Festival: Happy Mooncake Festival (中秋节快乐)

Hello to all readers of alexleow-kimmy.com :

Thank you for your continous support towards my blog and as day goes by, there are more and more visitors who came in and read my blog. Appreciate that you guys and girls could spend some time in visiting my blog and here I would like to take this golden opportunity to wish all Chinese a Happy Mooncake Festival. Mooncake Festival can be considered a big festival for the Chinese as they will celebrate it mostly at their homes. Normally, they will organize BBQ, steamboat or open houses to invite all of their fellow members and friends to celebrate this festivals together. During the modern days as well, they will also celebrate at restaurants where one big family gather together to celebrate the mooncake festival.

Of course the main course for this festival or event is to have mooncakes on the table. There are various mooncakes now in the market including various choices to choose from such as Fruits, Lotus Seed Paste (蓮蓉), Sweet Bean Paste (豆沙), Five Kernel (五仁), Snow Skin (冰皮), Jelly and many more that I could not list down here because the lists is too long. Mooncakes will be served on the table on the mooncake festivals day to mark the celebration. Besides, they will be lots of food serve on the table as you can see children's lighting up candles and tanglung's in front of the housing compound as well as prayers being held to pray for the moon. Chinese believe's while praying the moon, you will get wealth and prosperity as well as safety for the whole family.

During Mooncake Festival this year, I will be staying in KL with Kimmy as Kimmy's mother had prepared some food for us to usher the mooncake festival today. I hope I will have a wonderful time tonight and to all of you who are enjoying the mooncake festival just like me, enjoy yourself and remember don't drink and drive. HAPPY MOONCAKE FESTIVAL from alexleow-kimmy.com.

Food Hunt: Pasta Zanmai, Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt as today ME & Kimmy were at Paradigm Mall for shopping and movie and of course after doing all these, dinner is heading to our way and we have to choose which restaurant is best for us to dine in this time. Lastly, with our full consideration, we have chosen Pasta Zanmai as our choice this time and of course it's a Japanese based restaurant that serves Pasta and I guess many of you have tried it before. For those who have not, kindly take a look at the review below.

Menu Pasta Set
We reached the restaurant at about 7.30pm and there's very less crowd in the restaurant knowing today is a public holiday but still it's pretty empty. We immediately reached the restaurant and then were shown the seat by the waitress there. Then the menu is served and we browse the menu thoroughly and for about 10 minutes later, we have decided what to order. Actually there are many kinds of Pasta served over here with ala-carte or set menu. For set menu, you can choose 2 mini pasta and rice of your choice and that costs between RM20.00 to RM40.00 depends on what you order. If you order ala-carte alone, then you can choose either the mini or regular size. For that, since both of us are here for the first time, then we have decided to try for the ala-carte instead of the set. I've ordered the Tori Kino Cream Pasta (Regular) (RM23.00) while Kimmy ordered Seafood Tomato Cream Pasta (Mini) (RM16.00) and for drinks we've ordered a jug of Green Tea that can be shared for 2 persons (RM3.00) (Refillable).

It does not take very long for the food to arrive and let's go straight to the food reviews. The Tori Kino Cream Pasta is very nice indeed. What contains inside this pasta? It contains slices of crispy chicken, big & small mushrooms as well as cheesy cream that would melt in your mouth. It was nice considering if you are a big lover of cheese as the taste of the cheese is pretty heavy and make sure you can get rid of the smell and taste. The best comes from its Crispy Chicken that was fried into perfection as the chicken skin is the best. The regular portion that I've ordered is above average and just nice to eat for 1 person but by taking set menu, it's much more worth it as mentioned earlier. For Kimmy's Seafood Tomato Cream Pasta, it was nice too where the tomato taste is pretty heavy and there's a lot amount of seafood on the pasta too. She ordered a mini size and it's just nice for her as the portion is smaller and it's more suitable for kids to eat actually and since she's a small eater, that would be enough for her. For the Green Tea, it's worth every penny as it comes with a huge jar and it's refillable too. Overall the food that we've ordered is very nice indeed and I strongly recommend you to come over and try out this restaurant. Not only I say but a few of my friends including Dennis Lee and Alan Leow who also introduce me to this restaurant, saying that the food here is nice and very worth it especially if you ordered the set menu.

