Food Hunt: Restoran Makanan Laut Weng Kee, Ulu Yam

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt as today ME, Kimmy and her whole family went to Ulu Yam today to find for great food to eat. Of course, they looked very excited as well as ME as well as I had fallen into sick but still wanted to go to try out the food over there. We reached the restaurant at about 3.00pm and there are not many people inside the restaurant as it already passed the lunch hour. This Restoran Makanan Laut Weng Kee is situated at Hulu Yam Baharu small town and you can see it along the roadside. Many people stop over here especially those who just came down from Genting Highlands.

Once we sat down, the waiter immediately served us. The waitress asked us what to eat and we say we wanted to eat rice instead of Loh Mee which is very famous in Ulu Yam. So we've ordered a vegetable (RM10.00), a tom yam coconut prawns (RM38.00), curry fish (RM32.00) and braised pork meat (RM22.00) (pictures are not available at that time because phone no battery). So I would just tell you how nice is the food verbally only. Don't worry because the food here is quite nice. The best dishes that we've ordered came from the tom yam coconut prawns where the soup was simply fantastic. It has a great taste especially sour and spicy which makes us crave for more. The 2nd best came from the curry fish where the taste was quite nice too and still acceptable. Then the 'choi sum' vegetable was very fresh indeed and the juicyness or freshness of the vegetable says it all. The braised pork meat was not so nice and just average only.

Overall, the bill came and the price was like so reasonable and so cheap. I was shocked to learned the bill costs us about RM102.00 and the portion of each and every dish was large and we almost cannot finish the dish since we've ordered 4 dishes with 5 pax. The tom yam coconut prawns only costs RM38.00 where you can get 10-15 prawns served and this is extremely cheap as well. I would recommend you to come over here to try. I did not manage to locate the address and phone number as well for you but do lookout for the signboard as the picture described above. You may ordered the dish above that I recommend to you except the braised pork meat which is just average. Also you may try out the Loh Mee here as I heard from some bloggers that it's quite nice.
