Food Hunt: Nippon Yataimura, 1 Utama

Welcome back folks,

We are back again for yet another food hunt action and this time, me & Kimmy had decided to give it a try at Nippon Yataimura located at the New Wing of 1 Utama. It was a nicely decorated restaurant will totally Japanese "Feel" and a lot of couples would surely enjoy it based on the environment as shown on the pictures. We had our dinner here after watching movie.

After we sat down, we have waited for 5 minutes before the waitress could serve us and brought us the menu. The service there was very poor indeed and I am not satisfy with their service. Even, I have ordered green tea and yet it took about 15 minutes before coming to us. It was a totally poor service there and after I've ordered the green tea I've asked for a cold green tea to be refilled but they came and refill the hot one for me. So far, I can say their service sucks big time and thumbs down towards their service.

The menu meanwhile were not much choices especially in the rice & sushi menu. This restaurant serves more varieties and concentrate into japanese style mee like udon etc. According to Kimmy, he told alexleow-kimmy.com that their mee sucks big time and with that, I never ordered mee and ordered rice instead. I've ordered Chicken Teriyaki Bento with Green Tea meanwhile Kimmy ordered Unadon with Green Tea (see pictures).

Let's go straight to the comments. The Chicken Teriyaki Bento (rice) sucks big time. Wow! I never critic such a bad impression before but it really dissapoints me. The chicken was tasteless and only I can taste the roasted chicken skin only and I was like eating a raw chicken. In fact, not only that, the rice also sucks big time. It was very oily and too much garlic which makes the taste feel 'yuck' (you know what I mean). Very bad meal for this one. For the green tea, it was just normal and nothing special. It seems the hot green tea is better than the cold one because the cold one is a bit bitter compared to the hot green tea. For Kimmy, she ordered the Unadon (fish rice) and the taste according to her is not so good. The fish is pretty sweet and fresh too but the rice was very sticky and not up to the standard. She also commented that the display on the menu shows that the bowl of rice should come with a large egg but it came otherwise.

Overall, my dish was very dissapointed and please do not order the Chicken Teriyaki Bento when you are here. It sucks big time. For the Unadon, it was still acceptable but the rice is still pretty sticky for this one and not much ketchup / sauce being poured into the rice and this makes the rice pretty normal and plain. The price meanwhile was pretty OK but it's really not value for money. The portion is very small and it's really not worth paying that much amount of money. The Unadon & Chicken Teriyaki Bento was priced RM17.00 each and green tea is RM1.00 each and including tax is about RM41.00. I read through some of the blog previously and some say the restaurant is very nice, but seriously I don't see any nice food there including the mee and the rice. So, will you still go and try? Think about it! Good Luck! :) MY FOOD & DRINKS RATING: 2/5 ; KIMMY FOOD & DRINKS RATING: 2.5 / 5

*Rating is based on the food that we ordered and not overall food.

My Comments: This week is yet another busy weekend for me as I've attended my friend wedding on Friday and work on Saturday and today I manage to spend my Sunday watching movie yet again. This time, I've selected GSC 1 Utama as my destination to watch movie yet again. This movie that I've watched is slighly pretty different then the previous movie that I've watched because this movie is a 3D format. A Christmas Carol is the movie that me & Kimmy have picked for this weekend and we had also planned to go for the 3D version. I remember the last movie I've watched in 3D is Journey To The Center OF The Earth.

OK. Let's go straight to the movie comments. Firstly, since I am watching the Digital 3D format, I would like to comment on the 3D effects before proceeding on giving comments on the storyline. The 3D effects was amazing and perfect and it's nice to watch which gives you total maximum experience of 3D effects and many of the effects looks so real and you can even see the chracters very near to your eyes . WARNING: You might felt a little dizzy while watching the movie and you are advised to close your eyes a little and re-open it back. Before entering the cinemas, you will be given a set of 3D spectacles / glasses and we are get set to go! It's worth of it watching the 3D format because it's cater for 3D effects. About the storyline, it was a very simple storyline and it's mainly cater for kids. There's nothing so special about it and it was totally a family movie for all to enjoy and the storyline was just average. Besides, there will be no subtitles on the 3D format and the language that used in the movie was purely english but it was pretty tough to hear at times and I doubt childen will understand the english because they are using heavy english slang which makes the movie not so voice-friendly. It would be better to have subtitles in future. I would recommend you to this movie and please go for the 3D Digital Format and not the normal format. There are too many entertaining scenes inside the you could experience in 3D format. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