Green Tea (RM3.00 per jug)

Seafood Tomato Cream Pasta (Mini) (RM16.00)

Tori Kino Cream Pasta (Regular) (RM23.00)

The price that we have to pay is RM48.70 including a service charge of 10% and 6% Government Tax. Overall, I have to admit by ordering ala-carte is slightly expensive than you've ordered the set menu. But who cares as long as the food is nice and I do really enjoy the moment of great food with a nice environment too. Enjoy your dinner. MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

My Comments: Today ME & Kimmy were at Paradigm Mall for shopping and then we take this opportunity to watch a movie there as well. We have chosen the latest movie shown in cinemas which is the Resident Evil: Retribution. This movie is a continuous movie of the Resident Evil episodes and it promises to be better and more adventurous. Starring the big stars such as Milla Jovovich, Li Bing Bing and Johann Urb, this movie set to be yet another great movie of the year 2012 on top of it's classic zombies movie as well. The storyline does not dissapoints and it's better than the last chapter particularly in terms of actions that would changes everything. The action meanwhile is the best where it covers most from the start of this movie till the end of this movie. You can actually see how Milla Jovovich fight against the Umbrella Corporation counterparts which is harming the human race as it slowly becomes distinct. In the same time, you are eager to find out what is happening as the mission goes on and it's simply amazing and entertaining too with the zombies attacking them and the monsters. I would strongly recommend you to watch this movie and please be informed that this movie is rated 18SG and it's quite brutal (blood spurring everywhere) and it's not suitable for children to watch it. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

_______________________________________________________

My Comments: I watch this movie at home and I find this movie something special for me that I have not watch it before. This is a suspense yet funny movie to watch particularly some famous artistes acted in this movie. With the acts from Jack Lim, Rynn Lim, Landy Wen and Huang Qi Ming, this movie sets to be one of the most successful suspense movie in Malaysia. It was filmed in Kuala Lumpur and it talks about the triads who wanted to get the secret bank code that was embedded at a pen drive where it then involved the 3 gyus (Rynn Lim, Jack Lim & Huang Qi Ming) and they have find a way to escaped as the triads know that the 3 guys are keeping it. What will be the story about? Catch the suspense in this movie as the chase goes on and on. The storyline is very well documented and it gives it's audiences a guess on who is the person keeping the secret code. The jokes in this movie is limited presuming that this is a suspense movie and not much into comedy. It was a great movie to watch and this movie is just like those Hong Kong Triads movie but this one is slightly more into Malaysian Triads style. I would recommend you to watch this movie and I think you won't be regretting watching it as well. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Synopsis:

"We Not Naughty" is a poignant movie which examines the problems faced by parents with their rebellious children in Singapore's current society.

_______________________________________________________

My Comments: I watch this movie via DVD at home and guess what this movie is nice to see too. The moral of the story is very clear cut and it teaches and educate the society on how to be a good person instead of a bad person. This movie also shows a lot of moral values as well as the scenarios and thing currently happening on the Singapore Society now and in the past. Besides a great storyline and well documented story, this movie also contains several jokes that would laugh out loud and would not make this movie bored. There's very less action in this movie and the actions are pretty mild and not violent. Director Jack Neo is back again to direct this movie and in my opinion, he maintain his credibility and professionalism in directing this movie and it's overall very nice indeed. I enjoyed watching this movie throughout the 120 minutes and with the casts of Daniel Chan, Cherry Hsia, Shawn Lee and Eric Moo. All these artists acted well in this movie and the best comes from Cherry Hsia who I think acted very cool in this movie and the second best is from Daniel Chan where this is the first time I saw acting because his profession is into singing. Anyway, it's a great movie to watch for the whole family and you will not regret it as it teaches you good moral values. Enjoy. MY RATING: 4/5

Subtitle: Info Not Available
Genre: Comedy
Running Time: 1 Hour 36 Minutes
Director: Simon Sek

Featuring Singaporean funnyman, Mark Lee, this horror-comedy is a story of two opposites (Mark Lee and Maggie Shiu) who try to help three ghosts to fulfil their last wishes. During this journey, numerous events will bring both humans and ghosts closer, where friendships are formed and romance blossoms.

