Gathering & Food: Poco Homemade Cafe & Atelier, Bangsar

Hello Folks,

Welcome back to yet another edition of the gathering & food as finally we have get to meet each other again. We would like to thank our beloved organizer Yen Peng for making this gathering a success. It has been a while since we met and if I'm not mistaken, the last gathering would be on April 2010 and it had been for the past 7 months. Of course we miss each other very much and it would be a wonderful time to call upon a gathering to meet up again. Our organizer Yen Peng had chosen Poco Homemade Cafe & Atelier as our gathering venue as this place was environmental cozy and nice too.

Today, we've got 12 people who attended this gathering and I would say this would be a great turnout for this year and I would like to say bravo to you guys and girls who attended this gathering including ME, Kimmy, Kuek Yen Sim, Yen Peng (Organizer), May Low, Stanley Choo, Mun Sai Kit, Jason Ng, Kevin Kong, Steve Chai, Benjamin Kuan and Wong Yen Nee. It had been a while as well as we have a big turnout as we understand that we have not met each other for quite some time. We did have a great time over there chit chatting as we laugh and smile throughout the gathering.

The gathering started at about 6.00pm and once we reached there, the place had been booked by 2 groups where one of the group were us and another group was there to celebrate birthday among their group friends. Today, the restaurant was just reserved to both our 2 groups and we did have a great time there. Once we sat down, we looked at the menu and it contains limited choices and not many choices to choose from and it mainly contains mostly Japanese Food. I've ordered Chicken Katsu Don (RM12.80) together with Vanilla with Red Bean drink (RM6.00) as my drinks well. For Kimmy, she ordered Chicken Katsu Curry Rice (RM14.80) with Soya Green Tea (Hot) (RM5.00). We've also ordered side dishes and it was shared by us together with Yen Sim and Yen Peng such as Chicken Roll (RM11.80) and the Homemade Tofu Cake (RM8.00 per piece).

The Chicken Katsu Don that I've ordered was acceptable and nothing special about it. Besides, the rice was a bit sticky and was too dried as well and makes my appetite almost gone as well. The more I ate, the more 'geli' I felt and luckily I get to get some sauce from Kimmy's dish. The Vanilla with Red Bean drink meanwhile was great and nice to drink as it was very special. You should try this one. For Kimmy's Chicken Katsu Curry Rice, she told alexleow-kimmy.com that the dish was just average. The rice was very sticky and most importantly, the sauce was like a maggi flavoured taste sauce and it was not nice. I've tried some and found out that it was still acceptable but still not up to my expectations as well. The Soya Green Tea was nice and special too but the portion was too small for the price she paid. For the Chicken Roll, it was nice and best consume with the Mayonnaise that was prepared together with the dish as well. For the Homemade Tofu Cake, I cannot accept especially the taste was not so nice as it contains the sour flavour that came out from the tofu. The outlook was very nice but not the inside as it was rather dissapointing as well. It contains 3 layers and the top layer would be the tofu, followed by the cake and at the bottom portion contains the mini biscuit.

For other members that ordered different dishes, they told alexleow-kimmy.com that it was overall average and not so nice. Some ordered Miso Soba, Unagi Don, Fried Ebi etc. and overall it was just average. The bill came and it's around RM250++ for the amount of 12 person where some ordered side dishes as well. The overall price was reasonable for me but for some individual items are rather expensive as well and some items are cheap. For both of us, with the amount of food we've ordered it costs us about RM45.00 for both and I would say reasonable too. If you love an environmental cozy and nice restaurant, this is the place for you to enjoy but if you are here for food, you will feel a little dissapointed as it was not up to our expectations. We've got some great photos to share with you but with limited photos over here. Do not worry as you can access those full photos at my Facebook! Enjoy! MY RATING: 3.5/5; KIMMY RATING: 3/5 ; AVERAGE MEMBERS RATING: 3/5

*Food & Drinks Rating are based on the food & drinks we've ordered and not overall food & drinks.
