Food Hunt: DAY 1 Kuantan, Pahang

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. This time, me & Kimmy had made out way far to the east coast side for visiting and also Food Hunting. We had selected Kuantan, Pahang as our visit this time. It was a wonderful journey back there and of course we need some food for our stomach as well and we are going to bring you around Kuantan for some food hunt action. Overall Day 1 food hunt was not so impressive but still acceptable. The food that we've selected is not as tasty as it is and they have a different taste then ours back here in Kuala Lumpur. How does it taste like? Stay tuned for my review below.

At 12.30pm after our trip to Sg Lembing town, about 33KM from Kuantan Town, we've decided to have lunch at Kuantan town. I browse through the GPS and look for any Hainan Chicken Rice around and I've found one. It's called the Restaurant Kampung Hainan. It's situated along Jalan Lim Hoe Lek and just beside the Petronas petrol station. We stopped there to have our lunch and as we sat down, we look at the menu and we've ordered taugeh, honey roasted chicken and 1 kampung chicken (see pictures). For drinks, I've ordered chrysenthemum tea and Kimmy ordered barley. Let me comment on the chicken. Both chicken taste were not as tasty as the ones in Kuala Lumpur. Besides, the flesh of the chicken is very less. The taugeh was acceptable and nice. The chilli is totally different from KL. There, the chilli is pretty much sour and less spicy compared to KL. Overall, it's not recommended for you to stop over there to try out the Hainan Chicken Rice because it's not tasty. RATING: 2.5 / 5 ; KIMMY RATING: 2/5

Then at night about 7.30pm, we went to Kemaman Kopitiam to try out their specilities. Of course, when we speak about Kopitiam, we will be looking forward for their coffee because mostly it's their speciality. There, I ordered Kemaman Coffee and Nasi Lemak Kukus with Sambal Petai. Kimmy ordered Soursoup with Guava and Nasi Lemak Kukus with Curry Chicken (see pictures). The Kemaman Coffee was absolutely great and delicious because it is very "KAWWW!". I've never tried this type of coffee before and once I drink it, it was so tasty and rich in coffee taste. The nasi lemak kukus meanwhile was delicious as well and I really enjoy the food there at Kemaman Kopitiam. For Kimmy, the Soursoup with Guava was very nice and tasty too. It's totally fresh and up to the taste standard. But for her she don't really like the taste of the nasi lemak so she said the nasi lemak was just average. Besides, we also ordered a side dish which is the Cucur Sayur. The cucur sayur was nice though but it's a bit cold when it served to us. Overall, it will be a recommended place to go but don't go during Sunday night (the day I went) because a lot of food is not available for sale as either it finishes fast or no delivery like I've like to ordered Nasi Dagang, Nasi Minyak or Keropok Lekor also not available. The food there was nice and great. RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

Leisure: DAY 1: Kuantan Trip (Place Of Interest)

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to this special edition of the Kuantan Trip (Place Of Interest). We arrived at Kuantan at 15th November 2009 (Sunday) at 10.30am from Kuala Lumpur. This is my very first time travelling to Kuantan and I am very excited about this trip. We already have our own timetable planning on what place to visit. Me & Kimmy's first destination in Kuantan, Pahang is to Sungai Lembing. Sungai Lembing is a quiet town which has its' own history of tin ore. Since we are talking about history here, then we visited the Sg. Lembing Museum about 33KM off Kuantan town. At this museum, you get to see those historic times on how tin ore (Bijih Timah) were collected and their lifestyle at that time. It was a wonderful museum where it's free of charge and you get to know the history of Sungai Lembing. RATING: Recommended Place to Visit. We had our lunch at about 12.30pm at Kuantan town.

In the afternoon about 2.30pm, we checked in the hotel The hotel that we stayed is at Vistana Hotel. It's a 4-star hotel and the first impression that I've step in is that I am very satisfied with their hospitality and their customer service is rather friendly as well. Thumbs up for this hotel. It also equipped with a FREE WIFI services where you can enjoy free internet services inside the hotel you stay. The room rates is pretty reasonable with the service you get and the quality of rooms you enjoy. The rooms were pretty spacious and was clean as well. The Deluxe Room with King Size Bed costs about RM207.00 nett per night. We did have a comfortable stay over there. RATING: Very Recommended Place To Stay.