Food Hunt: Sushi Tei, Tropicana City Mall

Welcome back folks. As promised, we are back again for more food hunts updates this week. After trying out Station 1 Cafe yesterday, today me, Kimmy and Alan Leow went to Sushi Tei located inside Tropicana City Mall to try out the sushi there. After trying out Sushi King, Sakae Sushi etc. today we decided to try out another sushi chain in Malaysia. Sushi Tei is one and only sushi outlet in Malaysia located here.

We finished our movie around 5.20pm and we meet up Alan, who is also there for another appointment before joining us to go together to the sushi outlet. The outlet was not so packed that time until 6.30pm, where people started to come in to the restaurant. In fact, the design of the restaurant is pretty ambience and cozy as well. We sat down at the table and immedietely the waiter come and serve us, asking us what drinks that we would like to order. Without looking at the menu, 3 of us ordered Green Tea (Hot). The green tea was hotly boiled and the taste is nice as you can taste the fragrance of the tea. For the main menu, I've ordered Chicken Teriyaki Don & Alan ordered Kitsune Udon (see pictures). For Kimmy, she ordered California Roll only (see pictures). Frankly, the Chicken Teriyaki Don that I've ordered is not so nice as expected. The sauce was very salty that makes the whole rice fragrance damage but the only thing that can cheer up is the chicken is pretty fresh and nice. For Alan dish, he told alexleow-kimmy.com that the Kitsune Udon was tasteless and not nice. You can't even taste any sweetness on the soup and just like drinking water only. It's a very poor servings to customers. For Kimmy's California Roll, something to cheer on because the california roll although is normal (like other sushi chains) but it's nice because the ingredients they use are very fresh except the rice, which is pretty soft. Besides, we also ordered some sushi's as out side orders to try out and overall the sushi is just nice but still i prefer Sakar Sushi or Sushi King outlets.

The bill came and it's about RM69.00 (including tax) for 3 persons and the price is pretty reasonable but unfortunately the food was pretty sucks. The portion of the food was pretty large compared to Sushi King and Sakae Sushi. If you have a chance, perhaps you can give it a try to other dishes and sushi's but do not try out the food as I commented just now (above) because it's not nice and you will regret when you order it. Enjoy your meal! :)

My Comments: Today I am at GSC Tropicana City Mall to catch the most anticipated movie of the year 2009 after Transformers. The cinemas was fully packed because a lot of people would like to watch the movie 2012 brought to you by director Roland Emmerich, I manage to buy tickets from Friday onwards because I know, if i bought on Saturday or Sunday itself, then it will be fully booked and you won't get a place to watch the movie. We arrived at Tropicana City mall at about 2.00pm and we are getting ready to watch the movie there.

Let's go straight to the movie comments. Dubbed as the blockbuster movie of the year 2009 after Transformers, this movie manage to gives user a high profile CGI graphics of disaster including freaking earthquakes and tsunamis which would destruct the earth of mankind. It was a very fully packed of action especially during the struck of earthquake in the movie. Everything seems to be happening too fast and it was a magneficient movie to catch. But still I demanded for more happenings but in my opinion, it's still not enough and I should seeing more action. No doubt the storyline was pretty ridiculious as well as the people who acted in the movie mostly escaped from the tragedy as they should have died in certain scenes but they are still alive. It was a 2 Hours and 40 Minutes movie as I would expect more action as the action was great but not as much as I could predict before the movie. Overall I will still give full marks for this movie because of it's graphics and the happenings in this movie. It's a totally best recommended movie to watch in cinemas and try to go for a Dolby Digital or THX cinemas for more better quality of sound and effects. MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: Station 1, Desa Aman Puri, Kepong

Welcome back to another edition of the Food Hunt. After a wonderful time having food hunt in Kuantan last weekend, this week it would another peaceful week in Kuala Lumpur as we continue our food hunt action. Today is Saturday and it was an unexpected plan to have dinner here at Station 1 at Desa Aman Puri, Kepong. Before that, we plan to have it somewhere at Kepong Industrial Park (KIP) but the restaurant did not open today so we decided to go Station 1 Cafe nearby.

