Food Hunt: Plus One Shabu Shabu, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy had visited 1 Utama for yet another series of shopping and this time, we manage to buy something as it's currently mega sales as well as the Hari Raya sales is on.

For our dinner, we have tried the Plus One Shabu Shabu and I am regret to tell you that some of the photos that was taken today was wiped off accidentally by me and I have to borrow some from the internet. We arrived at the restaurant at around 7.15pm and the crowd was very less indeed with a few tables occupied. The business is not so impressive too. Both of us sat down and then we take a look at the menu. This is the first time where ME & Kimmy had stepped into this restaurant to try out this Shabu-Shabu and we hope that the food was impressive too. We then select the broth for our steamboat followed by ordering 2 Chicken Sets. Each sets costs about RM28.00 and the broth is FREE. I've chosen Pork Bone with Corn Broth while Kimmy had selected the White Fungus Papaya Broth.

The Chicken Set (RM28.00) that comes with a full set of Chicken (Medium Size) as well another plate of other ingredients in one plate that contains mee, prawn, slices of fish, crab meat stick, golden mushroom, Scallop and lots of vegetables as well. The portion is small size and it could actually filled in 1 person stomach without any hesitation. The ingredients are not so fresh as I can taste some prawns and the chicken where they actually add liquor into the chicken and I can taste it too to ensure the chicken can last longer. The soup meanwhile was a talking point for this whole steamboat thingy. Of course, I would say that the first time you started to cook the ingredients, you will have tasteless soup where it was pretty plain and not much taste until you cook like 20 minutes and then you need to put lots of ingredients inside to cook (such as vegetables, carrot, corns) so that the fragrance of the soup really come into life. By that time I was already eating half way and no fun already. The same goes to Kimmy's comment. The Ice-Lemon Tea (Jug) (RM7.00) meanwhile is nice and you can enjoy a refreshing cup of Ice Lemon Tea by pouring a couple as it comes with a jug and you can share with 2 people.

Overall, the taste of the food is pretty average and not to what I expected because a lot of bloggers and my friends told me that this steamboat restaurant is a must to try but when I stepped in, it was otherwise. I am satisfied with the portion of the food provided (1 person portion) but I would like to say that the price is really very expensive. For 2 person Shabu Shabu meal costs us about RM70.00++ and I think it's not worth it since we only try the Chicken Set Meal. It's nothing so special about it and I will not go again as I have lots of great choices outside there. The only thing that really impress me is the varieties of broth prepared here to serve the customers as most of the broth are pretty special as well but it also does not lived up my expectations as the broth is not so nice either and it took a long time for it to come out with the taste (after 20 minutes of cooking). Also I would like to stress is that the sauce served is also chargeable by headcount where RM1.00 per person but with unlimited sauce you can take. The best sauce so far I've tasted is the Tom Yam sauce which looks pretty special and nice to me. I would still recommend you to try other food over here but please do keep in mind with the price. For more information of the menu and pricing, you may log on to http://www.shabushabu.com.my . Enjoy! MY RATING: 3/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3/5

___________________________________________________________

My Comments: Today ME & Kimmy had decided to purposely go for the movie that was booked 2 days ago. We have to book this movie earlier as we know it will be a hit after movie patrons would surely go for this blockbuster movie. Yes. It's Captain America. I've been waiting for this movie for quite some time and finally it had shown in the cinemas. After watching this movie, I am very impress with the storyline as it's focusing on an enemy attacking on the American countries and with Captain America to save it. It tells a story of a guy who wanted to be an armed forces and then defend the country and finally he got a chance to save the country. It was an action packed movie talking about war and this movie is a much watch if you love war movies and of course the superhero Captain America. The plot of this movie is also outstanding with a lot of scenes filled with funny jokes that would ensure you laugh out loud in cinemas. Marvel comics had been simply outstanding and it never let me down once no matter from Incredible Hulk to Iron Man to Thor and lastly to Captain America. After watching the movie, don't forget to stay until the movie ends (after the credits over too) because there's a hidden sequel which talk about the Avengers where all the Hero's will combine to fight and compete in the most awaiting movie of the year coming May 2012. I would recommend you to watch this movie as this movie was simply brilliant with actions, jokes and the storyline looks real without any fantasy feeling. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