____________________________________________________________

My Comments: I watch this movie at home and here's a short review about this movie. This movie consists of Malaysian and Singapore artist and there's a Hong Kong Star Maggie Shiu Mei Kei who was in this movie as well. It talks about 2 forensic pathology who help three ghosts to fulfill their wishes. This movie is particularly a funny movie and it's not scary at all just like the title Ghost Buddies. The storyline is pretty simple and easy to understand. This movie is heavily spoken in Hokkien then any other languages like Mandarin or Cantonese. If you know how to listen to Hokkien, then it would be more funnier when they talk compared for those who just watch the subtitles. The storyline is very meaningful and it talks about help among humans and ghosts and the moral in this story in pretty meaningful and nice too. I would recommend you to watch this movie as the funny casts like Mark Lee and Lim Ching Miau really impress its audience with tonnes of laughter while Maggie Shiu Mei Kei doesn't look comfortable in this movie with her character and her spoken Mandarin Language as well. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Travel: Grand Lexis Hotel, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Travel and on this post today I am going to fully concentrate on giving you the comments and coverage about the hotel we stay in Port Dickson. I have booked a Deluxe Suite at Grand Lexis Port Dickson and planned to stay there for 2D1N as part of my vacation. Now, let me review about this hotel. This is a 5 star hotel in Port Dickson.

This hotel is huge and it has different types of room for you to choose including Deluxe Pool Villa, Executive Pool Villa, Premium Pool Villa, Grand Pool Villa, Garden Pool Villa, Sky Pool Villa, Deluxe Suite and Premier Suite where some of the hotels are located above the sea while some hotels are located at the grounds. If you opted to stay at high ground facing the sea, then Lexis Port Dickson is suitable for you and the building is situated next to Grand Lexis PD.

Let me review on the Deluxe Suite that we stay and it's situated at the grounds. This bungalow unit is 828 square feet big and it can accommodate up to 4 persons with 2 king size beds. The best part of this room is that it has a private swimming pool which has a 100% privacy for your honeymoon or part of your family holiday. There's also a dry kitchenette and a separate bath and toilet. You can enjoy either fan or air-conditioner as both are available at the units. There's a free wifi that you can use without any charges and if you are hungry, you can even cook using its own Microwave Owen. Unfortunately, the toilet does not have a bathtub and only standing shower. Overall, the toilet and bath are very clean and spacious too. It was a huge unit and we did enjoy our stay there. It was overall comfortable and we simply enjoy the bungalow unit very much indeed.

Besides we'll also walked out to the hotel surroundings and we even walked to the Deluxe Pool Villa units which is above the sea and the surroundings is very breathtaking as it has a nice view. The pathway to the units are clean and spacious too for the convenience of its customers. Those units are pretty small if compared to Deluxe Suite and it's only 677 square feet. There's also lots of recreational activities that you can do over there including Children Playground, Gymnasium, Public Swimming Pool, Archery Range, Karaoke Room, Board Games, KMX and Normal Bicycle Rental and many more. Some of these activities are chargeable at a small fee.

Last but not least is the breakfast buffet that was prepared by the hotel. The buffet breakfast is located at Duyung Restaurant at the lobby of the hotel. It can cater about 50 tables in house and the place was huge. The environment is very cozy and it's comfortable while enjoying our breakfast there. The most important thing is the buffet breakfast. There's a lot of varieties of food to choose from ranging from Western to our very own Malaysian food such as Nasi Lemak, Congee, Bread, Wedges, Baked Beans, Omelette, Fried Mee and many more and the food quality is good and it does not dissapoint. We had a great time enjoying our breakfast and I really enjoy the breakfast that take both of us about 1.5 hours to enjoy the food over there. Imagine how many plate of food we take! Hehe!

It was a great hotel with great facilities as a 5 star hotel and they simply deserves it. With the great facilities and rooms as well as the quality breakfast, I got no complaints on this hotel and it was simply marvelous. The price is reasonable and the price ranging from RM400 onwards to RM1200 per room per night based on the facilities we get. If I am given another chance, I will definitely choose this hotel again for another stay if I am going to Port Dickson again for holidays. A huge recommendation from me towards this hotel to all of you. Don't forget to "LIKE" alexleow-kimmy.com Facebook Page and you can view the FULL PHOTOS on Grand Lexis Hotel Port Dickson. May you enjoy your holidays. HOTEL RATING: 5/5 ; BREAKFAST RATING: 5/5
