Food Hunt: Jeti Seafood Restaurant, Pasir Penambang, Kuala Selangor

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy and the whole family had actually planned for an outing today and of course to go there for seafood feast. So, we've decided to check in Kuala Selangor as our destination today as Kimmy's Family and ME went there for a walk and then for food in conjunction with Kimmy's mother birthday. Of course, we also visited Bukit Malawati and right after that, we've headed straight over to Pasir Penambang for a seafood dinner. Can't wait for that actually.

We have chosen Jeti Seafood Restaurant located at the end of the road as you drive in the fishing village and this restaurant was fully packed even we reach there around 6.30pm. The tables are almost fully occupied but however we manage to pick a nice seat for ourselves and we manage to sat just beside the river and the view was simply breathtaking. We can enjoy our dinner and in the same time enjoy our beautiful view as well. Let's see what we've ordered. We've ordered the Oyster Omelet (Hor Jian), Sweet Crab, 3 Big King Vegetables, a Vegetable (Nai Bak), Assam Fish and a plate of 'Mantou'. The dishes we ordered seems delicious and suits our taste as well. The portion we ordered is medium size which can cater 5 person. It takes about 10 minutes for the food to arrive and I would say it's fast anyway.

Mantou & Nai Bak

3 Big Kings Vegetables

Sweet Sauce Crab

Let's see the food comments straight away. The Oyster Omelet (Hor Jian) is nice as well as the sauce too. It's sweet and tasty and the oyster is pretty fresh as well. The sweet crab was pretty nice as well but I am not a big fan of crabs so I did not eat much. It's fresh and the there's plenty of flesh as well on those crabs. The 3 Big King Vegetables is very good as it's cooked together with Belacan and it's spicy too. A must try dish when you visit this restaurant. The Nai Bak Vegetables are pretty normal and nothing much to brag about. The Assam Fish meanwhile is fresh where we ordered the Pomfret fish and it's very fresh. The Assam sauce was very nice to drink as the sweet and sour is just nice. Another recommended dish to order. Last but not least is the Mantou (Bun). The bun is tasty and hot and it's best served with the crab sweet sauce. You are advised to eat it together as it will definitely satisfy you taste buds.

Assam Pomfret Fish

Oyster Omelet (Hor Jian)

The price is not too expensive considering the amount of food we've ordered. For 5 medium dishes plus a bun meal, it costs us about RM125.00. I think it's pretty reasonable as we get to eat seafood and most importantly the dishes prepared are overall nice to eat. What a meal to end a beautiful Sunday evening. I would recommend you to come over to Jeti Seafood Restaurant to try out the food over here as it would be delicious to eat. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: Bull Run Corner (牛魔王碳烧扒座), Bandar Manjarala

Dear All,

Fancy of some Western Food and among the best in town? Yes, you've found one and special thanks to Kimmy who introduce this place and it's located at the hearts of Bandar Manjarala. Since it's dinner time on a beautiful Saturday evening, ME & Kimmy had decided to dine in there. We had a tough time finding parking over there as we have to park quite far away and we walked towards the restaurant. We reached the restaurant at about 8.00pm and the restaurant is packed with the crowd and with no choice, we have to sit outside the restaurant.

We manage to sit down and then take a look at the menu. The service was good as there are several waiter and waitress standing outside to take our order. We browse through the menu and I found there's a lot of choices of Western Food ranging from Spaghetti to Poultry Chops. There's also set cater for you as well. I've ordered the Set One which consists of a main course, a drink and a mushroom soup + a mini bread with butter (RM19.90). For the main course, I've ordered the Grilled Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce, Umbra Plum for drinks and a mushroom soup + a mini bread with butter. For Kimmy, she ordered the Ala-carte Sizzling Chicken Chop with Onion Sauce (RM13.90) and for drinks she ordered Fresh Starfruit Juice (RM4.00).

The Grilled Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce is very nice and very special indeed. The chicken is easy to chew and it tastes like an imported chicken as it's very tender and juicy. The Mushroom Sauce is nice too and it's very special from others as it's white in colour and almost the same color as the mushroom soup and the taste is nice and special. For Kimmy's Sizzling Chicken Chop with Onion Sauce, the taste of the chicken looks same as mine as it is tender and juicy. The Onion Sauce is very nice too. For the mushroom soup, it's very special and rich of mushroom flavour. It is very nice indeed. Thumbs up! The bread that comes with butter also taste good as the bread is soft and hot and when you eat it with the butter, it tastes nice too. For the drinks, the Umbra Plum that I've ordered is rich of umbra plum flavour and it suits my taste and boost my appetite too. For Kimmy's Fresh Starfruit Juice, it's very nice too as it was fresh and not too sweet.