We reach Station 1 at about 8.00pm and for some unexpected circumstances and pretty coinsidence, me & Kimmy saw Kimmy's family having dinner there as well. We look at the menu and we decided to order the food. The service at Station 1, Desa Aman Puri was average as it seems like there's not enough workers working there to cater so many customers. I've ordered Grilled Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce and a glass of Fresh Watermelon Juice (small) (see pictures) meanwhile Kimmy ordered Jumbo Sausage with Black Pepper Sauce together with Ice Honey Lemon (see pictures).

Let's go straight to the comments of the food. The food was pretty dissapointing though overall as it was not so tasty as expected. If you plan to go there for dinner or lunch, I strongly would not recommend you to this branch in Desa Aman Puri. If you plan just for drink, then it's a very suitable place to listen to music (live band on saturdays) and to chit chat with your friends. The Grilled Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce was pretty dissapointing especially with the taste of the chicken because it's pretty sour. The coleslaw also pretty sour though. It's a very bad taste except the mushroom which is still pretty acceptable. But a thumbs up goes to the Fresh Watermelon Juice because it's very juicy and nice. A big recommendation for this one. MY RATING FOOD: 2.5 / 5 ; MY RATING DRINK: 5/5

For Kimmy dish, the Jumbo Sausage was very nice indeed. There are 2 pieces of jumbo sausage and it was served together with Black Pepper Sauce. The jumbo sausage was enrich with cheese inside it and when you eat it, you can feel the cheese melting inside your mouth and this makes the dish very mouth watering. Kimmy recommended this dish to all of you and it's very worth a try. The coleslaw also very bad taste and sour too. The Ice Honey Lemon was also a dissapointing one. It was very very sour and it's lack of honey. This makes the drink very sour and not nice to consume. Not recommended to order this drink. KIMMY RATING FOOD: 5 / 5 ; KIMMY RATING DRINK: 2.5 /5

Food Hunt: DAY 2 Kuantan, Pahang

Today marks the second day in Kuantan. We had our breakfast in hotel at about 9.30am at the hotel coffee house. The food was just average and it contains moderate variety of food. You can find from Asian to Western food including Malaysian favourite food.

We checked out from the hotel at 11.30am as we headed to buy some local souvenirs. After that, we have decided to try out the Curry Laksa located at Teluk Chempedak. The row of shops situated along the main road to Teluk Chempedak parking area is the place that we are looking for as many of the bloggers say the curry laksa is very nice. We've decided to try it out. Surprisingly, on Saturday & Sunday there will be a lot of people but on Monday (today), not many people are here to consume the Curry Laksa. The name shop is called Hoi Yin. The price is RM3.50 per bowl for a medium size Curry Laksa. Both of us ordered that and a glass of barley each. It's value for money and it's very cheap indeed. The curry laksa is very nice but it totally has a different taste compared to Kuala Lumpur or west coast side. Their curry laksa there is not as spicy as here but you still can taste the mild curry flavour which is pretty fragrance to smell. I can say among all the food we've tried in Kuantan, so far curry laksa is the best in town. The chilli is as usual pretty sour and pretty unique as well. I would strongly recommend you to this restaurant because its' curry laksa is very nice, unique and less spicy. RATING: 5/5 KIMMY RATING: 4.5/5.

In the evening, before our departure from Kuantan, without twisting our brain again, we've decided to eat KFC in Kuantan town. For sure, KFC is the best of the best because very seldom you can find nice food in Kuantan. Haha! Well, at about 7.30pm, we left Kuantan town with happy mood although we could not find very nice food in Kuantan except their curry mee and nasi lemak. Enjoy!