For ME & Kimmy, both of us ordered Grilled Bassardi (RM18.90) while I've ordered the Speghetti Carbonara (RM18.90). Both of the taste is really awesome and nice.Bout the drinks, it does not dissapoints ME & Kimmy nor others as well. I've ordered Ice Lemon Tea (RM5.50) while Kimmy ordered Rose Flower Tea (RM12.00). It was awesome and nice. Really unbeatable.

Food Hunt: Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks, e@Curve

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy had spend the whole day shopping at Mutiara Damansara of the 3 shopping malls over there. During the evening, we actually tried to crack our head on what food shall we tried and Kimmy gave an excellent idea and finally we had decided to go to Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks. Apparently, there are 2 branches situated around the area and we managed to try out the e@Curve newly opened branch. It was pretty big and I would say it's the biggest branch in Petaling Jaya. You have an option to either sit inside or outside the restaurant as inside there's air conditioned while outside, you can enjoy the cool air with fan as well.

We reach the restaurant at about 8.00pm and there are very less crowd dine in the restaurant. Mostly I can see the people take away their food. Before we sit down, we order first as we take a look at the menu. The menu has limited choices but according to Kimmy, she said that the food here are very nice and recommended. So, without thinking anymore, I am trying their rice set which also called Happy! Ricebox Set (RM10.90 each). This set comes with a drinks and we ordered Soy Soya Milk drink. Both of us ordered the same dishes. We've also added the Sweet Plum Potato Fries (RM4.90) as our side dishes.

The Happy! Ricebox set is totally awesome. It was pretty awesome and it looks exactly like the ones they serve back in Taiwan night market. The Ricebox set consists of their famous Fried Chicken (you can choose either original or spicy) that comes with rice and 3 pieces of tofu. Both of us ordered the spicy chicken rice set. The taste meanwhile tastes lovely and nice. Both of us enjoyed the spicy chicken but I guess the spicy powder that makes the chicken delicious. The tofu meanwhile are delicious where they added some toppings on top of the tofu. The rice meanwhile taste like sushi rice as it was pretty soft as well. We love the Ricebox Set and we did enjoyed the meal. For the Sweet Plum Potato Fries, it was awesome too. Once again, the powder that matters which makes the potato fries looks tastier. I would recommend the whole set including side orders to you as it was totally delicious and awesome. We have no comments about the drinks because it's a bottle packing of Soy Soya Milk.

The price meanwhile was pretty reasonable as it was not too expensive nor cheap. But with the food quality is there, I believe you will simply love the taste. If you got chance, do try out the original fried chicken as well because it's as nice as the spicy chicken. Overall, the bill came is around RM26.00 and the portion of the food is average and reasonable. You may try out their other food such as Handmade Oyster Mee Sua and Seafood Tempura as according to Kimmy, it was very nice too and worth a try. Alright, do enjoy the food and Happy Weekend! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

World News: Norway mourns victims of anti-Islam "Crusader"

SUNDVOLLEN, Norway (Reuters) - Norway mourned on Sunday 93 people killed in a shooting spree and car bombing by a Norwegian who saw his attacks as "atrocious, but necessary" to defeat liberal immigration policies and the spread of Islam.

Candles and flowers are arranged on the ground near the blast site to mourn the victims of a rampage on an island and in the capital Oslo July 23, 2011. (REUTERS/Wolfgang Rattay)

In his first comment via a lawyer since his arrest, Anders Behring Breivik, 32, said he wanted to explain himself at a court hearing on Monday about extending his custody.