Overall we really enjoyed the meal tonight as all the food that we order tonight is very tasty and suits our taste. After finishing our meal, we are still talking about the food over here and it's all about positive feedback about this restaurant and the food. The total bill we pay is RM37.80 with no service nor government tax and I think is reasonable and not overpriced and most importantly, the food is in good shape with good quality. I would strongly recommend you to come over here to try out the Western Food over here especially the Poultry Chops that would 100% satisfy your needs. Enjoy your food folks! MY RATING: 5/5 (PERFECT) ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5 (PERFECT)

Food Hunt: Pun Chun (品珍) Restaurant, Ara Damansara

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. On this edition, we will be introducing the famous Duck Mee in Bidor and now it's opening more and more branches in the Klang Valley. Yes, it's Pun Chun (品珍) duck mee restaurant and today I've tried it at Ara Damansara (Nearby Sime Darby Oasis). This restaurant is located nearby the Old Subang Airport road and you seriously need a GPS to locate this shop because it's quite hard to find. But for me, I manage to find this restaurant using Google Map.

Once I reach the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon around 1.30pm, the restaurant is not crowded and quite a few tables occupied only mainly because of the location. I manage to find a place easily and once we sat down, we were immediately served accordingly. I take a look at the menu and without any hesitation, I've ordered the Duck Mee (Dry) (Big) (RM8.30) while Alan ordered the same too. For drinks, I've ordered the signature Barley (RM1.50) while Alan ordered Chinese Tea Cold (RM0.50).

It does not take very long for the food to arrive and my main concern here is whether the taste remained as good as in Bidor and in Kota Kemuning. The result is the same. They manage to maintain the taste and it was just as tasty as the ones in both destinations. The mee is very nice and juicy while the duck soup is very nice indeed. Wonderful! Both of us love the taste very much and we enjoyed our meal. The Barley that I've ordered is very nice too.

For the price of RM18.60 for the meal and with no service nor government tax, I would say the price is reasonable based on the quality of the food and I am sure besides the branches in Kota Kemuning and Bidor, this branch is good too. This is also for your information where they had opened another newly branch situated at Bandar Puteri in Puchong and one fine day I should go there and try it too. I will attached the Ara Damansara address for you and now you can set your Google map or GPS to go there. Cheers and enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; ALAN RATING: 5/5

__________________________________________________________

My Comments: Today I watch this movie at home by grabbing an original DVD for myself. I am a big fan of Police Story and Laughing Gor drama had always being my favourite and now it had been out on big screen in cinemas where everyone can enjoy it. Before I watch this movie, I would have known that this movie talks about Police Story and it's all about triads and a betrayal between police forces and the bad groups. The big casts are doing a very good job in this drama including Michael Tse, Francis Ng and Chapman To as well as Kara Wai. If you love to watch the drama, you should love to watch this movie and in this movie, there's no love story but it contributed to a lot of action and fight as well as some scenes with a pool of blood. The killings had been very brutal in certain scenes but the storyline is well documented by Herman Yau. I would say this movie is good and some of you may not like this one or may not understand in the beginning but as the movie goes on, you will tend to understand what it trying to say. A simple storyline yet challenging as you are eager to know who is the bad guy behind the scenes as well. Laughing Gor fans, you should love this and if you are not, you can stay away from this movie and you will treated it as boring. Since I am a big fan of Laughing Gor, no doubt I will give good marks for this movie. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: myNEWSCafe, 1 Utama Shopping Complex, Petaling Jaya

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of the Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy had visited 1 Utama Shopping Complex for a movie and then after that we did do some shopping over there as well. Overall, we enjoyed the day over there because this shopping complex had everything and it's all in one. For our dinner, we have selected this restaurant where we have not been to this restaurant before but we often pass by. Introducing the myNEWSCafe restaurant.

We reached the restaurant at about 7.00pm and there are a few tables occupied. We sat outside of the restaurant as it's more cooler compared to sitting inside the restaurant. We sat down and then the waiter and waitress did not see us until I have to call them to bring the menu to us. Poor customer service over there as the foreigners did not do their job well. Shucks! We browse through the menu and then I've ordered Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang (RM8.90) while Kimmy ordered Nasi Paprik with Tom Yam Soup (RM10.50). For drinks, we ordered the Jumbo Watermelon Juice (RM8.90) that can be shared by 2 persons.