Leisure: DAY 2: Kuantan Trip (Place Of Interest)

Today was a second day in Kuantan. In the morning, we did not go anywhere instead and staying in the hotel until 11.00am. We also have our breakfast at the Vistana Hotel and the breakfast was just normal with not much choices indeed. We check out about 11.30am and then heading towards Jalan Gambang to purchase some souvenirs (food) before continuing our journey. Well, today we will only visit Gua Charas, Teluk Chempedak and East Coast Mall as our destination before leaving back to Kuala Lumpur in the evening. At 11.30am, we continue our journey to purchase some souvenirs (food) along Jalan Gambang where the shop is just next to BHPetrol station, Jalan Gambang. The name of the shop is Perniagaan Sin Kee Hung. Here you can find lots of sea crackers, fish, keropok lekor etc. Me & Kimmy bought some of the crackers for souvenirs. RATING: Recommended to come over here as this shop is big for some food souvenirs.

After that, we head straight for lunch at Telok Chempedak before heading towards East Coast Mall in Kuantan for some light shopping. Dubbed as the newest mall in Kuantan, this mall is still pretty small compared to the Berjaya Megamall. We spend almost 45mins to 1 hour there before heading towards Gua Charas, our final destination of the day. We took off from East Coast Mall to Gua Charas (Charas Cave) at about 2.45pm and we reach Gua Charas at about 3.30pm. It's approximately 25KM from Kuantan and the road heading towards Sg Lembing. You need to use the federal route to drive over there and before reaching Gua Charas about 3KM, you need to pass by a palm oil road leading to the cave. The road was pretty bumpy and a lot of holes and you are advised to drive slowly and carefully. Besides, the road leading to the cave also have a lot of cow dung so you need to be careful on that or else, you are on you way washing your car.

Once we reach Gua Charas, up to my shocking that nobody is there since it's a Monday afternoon. It looks a bit creepy because me & Kimmy is the only visitor who came to visit this cave so far. Remember, don't go alone because it's kinda dangerous over there. Try to come in groups. Since we reach there already, we plan to climb up the cave. The parking entrance is RM2.00 for cars and about RM4.00 to go up the cave (as a token of appreciation donated to the temple). You need to climb about 30 steps before reaching the middle part of the cave. Here, you can see some statue of Buddha where you can recite prayers too.

Then after that, you need to climb about 70 steps to reach the temple. It was pretty adventurous because the stairs were pretty steep too (about 70 degrees) and you have to be careful while climbing up there. The air was very cooling while you are on the way up. Once you enter the cave, you can see lots of statues of buddha. You can pray for them and perhaps giving some donations. Once you are pretty deep inside the cave, you can see a large reclining / sleeping buddha inside the cave. As usual you can pray for them and perhaps giving some donations. The path inside the cave are pretty tricky as well and remember to follow the only designated pathway and not follow your own way because it's very dangerous inside the cave. Also the pathway are pretty slippery as well. As I said earlier, go in groups would be better than go by 2 persons or less because it will be very eerie too inside the cafe. RATING: If you like adventure or like to pray for buddha gods, then this is the place for you. If you don't like them, then it would be waste of time and you will sure hate it. Risky to climb the hill to the cave and have to be extra careful and alert.

We left the Gua Charas at about 4.30pm and we head towards Telok Chempedak again for some walk. This time, we just look at the panoramic view of the beach and sea without doing any activities. We plan to have dinner there but unfortunately the KFC in Telok Chempedak was temporarily closed because the air-cond have some problem. We just sat there to watch the breathtaking view there. We left the place at about 6.00pm and heading towards dinner at Kuantan town. We left Kuantan town at about 7.00pm and reach Kuala Lumpur at about 10.15pm. Overall, the trip was fun and relax. The food was moderate (overall) and the place of interest also pretty moderate. Do not expect some nice place of interest in Kuantan because it's actually not much place to choose from except for the beach or seaside. If I have a chance next time, perhaps I would just go near the beaches to enjoy the seaview only. Adios! & Happy Holidays! :)