"He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary," Geir Lippestad said.

The lawyer said Breivik had admitted to Friday's shootings at a Labour party youth camp and the bombing that killed seven people in Oslo's government district a few hours earlier.

However, "he feels that what he has done does not deserve punishment," Lippestad told NRK public television.

"What he has said is that he wants a change in society and in his understanding, in his head, there must be a revolution."

Oslo's acting police chief Sveinung Sponheim confirmed to reporters that Breivik would be able to speak to the court. It was not clear whether the hearing would be closed or in public.

"He has admitted to the facts of both the bombing and the shooting, although he's not admitting criminal guilt," Sponheim said, adding that Breivik had said he acted alone.

Police were checking this because some witness statements from the island spoke of more than one gunman, Sponheim said.

NATIONAL TRAGEDY

The violence, Norway's worst since World War Two, has profoundly shocked the usually peaceful nation of 4.8 million.

King Harald and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg were among mourners at a service in Oslo cathedral, where the premier spoke emotionally about the victims, some of whom he knew.

"This represents a national tragedy," he declared.

Tearful people placed flowers and candles outside the cathedral. Soldiers with guns and wearing bullet-proof vests blocked streets leading to the government district.

Police said Breivik surrendered when they arrived on the small island of Utoeya in a lake northwest of Oslo after he had shot dead at least 85 people, mostly young people attending a summer camp of the youth wing of Norway's ruling Labour Party.

About 650 people were on the island when Breivik, wearing a police uniform, opened fire. Police said it took them an hour from when they were first alerted to stop the massacre, the worst by a single gunman in modern times. [ID:nLDE76M02M]

An inadequate boat and a decision to await a special armed unit from Oslo, 45 km (28 miles) away, delayed the response.

"When so many people and equipment were put into it, the boat started to take on water, so that the motor stopped," said Erik Berga, police operations chief in Buskerud County.

A person wounded in the shooting died in hospital, raising the death toll to 93, Norway's NRK television said. Police say some people remain missing. Ninety-seven people were wounded.

ANTI-ISLAM MANIFESTO

Breivik posted a 1,500-page anti-Islamic manifesto, written in English, on Friday, describing his violent philosophy and how he planned his onslaught and made explosives.

The killings would draw attention to the manifesto entitled "2083-A European Declaration of Independence", Breivik wrote.

"Once you decide to strike, it is better to kill too many than not enough, or you risk reducing the desired ideological impact of the strike," he added.

The manifesto posted by Breivik, a self-styled founder member of a modern Knights Templar organisation, hints at a wider conspiracy of self-appointed crusaders and shows a mind influenced by the fantasy imagery of online gaming.

"The order is to serve as an armed Indigenous Rights Organisation and as a Crusader Movement (anti-Jihad movement)," he writes in the document, chunks of which are cut and pasted from other far-right, anti-Islam documents on the Internet.

Breivik says he is not against immigrants who integrate and reserves a lot of his fury for a liberal European political establishment he views as promoting Europe's destruction.

He hints at a wider conspiracy in the document, saying that the Knights Templar, a medieval order of crusading warrior monks, had been reconstituted in London in 2002.

Breivik attacks the "Islamic colonisation and Islamisation of Western Europe" and the "rise of cultural Marxism/multiculturalism".

A video posted on YouTube called "Knights Templar 2083" showed pictures of Breivik, including one of him in a scuba diving outfit pointing an automatic weapon.

Parliament, in recess until October, is to be recalled for a memorial service. Party leaders will discuss how the attacks would affect campaigning for local elections in September.

"We will have an election, we will have a political debate," said Stoltenberg, premier and Labour Party leader.

"But I believe everyone understands that we have to discuss the form of the debate...to avoid a conflict between the political debate and the need to show dignity and compassion."

Erna Solberg, head of the main opposition Conservative Party, said: "We have to agree the rules of the game."