It does not take the food long to arrive and I am satisfied with the wait time of the food. Let's go straight to the food comments. The Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang was average and the Sambal taste was not so tasty and it's just so-so. The Nasi Paprik with Tom Yam is just so-so as well. The Tom Yam Soup is very salty and yucks! It's not so nice in the first place but after you taste it for several times, it's not bad but not good for health. The Watermelon Juice was something to cheer up as it was nice. The freshness of the Watermelon Juice says it all and it's was just nice as it's not too sweet.

The price we pay is around RM31.00 for the food that we've ordered. For ME, the quality of the food sucks and not so nice and with that I would say it's not worth paying for the price. I would not recommend you to come over here for the food and now I know why the customer are pretty less with the poor service and poor quality of food. Enjoy! MY RATING: 2/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 2/5

________________________________________________________

My Comments: It was yet another great blockbuster movie for ME & Kimmy to watch and today we visited GSC 1 Utama to watch this movie. This movie is yet another great epic after Avatar and of course this movie has some similarity in it. The battle of the tribes once again amazed me in this movie. This is an adventure movie where John Carter was then transported to Mars from Earth and how he survive his life there and how he can be a hero? It tells you all inside the movie and it was a 132 minutes of journey and I can guarantee you that it will not be bored while watching this movie. There's some jokes in this movie but it's not so funny as this movie truly focused on adventure and of course a lot of action. It's an ancient movie to watch where it's an Alien Vs Human battle and you will simply love it. Disney's production had been improved lately with this movie and the 3D version of this movie should be better than you watch in 2D. I would recommend you to watch this movie as it's adventurous and full packed of action as well and you will not get bored. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: The Manhattan Fish Market, e@Curve (UPDATE 2)

Hello everybody,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy were in e@Curve and its surroundings for shopping and after that we wet for our dinner. Finally we have selected The Manhattan Fish Market located at e@Curve for our dinner and we reached the restaurant at about 7.00pm and there are pretty less crowd inside the restaurant. This is our 2nd visit here after we've tried the giant platter before here and we love the food over here. Today we wanted to try something different and apparently we were being shown for our seats once we reached the restaurant. We browse through the menu and then it took us about 5 minutes to look at the menu and we've decided what to order.

We have ordered the Most Popular Set 1 which consists of 2 fizzy drinks, 1 Baked Mediterranean Fish, Caesar Salad and 1 Spaghetti Seafood Olio and it's just suitable and nice for 2 persons. The price is RM39.90 (not including tax just yet). After ordered, we are pretty impressed as the food arrived around 5 minutes and it was fast and since we are pretty hungry, we are happy with their service. The Caesar Salad is nice and I treat this as a starter where the vegetables suits the nice taste of the mayonnaise and it's also added with some small piece of toasted bread as well. Recommended! The Baked Mediterranean Fish is simply tasty. The sauce of the fish is very nice and it's really amazed me. The garlic rice is nice where ME & Kimmy love every single taste of the dish too. Finally is the Spaghetti Seafood Olio that is included inside the set. The Spaghetti has squid, prawns and oyster and the taste is very nice too. The taste really melts into my mouth and it was lovely. We had a great time dining there and the portion is just nice for 2 persons as both of us are full too after the meal. For drinks, Kimmy ordered Ice Peach Tea which is quite decent while I've ordered Pepsi.

Caesar Salad

Ice Peach Tea & Pepsi

Spaghetti Seafood Olio

Baked Mediterranean Fish Rice

The price we pay is up to RM46.30 after 16% tax and I would say it's a very satisfying meal that I ever had again today. I think the price is not too expensive considering we have seafood to eat that consists of prawns, oyster, squid and fish as well. I would recommend you to come over here to try out their most popular set which is available all day long. You won't regret dining in Manhattan Fish Market as the food here does not dissapoints you and you will walk away with a thousand smile. Food Hunt: Restoran Sekinchan Ikan Bakar, M Avenue, Segambut

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of the food hunt and it's a lovely weekend we've been into and today is Saturday night as ME & Kimmy had planned yet another food hunt and this time we've decided to try Malay Food instead and we have located this restaurant located at Sri Sinar. Yes, introducing the Restoran Sekinchan Ikan Bakar. We reached the restaurant at about 7.45pm and the restaurant were not crowded as only a few tables occupied. We taught something is wrong and however we still insists to eat over there. There waiter and waitress are very friendly and they served us with a beautiful smile.

