Food Hunt: Chiang Rai Restaurant, Desa Aman Puri

Welcome back to another edition of the food hunt on a Saturday. Today ME & Kimmy are on a mission again to hunt for food and we've decided to go Thai food yet again. Today, we have chosen Chiang Rai Restaurant, Desa Aman Puri as our destination for today. Please see map above to get the directions although the map is showing other restaurant but the restaurant is just opposite the restaurant as shown on map. This restaurant is located beside the Old Town White Coffee.

We arrived at the restaurant at about 7.00pm and the place were already very crowded. Luckily, once we reach there there were people leaving which gives us an instant place to sit as well. The service was good where we were immedietely served with the menu. Once we look at the menu, we know what to order because we've been there a couple of times before but that was very long time before. We've ordered Tom Yum Goong, Chicken Cashew Nut and Spicy 'Kangkung'. For drinks, I've ordered 100 Plus while Kimmy ordered Soya Bean Milk.

The Tom Yum Goong was nice where it contains a lot of ginger inside. It was not too hot & spicy as you can taste the juicyness of the Tom Yum and then once you ate it, your stomach will not feel burning inside. It was the best part of the overall food that we've ordered. For the Chicken Cashew Nut, it was also very nice indeed. The chicken is fried and then marinated with some kind of sauce and the taste was good. The dish are accompanied with Cashew Nuts and some Green Chilli's. Last but not least, the Spicy Kangkung was above average only. We felt that it was not spicy enough and it was too plain. Maybe it was not cooked with Belacan and that's why the taste was a bit out of our expectations.

The price meanwhile was not expensive either. The Tom Yum Goong costs about RM8 per pot (small) while the Chicken Cashew Nuts costs about RM11.00 (small). Then the Spicy 'Kangkung' costs about RM7 per plate for a small portion. The total bill is about RM33.50 plus a pot of rice and drinks. Basically, the price are pretty reasonable and cheap as well. You might wanna try this and I would recommend you to try out the food over here. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

*Food Rating is based on the food we've ordered and not overall food.
