Welcome back folks with another edition of the Food Hunt in the year 2010. Today after watching movie and shopping, me & Kimmy had again search for food to dine in for dinner. We keep on searching on the mall and found out that Otak-Otak Place in 1 Utama would be our choice today as we would like to try out our local delights here.
When we sat down the waiter immedietely gave us the menu and their service was very good indeed. The menu looks like our exercise books in recent years and it was pretty impressive too. The decorations as the restaurant was very impressive too with decoration and items from the early 60's to 70's. The feel was impressive too. Next up, we looked at the menu and there was not much choices of food actually to choose from. Finally after taking a look at the menu, I have ordered Otak-Otak Fried Rice (RM5.00) and a cup of Kopi O (RM2.80). Meanwhile Kimmy had ordered Nasi Lemak Ayam Percik (RM9.90) and a cup of Soya Cincau (RM3.80). (Please see pictures).
The food came pretty quickly too because there are not much people in the restaurant. The Otak-Otak fried rice was just normal and nothing is so special about it. The taste was just moderate and luckily the fried rice comes with a few pieces of prawn crackers and some 'Azat' (cantonese word). The Kopi O meanwhile doesn't impress as well. It was just normal as it's not sweet either. It was not as tasty as expected (not tasty like Oldtown). For Kimmy's Nasi Lemak with Ayam Percik, it was also just moderate. The Ayam Percik curry was just normal and not so nice too. The fragrance of the curry is just normal and doesn't taste good. The Soya Cincau was still OK because the soya is a bottle soya and the cincau is already ready made.
Overall, the food was not so impressive and the pricing was reasonable and not too expensive. Besides, they are also giving RM5 voucher free for those who dine above RM20 in a single receipt. Not a bad deal huh! But unfortunately the food and drinks was not so nice and we were thinking whether we should go there for the 2nd time or not! The bill came overall is RM22.58 (including 5% service charge) and becausr they are giving out RM5 voucher so it still considered reasonable. But hey! Since Otak Otak Place is special for its Muar Otak Otak, perhaps you should try out its Otak Otak and maybe it's tasty too instead of other food in the restaurant and let me know ya!
