Food Hunt: Hokkaido Sushi, 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy had visited 1 Utama as we are into the festive mood where Chinese New Year is around the corner. We did some shopping and we did bought ourselves the stuffs that we want. Then of course we stopped by for lunch and first we wanted to go to Pasta Zanmai but unfortunately the restaurant is temporarily closed because of technical problem and then the chef had recommended us another Zanmai chain restaurant and Hokkaido Sushi is the chain restaurant that operates under the same company.

We reach the restaurant at about 11.50am and the crowd had started to build up. Of course it's due to the closure of Pasta Zanmai where a lot of people swarming in this restaurant to try. I have to queue up and finally I've managed to find a place after waiting for about 5 minutes. We browse through the menu and we found out it's the same as Pasta Zanmai restaurant and we are excited to try out the food over there. We took quite long, perhaps very long to browse through the menu and it took us about 10 minutes to decide what to order. For ME, personally I've ordered the Chicken Katsudon (Small) (RM8.80) and California Roll (RM4.80) while Kimmy ordered the Kaisen Nabe (RM15.80). For Sushi's we've ordered the Dai Dai Plate Roll (RM12.80) (6 Pieces) as well as other conveyor belt sushi's too. For drinks we've ordered the Ocha (Japanese Green Tea) (RM1.00 each). For your information, the conveyor sushi plates price are based on colors ranging from Yellow (RM1.80), Blue (RM2.80), Pink (RM3.80), Black (RM4.80) and Red (RM6.80).

California Temaki (RM4.80)

Ocha Green Tea (RM1.00)

We kicked off by trying out their conveyor belt sushi's and it does not dissapoints me at all. The rice is not hard nor soft and it's just nice to eat. It's fresh and it's simply lovely too. Probably we are too hungry by skipping our breakfast and that's why it's extra delicious. I would strongly recommend you to come over here to try out their freshly made delicious sushi. The main course does not take very long to arrive and their service was simply fantastic despite a lot of people with quite limited waiter and waitress over there. The Chicken Katsudon was simply fantastic with the small portion looks like huge portion and it was worth of every penny. The taste was not too dry and it was too good to be true. The best Chicken Katsudon that I've tried so far. Thumbs up! :) For Kimmy's Kaisen Nabe, it's a type of mini steamboat and the ingredients given were fresh and the portion is above average. The prawns and the oyster are very fresh and nice to eat too. Kimmy did say it's delicious as the ingredients are fresh and the soup was fantastic too to drink. I manage to try some and found it the same too.

Dai Dai Plate Roll (RM12.80)

Chicken Katsudon (RM8.80)

The California Roll was nice too but the portion is slightly less but who cares where the rice is really nice. It was very juicy too. About the Dai Dai Plate Roll, it was yet another great items to eat. There's a salmon slice on top of the sushi and the salmon was very fresh and juicy too. The sushi contains some spicy powder in there but it was not very hot to eat and it's just nice. Both of us are very amazed by the sushi and the main course served over here and I would like to say each dishes that we tried does not dissapoints us and it's really up to the expectations of ours and we simply love it very much. That says it all and it constantly beat Sushi King and Sakae Sushi in many factors.

Kaisen Nabe Ingredients

Kaisen Nabe (RM15.80)

The price meanwhile is slightly expensive but the quality of the food is there and it's really up to the expectations of a real Japanese Food. I did not try such a nice Japanese Food Restaurant before and now I've found one located at the newly refurbished Old Wing. The bill came and it costs us about RM60.10 plus Government Tax of 10% and 5% of Service Tax. I would strongly recommend you to come over to Hokkaido Sushi located at the Old Wing of 1 Utama to try out the best Sushi ever I've ever tried. If you come here, it will not dissapoints you but it makes your day happy with an unexpected great food and the customer service are very good too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 (PERFECT) ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5 (PERFECT)
