fasting month, but the occasion was not without the fanfare and spirit of independence with the participation of people of all races in line with the 1 Malaysia concept. Carrying the theme "1 Malaysia: People First, Performance Now", the event was held at Parliament Square instead of Dataran Merdeka, and was confined to a rally and performances without the usual parade of contingents and the participation of schoolchildren.

Nevertheless, Parliament Square, often the venue of welcoming ceremonies for visiting foreign dignitaries, was a scene of varied colours with the participants in their colourful attire as well as the members of the security forces in their respective uniforms. The rally began soon after the arrival of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah at 8am. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abd Rahman, arrived 10 minutes earlier.

The VIPs arriving for the rally were greeted by about 10,000 cheering flag-bearers lining the road for a distance of 1.38km from the roundabout near Bank Negara to Parliament Square. Among the flag-bearers were representatives of the National Service Training Programme (210 participants), ministries and public agencies (300), 28 contingents of statutory bodies (300), private sector organisations (992), teacher training institutions (3,500) and a contingent organised by the Information, Communication and Culture Ministry (5,000). Soon upon arrival, Tuanku Mizan took the salute, and the national anthem “Negaraku” was played by the Royal Malay Regiment central band led by Major Zailani Mohd Okhtat. At that time, seven helicopters of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) flew past overhead, bearing the Jalur Gemilang national flag, the Armed Forces flag, the flags of the Royal Malaysian Army, the Royal Malaysian Navy and the RMAF, the Royal Malaysia Police flag, and the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) flag, as they spewed smoke trails in red, blue and yellow — the colours of the national flag.

Tuanku Mizan then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by four officers and 103 men of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment under the command of Major Mohd Radzi Othman.
As the “Negaraku” was played, the Jalur Gemilang was raised and a 14-gun salute was fired. This was followed by the reading of the Rukun Negara (National Ideology) pledge by seven academicians representing all the major races in the country, led by Norazmi Baba. Also joining in the reading of the pledge were 52 representatives of the academic community dressed in the attire of the various communities, as well as 500 members of the security forces led by Lt-Col Hishamudin Jumat Abas Jumat. The gathering then gave seven shouts of "Merdeka" as well as "1 Malaysia: People First, Performance Now", the shouts reverberating throughout the square and enticing the public to join in as they followed the event from outside the premises of Parliament. There was also a choir performance of the patriotic song "Malaysia Tanah Airku" by the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti). Suara Warisan (Koswa) of the Royal Malaysian Navy in Lumut concluded the 40-minute event with a choir performance as 200 people staged a cultural dance. Source - Bernama 31/08/09

Festival: Happy 52nd Merdeka Day Malaysia

Happy Birthday!

Today marks the 52nd birthday for Malaysia and alexleow-kimmy.com would like to take this golden oppotunity to say Happy Birthday Malaysia. After 52 years of independance, we could see the changes that had been brought from the government and we hope that this year would be the same as we keep changing from good to best and towards excellent. This year's theme, 1 Malaysia, Rakyat Diutamakan, Pencapaian Didahulukan shows that the government efforts to raise the standards of the people and the performance is also as much important as the people.

This year Merdeka celebrations would be kept minimal because due to the H1N1 flu that spreads widely in the country and it's not advisable to go in large groups and crowds. Besides it's the Ramadan month as well. There will be no celebrations in the city for countdown as all the premises such as Bukit Bintang & KLCC had cancelled their plans to hold any concerts that can draw large crowds due to the diseases that are spreading widely. There will be no fireworks display as well on the Merdeka Celebrations. Today National Day parade will also be held at a restricted place and with a limited time also. This year celebrations scheduled to be held at Bukit Jalil Stadium had been moved to the Parliament House and limited to some 8,600 people who are allowed to participate in this year's National Day parade. It will be lasted about 40 minutes of parade. FYI, there will be no road closure for today's parade in the city and city dwellers can drive in the city freely without any obstacles.

With all the barrier above, it will not dampens Malaysian spirit to celebrate our 52nd Independance Day and we hope that more changes can be done to make Malaysia in the eyes of the world yet again. SELAMAT HARI MERDEKA Malaysia!

Leisure: One Day Trip To Melaka

Today is Saturday and me & Alan had planned to go for a short visit to Melaka. We started our journey at 9.30am from Kuala Lumpur and reached Melaka at about 12 noon. Firstly after parking our car, we go to have our lunch first at Famosa Chicken Rice Ball. We ordered chicken as well chicken rice balls and vegetables. After our lunch, we went to The Ship in Melaka town where this place is a museum inside the ship. Just step inside the ship and you can actually see the history of the ships who travel and used to land in Melaka before. The admission fees is RM3.00 per person and there's a lot of things to see inside with lots of information about the history of Melaka. Besides, when entering inside the ship, you need to take off your shoes and no shoes are allowed inside the ship gallery.