IMMIGRATION

Norway has long been open to immigration, which has been criticised by the populist Progress Party, to which Breivik once belonged. Labour, whose youth camp he attacked, backs multi-culturalism to accommodate different ethnic communities.

"Norway will keep going. But there will be a Norway before and after the dramatic attacks on Friday," Stoltenberg said.

"But I am quite sure that you will also recognise Norway afterwards -- it will be an open Norway, a democratic Norway and a Norway where we take care of each other."

The attacks have prompted soul-searching in Norway.

At Oslo cathedral, Britt Aanes, a priest aged 42 said the fact that Breivik was Norwegian had affected people deeply.

"In one way, I think it was good that it was not a Muslim terrorist group behind this," she said. It pointed up the complexity of immigration and inter-religious issues for Norwegians, "a small and privileged people", she said.

"We must open our eyes and not simply think that we can keep all this wealth to ourselves."

Some analysts questioned whether Norway, focused on al Qaeda-type militancy, had overlooked domestic threats.

"While the main terrorist threat to democratic societies around the world still comes from Islamist extremists, the horrific events in Norway are a reminder that white far-right extremism is also a major and possibly growing threat," said James Brandon, research head at London's Quilliam think-tank.

Home-grown anti-government figures have struck elsewhere, notably in the United States, where Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people with a truck bomb in Oklahoma City in 1995.

Grief was still raw for survivors and relatives clustered at a hotel in Sundvollen near Utoeya island. They huddled together, many with bloodshot eyes, at terrace tables.

Inside, a board gave contact details for priests and imams. Pinned to the board was a poem that begins: "Today, today it's not the same. Our shining lights snuffed in out in shame".

Food Hunt: Fruitland, Ikano Power Centre (IPC), Mutiara Damansara

Dear All,

Welcome back to a lovely Sunday afternoon and today ME & Kimmy had visited The Curve, e@Curve & IPC for some shopping. Of course, we had a great day today, skipping the cinemas and we did some shopping and guess what, we failed to get anything and instead we just manage to windows shop only.

In the evening, ME & Kimmy had planned to have some refreshing food to refresh our body and leg after a long shopping. We had chosen Fruitland situated at Ikano Power Centre (IPC) as it looks tempting especially the Fruit Lolo that was sold at the restaurant. It was situated the the Lower Ground Floor. We reach the restaurant at about 5.30pm and the restaurant is almost empty with only 2 tables occupied from the available 20 tables there. Of course, that time was not really a dinner time and that's why it was less people.

Once we sat down, both of us just ordered the famous Fruit Lolo that was served at Fruitland restaurant. We take a look at the menu and I have to tell you all that besides serving the famous Fruit Lolo ranging from RM6.90 to RM9.90 , this restaurant also serves western and local cuisine for your choice. We does not need to wait long until the Fruit Lolo we ordered came to us. I've ordered Honey Dew Lolo (RM6.90) while Kimmy ordered Strawberry Lolo (RM6.90). The Honey Dew Lolo was absolutely nice and perfect. You can taste the juiciness of the Honey Dew and also the juicy tender milk which was use and it was so refreshing and nice. But for Kimmy's Strawberry Lolo, it was otherwise. The strawberry was very sour and the taste was not there as well. It was just normal as your can only taste the sour of the strawberry and the juice was not there and was pretty plain. Try avoiding ordering the Strawberry Lolo.

Overall, the Fruit Lolo price is really value for money as the portion of the food is pretty big and it's worth it too overall. For the price of RM6.90 per fruity lolo, you can enjoy total refreshing of the fruit lolo and I believe you would love it to the maximum especially on a hot weather. Worth of trying and visit and treat this as your nice desert. You will surely no regret! Enjoy! MY RATING for Honey Dew Lolo: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING for Strawberry Lolo: 3/5

* Food & drink rating are based on the food & drinks we've ordered and not overall food & drinks.