We looked at the menu and ordered drinks first. I've ordered Teh O Ais Limau (RM1.80) while Kimmy ordered Laici Ais (RM2.00). Then here's the point. We have to go to the counter inside the restaurant to choose the dish we wanted to eat. Me & Kimmy had visited the counter and then to decided what we wanted to order. There's a lot of variety of fishes displayed as well as vegetables and it's up to you to decide on how you want it to be cooked. Both of us had selected the Ikan Pari (Stingray) (RM7 per 100gm) (RM17.40) to be cooked hot and spicy. Then we ordered another dishes which is the Tom Yam Soup (RM14.80) where the tom yam contains mixed vegetables, small squid and several prawns. That's for our menu for dinner and it's for 2 persons portion. Oh Yea! The white rice is also chargeable (RM1.50 per bowl). It does not take very long for the food to arrive as we have waited for 10 minutes for the food to arrive as maybe the amount of people in the restaurant.

The Ikan Pari cooked with hot and spicy is indeed nice. The aroma taste of the spiciness just suits our taste and it makes our meal more interesting and delicious. It was lovely and nice. The portion of the Ikan Pari is average and just nice for 2 people. The Tom Yam Soup meanwhile was just so-so and not so nice. But it's still considered normal as for the Malays who cooked Tom Yam where almost everyone had the same style of cooking. As for the drinks, my Teh O Ais Limau was just nice while the Lychee Ais is just normal. Nothing much to shout about.

The price we pay is RM39.00 with no government or service tax. The price is slightly expensive compared if you eat outside and this has been agreed by many of the bloggers where the price is quite expensive as stated on their blog. Just for 2 dishes with normal stingray and tom yam soup, I think it's overpriced and not worth it. I can get even cheaper in the Chinese restaurants. The food is good but the price is too expensive and I can only afford to go once in a while perhaps once in a blue moon. A great place to eat out and dine in if you don't mind the price or once in while. I would recommend you to come over to try out the food over here especially the Ikan Bakar which is delicious where it specialize on its sauce and spiciness too. There are several branches that you can visit including USJ, Bandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, Shah Alam and many more. Kindly check out the other locations on the internet http://sekinchanikanbakar.com/. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

Food Hunt: Khuntai Restaurant, Desa Aman Puri, Kepong (UPDATE 2)

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy had once again visited Khunthai Restaurant located at Desa Aman Puri since November 2010 and it was barely a year plus ago. It had been such a long time that we've been to this place and after hearing Kimmy's suggestion that this restaurant had improved a lot compared to last so I would love to give it a try once again.

We reached the restaurant at about 7.30pm and the crowd had started to fulfill the tables of the restaurant but still there are places available for us to sit. We sat inside the restaurant and we found out that it's much more cooler compared than you sit outside. We were immediately served with the menu despite the large crowd and the service is very good indeed. Firstly, the waitress had told us to order the drinks first and we do not have much time to think and we just glance through the menu and I've decided to drink Coke (RM 2.50) while Kimmy ordered Chinese Tea Ice (RM0.50). After we order the drinks, then we proceed to order the main course which is the Thai Food. We are amazed by the varieties of food served and finally after looking at the menu for about 10 minutes, we ordered A Mixed Seafood Tom Yam (Small) (RM19.00), Nameless Chicken (Small) (RM10.00) and Stir-Fried Asparagus (Small) (RM15.00). Then for rice, we ordered a bowl of rice that can served up to 2 persons (RM1.20 per person).

It does not take very long for the food to arrive and upon the food reach our table, both of us would take a spoon and try out the tom yam soup. The Mixed Seafood Tom Yam soup was very nice indeed and it was extra spicy too. It was very hot and I had a tough time dealing with the spicy tom yam soup and as usual the sweat coming out from my head. Well, although it was spicy, but it's extremely nice and recommended to order. Although we ordered a small portion but it appeared to be big and just nice for 2 people with maximum satisfaction. The Nameless Chicken was fried into perfection and the taste was simply lovely. It was nice and if you eat it together with the chilli sauce given, the taste is much more tasty and nice. Finally is the Stir-Fried Asparagus where the taste is nice especially it's served with the 'sambal' sauce. However the Nameless Chicken and the Stir-Fried Asparagus portion is pretty less and the price is pretty expensive as well.

Stir-Fried Asparagus

Mixed Seafood Tom Yam

Nameless Chicken

Overall, the food can be considered nice but the dish small portion is really small and the price is not reasonable at all except the Tom Yam Soup. Well, it's still can be considered quite expensive for the food we've ordered and the bill came around RM49.60 and closing to RM50.00 for 3 dishes including the Mixed Seafood Tom Yam soup with an exceptional less portion of other 2 dishes. I hope they can improve either on their pricing or the portion of the food too. Other than that it's fine and good too. I would still recommend you to come over here to try out the Thai Food over here as it's tasty and nice too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5.