After that we went to A Famosa to take photos. We also do climb up the stairs to yet another masterpiece of A Famosa up the small hill where here you can enjoy the beautiful sea view of Melaka as well as partially Melaka town. After that, just about 300 meter down hill is the Stadhuys Melaka. Here we also took some photos and of course, the attention should go to the famous red building in Melaka. There you will also get to see the beautiful paintings of Christ Church Melaka. After that, we go took our car and then we go and visit Bukit China. There, you can see actually find the Hang Li Poh well where there are tonnes of history lies behind this well.

At about 5.30pm, then we reach the Capitol Satay to enjoy the satay celup in town. It's a very famous satay celup in town and as I said earlier, this restaurant will be very packed after 5.00pm whereby it just started business. You will have to queue up about 30 minutes at least to get a place and the queue would be about 100m long. We left Melaka at about 7.15pm and reached Kuala Lumpur at about 9.45pm. It's a wonderful and tiring day for me and I hope we will visit Melaka again. Check out some partial photos here where I took from various places and for those of you who like to view my full photos, kindly visit my Facebook.

Food Hunt: Restoran Famosa Chicken Rice Ball & Capitol Satay Celup, Melaka

Hello folks,

Restoran Famosa Chicken Rice Ball

Finally today I manage to plan a short trip with my brother Alan and we have planned to go to Melaka for some food hunt. In fact, besides food hunt, I did bring Alan downtown to Melaka to visit some of the historical places in Melaka. It was an amazing but pretty tired day as I am still yet to recovered from my sick yet. But I still managed to go travel and hunt for food! Eat first, think next! Haha! We departed from Kuala Lumpur at about 9.30am and reach Melaka about 12 noon. The roads were all clear and no traffic jam despite the long holidays ahead. But I assume it will be a massive jam on Sunday and Monday as well. So plan your journey ahead ya! Just after we arrived at Melaka, we parked at the coupons parking bays and next to the Police Station (see how safe it is!).

Then, straight we went for the food hunt. The shops that we went to have our lunch is Restoran Famosa Chicken Rice Ball. The restaurant design was an old fashion China palace where the king lives. It was so nice and as you eat, you can feel you are enjoying your meal at the king's palace in China. The dishes that we've ordered is 1/4 of kampung & roasted chicken (mixed), a vegetable (choi sum) and 10 pieces of round chicken rice balls. Speaking of the taste, the round chicken rice balls was nice and perhaps you need to eat it with the chilli's provided since the original chicken rice balls is plain. About the chickens, both roasted and kampung chicken was nice and both of us enjoy the meal as well in the afternoon. It was something special that we seldom find in Kuala Lumpur. The price of the bill including 2 drinks (Fresh Orange & 100 Plus) is RM28.60. It's not expensive at all and it's calue for money. Do check out the pictures ya. Alan & My Rating: 5/5

Capitol Satay Celup

In the evening, after visit the places in Melaka, we have decided to make a stop to try out the most famous satay in town called the Satay Celup. It's first of its kind in Malaysia that you can enjoy the satay celup (look look in cantonese) in the shop itself with a comfortable seats. OK. This is something that I would like to warn you guys about. The business hours starts at 5.00pm and especially during the weekends and public holidays, I advised you go to as early as you can or before 5.00 because after 5.00pm (once the restaurant start it's business), you can see a 100m queue from the restaurant & the restaurant is already packed with customers. Me & Alan arrived at about 5.20pm and we have to start queuing up already and it took us about 35 minutes to get a place. Well, finally we have tried the satay celup and this is how it works. It is self service as you will need to take yourself whatever you want to eat (like buffet style). But each sticks costs about RM0.70 and besides the sticks, you still can find some other dishes in plates like Dim Sum, crab sticks etc.

Once you have get the food, then you may put the food sticks inside the pot filled with Satay sauce. Many people say, the restaurant serves the most tasty satay sauce in town where other shops could not provide. Basically, I can see other shops was like no business at all or only 1 or 2 visitors came but for Capitol Satay, it was crowded like nobody's business. OK. Now it's time for me to give some comments on the food. The satay sauce that I've tried was amazing and it was added with some additional herbs inside and this makes the food sticks that was filled with satay sauce very tasty. The food sticks and plate food was very fresh as well. Same as Alan, he also told me the same and it was marvellous. Both of us keep on talking after the meal as we had never experienced before in life. The food bill came and it's RM39.40 (Including 3 cans of 100 Plus) & it's value for money once again. Check out the photos. Alan & My Rating: 5/5

Food Hunt: Just Thai Nudle House & Cafe, One Utama

It was a fine Tuesday evening. Today I had attended a training at Amcorp Mall (3 days course) and I arrived early at home bout 5.00pm. While planning and waiting to have dinner with my brother, then we finally make a decision to go to 1 Utama to look for delicious food. Well, besides looking for delicious food, I planned to go shopping there as well and bought some daily utilities.

