Gathering & Food: The Uma Balinese Restaurant, Kota Damansara

Dear All,

Tonight is a very special night as we gathered together for another special gathering especially to all my University Friends. Of course, such a long time that we did not meet since Chinese New Year Gathering and today finally we manage to gather together again to have a very special food that seldom we can find here in Malaysia. This gathering is organized by myself and a good turnover as well and special thanks to Yen Peng, May Low, Kimmy Chung, Chloe Nge, Mun Sai Kit, Mun Jing Kit & Jenny Wong who turned up today for this gathering. We went to The Uma Balinese Restaurant located at Kota Damansara and we are really amazed with the decorations over there. It's like you just entered Bali. Tell you more about it shortly. We reached the restaurant at 7.00pm sharp and we have booked a table for 8 pax.

The restaurant is cozy and clean while the decorations are simply irresistible. If you prefer to dine in Ground Floor, there are normal table and chairs with a much more cozy environment but if you prefer the Balinese style of sitting, then 1st floor is suitable for you as it's seating is like the Japanese style of sitting by putting your leg straight or bend it. We have looked into the menu and since we have 8 pax, we plan to order 2 sets of Paket which can cater 4 persons per Paket. We've ordered Paket A which consists of braised pork meat with sweet sauce, Balinese grilled half chicken, and grilled tuna in banana leaf, together with some condiments (minced fish satay, assam pork satay, Balinese Pork Sausage, hard boiled egg with sambal, mixed vegetables salad, stir fry long bean, and spiced potato fries). For Paket C, which consists of braised pork ribs with sweet sauce, Balinese grilled half chicken, and grilled tuna in banana leaf, together with some condiments (minced fish satay, assam pork satay, Balinese Pork Sausage, hard boiled egg with sambal, mixed vegetables salad, stir fry long bean, and spiced potato fries). There's individual sets as well but to be safe, you better order Paket sets just in case you cannot finish the meal, another 3 persons can help you out. For drinks ME & Kimmy had ordered the Jus Markisa (RM7.00) and it taste great with soothing passion fruit juice with lime and mint. Another refreshing choice and it's sweet & sour in taste and it's really nice and tasty.

Jus Markisa (RM7)

Nasi Kuning

Paket A (RM118)

Paket C (RM118)

The sets costs about RM118 which comes with a huge platter of food including pork, ribs, satay, vegetables, pork, eggs, fried chips as well as chilli sauce and sweet sauce and it simply looks very tempting too. It's only can cater 4 persons and since we have 8 persons, we ordered 2 sets (RM236). Please see photos for more information. The price overall is quite expensive based on the food quantity and the value of the food but one thing I have to admit that the food here is simply awesome. All of us here really enjoyed the Balinese Food and we have a good chat too. I would recommend you to come over here to try out their food as it's more delicious than the ones you find in Bali. This is admitted by some of our members here like Jenny Wong where she commented, the best Balinese Food is found at The Uma. The total bill came and it costs about RM317.00 (plus drinks) for 8 pax and per person we need to pay around RM40.00.