After we checked in the hotel successfully. then we continue our journey to Taman Teruntum in search of the Mini Zoo. You just need to drive about 5KM for the Vistana Hotel and on the way to Teluk Chempedak beach as well. We arrived at the place at about 3.30pm despite there's some drizzling as well. It's pretty much easy to find this place if you have GPS system equipped inside your car. Everytime I travel, I will use the GPS for easier tracking of the place rather than we find it ourselves if we are pretty new to the place. The mini zoo was pretty dissapointing because there are not much animals to see inside as the cage were mostly empty. One thing is, this mini zoo is free or charge but it's still not a recommended place to go. RATING: Not Recommended To Go At All.

After spending about 20 mins inside the mini zoo, then Me & Kimmy decided to go for a beach walk since Teluk Chempedak is about 5 minutes drive from the Mini Zoo, Taman Teruntum. This beach area is the most beautiful and happening beaches that I've seen so far. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea and the cleanliness of the beach that makes this beach a perfect gateway for a beautiful holiday. At the time, the weather was cloudy and windy too. While I am walking at the beach, it was so cooling and refreshing as well. There's a hotel there as well for you to stay. Hyatt Regency Hotel is the only big hotel names situated at Teluk Chempedak. Of course, we do take photos from there as well. For couples, this is a wonderful place for you to go. RATING: Very Recommended Place To Go. We had our dinner at about 7.30pm as the sky was already dark.

After we had our dinner, we did find something do at night so we decided to go to Berjaya Megamall, Kuantan's largest shopping mall. Inside the area, there are many shops but mostly were already closed because we reach there at about 8.30pm. RATING: Not A Bad Place For Shopping. For more photos, please check my Facebook as I will update the most updates and comprehensive photos as well. Stay tuned for Day 2 Kuantan in my next post.

Food Hunt: Sweet Chat Cafe, Mid Valley Megamall

Hi All,

I was a wonderful evening perhaps for Kimmy but not for me because today I suffered from some mild fever. But before all this, I manage to put aside my sickness and I went to look for some Food Hunt at Mid Valley itself after watching movie. Without wasting any time, I decided to bring Kimmy to Sweet Chat Cafe inside Mid Valley Megamall because I've tried the food before as well as the dessert and it tastes superbly wonderful and nice. Without wasting any more time, we and Kimmy sat down and look at the menu.

For me, I've know what to pick already because I am familiar with this cafe already and Kimmy will take some time to look at the menu because she's new to this cafe. I've ordered the Pasta Set whereby it consists of some selection but I've selected the Smoked Beef Pasta, a cup of drink where I have selected the Blue Ocean and a dessert which I've selected the Pulut Hitam with Tong Yuen (Almond Cream) (see pictures). For this one, I have to give my comments separately. For the pasta, it was not as nice as it seems because the beef is too salty and not up to my expectations (Maybe you will like the taste). The Blue Ocean drink tastes like soda drink and it's pretty nice to consume as well. Lastly the dessert Pulut Hitam with Tong Yuen (Almond Cream flavoured) was simply the best. It was so tasty and great and one of the best that I've ever tried before. MY FOOD RATING: 3/5 ; MY DRINKS / DESSERTS RATING: 5/5

For Kimmy, she ordered the Pasta with spicy beef and Kiwi Sorbet (Char) (see pictures). She did not ordered the set meal because she could not finished it. She told alexleow-kimmy.com that the Pasta with Spicy Beef is not very nice and it very dissapointing. She doesn't like the taste of it and that is why she gave a low marks on this food. I did try some of the pasta and found it tastes like Indian Rojak. Depends on you whether you accept it or not so it's very subjective to give marks on this one. For the Kiwi Sorbet (Char), it was very nice and tasty as well as juicy. I tried some too and found the same comments as what Kimmy gave. It was totally nice. KIMMY FOOD RATING: 2/5 ; KIMMY DRINKS / DESSERTS RATING: 5/5.