After looking at the Food Directory inside One Utama around 7.45pm, my brother was suggesting thai food and he also said that the food in Just Thai was nice and asked me to try it out. OK! Without any hesitation, me and Alan had walked straight away to Just Thai. The decoration was superbly decorated and it's a cozy place and romantic place for couple as well. There are certain seats that contains a pillow each for your comfort to lean or to hug against it. Once I look at the menu, the price of the food overall was not as expensive as we went to De Chiengmai earlier on for Thai food. The fish, pandan chicken and other dishes price was slightly lower than De Chiengmai. Just Thai also served steam rice with plenty of dishes to choose from ranging from ala carte rice dishes, noodles and fried specilities.

I have ordered Steam Rice with chilli sliced chicken toppled with egg (see pictures below) and Alan ordered Tom Yum fried rice with drumstick (see pictures below). For drinks, we've ordered 2 sky juice this time because I had enough of sweet drinks as for today. There's a lot of varieties of drinks to choose from but it's a bit pricey for the drinks ranging from RM8 - RM10. The steam rice with chilli sliced chicken toppled with egg was very nice and it was extra spicy as well. The taste is there and since I like spicy food, no doubt that this dishes suits me perfectly. Thumbs up! This dish costs RM14.00 Meanwhile I did try my brother's Tom Yum fried rice with drumstick and it's very nice as well. My brother who took the Tom Yum Fried Rice with Drumstick told alexleow.kimmy.com that the tom yum rice was absolutely nice. The dish costs RM13.00. The bill came total plus service charge is about RM32.20 and it's value for money. You pay for the food and since it's nice & delicious, don't mind paying it. My Rating: 5/5 ; Alan Rating: 5/5

News: PAS wins by big margin

By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

PERMATANG PASIR, Aug 25 – PAS’s Mohd Salleh Man has won the Permatang Pasir state vote here in Penang by a big majority of 4,551 votes. Official results show Mohd Salleh polled 9,618 votes while Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Rohaizat Othman received 5,067 votes.
The win for PAS was widely expected as the seat is within Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Permatang Pauh parliamentary stronghold. Despite a massive onslaught by BN/Umno that was marked by heightened racial rhetoric, Rohaizat’s campaign had been a disaster from day one.
On nomination day, it was revealed that he was a disbarred lawyer because of misconduct involving a client’s funds amounting to RM161,000. The entire campaign was dominated by the scandal with BN on the defensive.

But PAS’s majority today, just short of last year’s 5,433 margin when the turnout was higher, suggest the status quo in terms of support for both PR and BN remains the same. Today’s turnout was 73.1 per cent compared to last year’s 82.57 per cent. PAS’s handsome win also appears to indicate that in PR’s own backyard, they are unbeatable. The win also comes despite Umno’s attempt to portray Anwar as a traitor to the Malays, while simultaneously playing the race and religion card. If Permatang Pasir is any gauge, Umno’s attacks have not gained much traction on the ground except among its own core supporters. The results of today’s by-election suggest a hardening of support on both sides of the political divide as PAS’s relentless attacks on Rohaizat’s candidacy also did not seem to have gained the party more votes. Today’s win marks the seventh win out of eight by-elections PR has contested in since the March 2008 general elections. Most of the contests had been in PR-held seats, while the one vote in which BN won was in Batang Ai in Sarawak, which the ruling coalition had held. Source: The Malaysian Insider 25/08/09

My Comments: Today I went to watch this movie at GSC Berjaya Times Square. I arrived at about 3.30pm and bought the show ticket at 5.20pm. Ok. Let's get straight to the movie. Overall, I would say this movie was good. Ermm...the graphics was nice and the storyline was great as well. It was a pretty good family movie and Carl Fredrikson appearance in this movie was simply awesome. Just a little critics on this movie that I need to say. It was all about the logics of this movie. It was a lil bit unlogic where a human can actually carry a wooden house and in addition with that, Carl Fredrikson was already very old in this movie. Maybe some of you taught, Aiyah! Just a movie right! But for me, basically I think for likea more family movie, it should be logic and make sense. If you have time, go and watch it as this is suitable for all ages and you can even go together as a family for this movie. Maybe you should forget about the logics and you can even have a laugh until your hats off. Recommended movie for all ages. :) RATING: 3.5 / 5