Overall the food wasn't that attractive but I still recommend you to try the Black Pepper Chicken with Pasta if you plan to visit Sweet Chat Cafe in future. It was totally nice. This one I've tried previously on this cafe. But a piece of reminder that each and every of the pasta served there are all VERY SPICY. If you plan to try other pasta besides the black pepper chicken, think twice again. But I strongly recommend you the drinks and desserts there because it was simply amazing and wonderful. The price was pretty reasonable and it's not expensive at all. The bill came and my set was RM16.90 meanwhile Kimmy's set costs RM10.90 (Pasta with Spicy Beef ) and the Kiwi Sorbet (Char) costs about RM6.90. Including tax, overall we are charged RM39.90 and it's still reasonable despite the pasta were not up to our expectations. If you plan to visit Sweet Chat Cafe in Mid Valley, remember to try out their drinks or desserts only and their food is not so recommended. Have a nice day in food hunt! :)

My Comments: Today me & Kimmy went to GSC Mid Valley for shopping and in the same time we went for this movie because we never seen this kind of movie before in Cinemas. Pratically, this movie is a cartoon based movie and then it's very suitable for childen to watch it. For adults, you might feel a little bit odd because it really shows a lot of "out of mind" actions including those really incredible action and doesn't make sense at all. Unlike, G-Force, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs etc. type of movie, Doraemon focuses mainly for children. Well, since it is suitable for children, the storyline is very hard to understand. Do not expect the childen to understand it because me & Kimmy was also figuring out what the movie trying to say till the end. The storyline overall was meaningful and nice but hard to understand. I still manage to get the final outcome of the story but Kimmy does not. The movie was pretty fun though but still it's not the best of all. Me & Kimmy just satisfied about this movie and we won't be giving a high marks for this movie. I would not recommend this movie for movie-goers but for kids, not pretty much recommended also because the ending is pretty hard to understand and it just for the variety for the children, then it still acceptable. MY RATING: 2/5 KIMMY RATING: 2.5/5

Food Hunt: Wong Kok Char Chan Teng (旺角茶餐厅), 1 Utama

It was a lovely Sunday evening. After watching movie at GSC 1 Utama, ME & Kimmy once again cracking our head for what to eat during dinner. This time, we've decided to look at the 1 Utama Guide Board to find out what we should try out this time. Finally, we've decided to take Chinese Food for our dinner today as I was trying to hunt for rice as 2 days I did not eat rice already. For Kimmy, she is also hunting for rice as she is pretty hungry at that time as well. Without any hesitation, we've chosen Wong Kok Char Chan Teng (旺角茶餐厅) as our food destination this time.

We reach the restaurant at about 7.30pm and there were still places for us to sit although the restaurant was half crowded already. The crowd started to pour in pretty shortly after that and we are lucky to get a place at this hour. Once we sat down, the waiter immedietely brought us the menu and the service was fantastic as well. Thumbs up for this one. Once we look at the menu, we already know what to order for our main course.

I've ordered Cheese Baked Rice with Szechuan Pork (Italian Sauce) & a glass of Honey Lemon (see picture). The taste of the Cheese Baked Rice was amazingly nice and I guess it's better than Kim Gary restaurant. The taste is pretty sweet and sour that makes the rice very juicy and perfect. You should try it if you have a chance. The Honey Lemon Ice was too very nice as well with a fresh and deep in taste. I would strongly recommend you for the food and the drink that I've just introduced just now. For Kimmy, it was totally a dissapointing one. She ordered Cheese Baked Rice with Seafood & a glass of Honey Lemon as well (see picture). The Cheese Baked Rice was pretty dissapointing according to her because the taste of the rice is just like green curry. The taste is also similiar to Indian Curry and it doesn't suits her taste. I've tried some of the rice and I found that the curry doesn't suits the rice and if you continue eating it, you will feel that you want to vomit. A totally bad menu for this one and it's strongly not recommended for you if you want to try out this dish.

Overall the price of the dish were kind of reasonable and not so expensive. For 2 persons, the bill came and it's about RM38.90 (including a 10% service charge). It was a standard charge for many restaurants in town and it's normal. For my dish, it costs around RM13.80 (for the Cheese Baked Rice with Szechuan Pork) and the Honey Lemon Ice costs acound RM3.80. For Kimmy's dish costs around RM14.20 (Cheese Baked Rice with Seafood) and the Honey Lemon Ice costs acound RM3.80. If you have a chance, do try out the cheese baked rice (in dim sum type plate) because it's very recommended and tasty and NOT the Seafood type (normal plate). You are also welcomed to try out other food and give us some feedback. Definately we will come back to try other food and hopefully it does not dissapoint us. Enjoy! :) MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 2/5

*Rating is based on the food and drinks WE ORDERED ONLY & not overall food.
