It's time for the Halloween again and alexleow-kimmy.com would like to wish all readers a Happy Halloween Day. Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31st. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.

The day is often associated with the colors black and orange, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o'-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. So don't be surprised if you are invited to the Halloween party where you need to wear special costumes (such as ghost, haunted appearance etc.). Food Hunt: Nasi Lemak Cikgu, Kelana Jaya

It was a very heavy downpour back here in the Klang Valley and it had been this situation for past a week and this makes the weather so good for us to sleep. Well, after waking up from the evening nap, ME & Alan continued to search for good food as this week, we will be without Kimmy because she's busy today. Then I tried to search and think what's the best food to eat for dinner and suddenly Nasi Lemak came to my mind and without any hesitation, ME & Alan had go to eat it.

We have visited Nasi Lemak Cikgu located at Dataran Glomac at Kelana Jaya. We reached the restaurant at about 8.00pm and to my surpirse, there's no people in the restaurant and both of us are the only customers until we finish eating where they are 2 couples who came in to dine in as well. It's a self service restaurant where once you reach there, you then pick the dishes you want from them and then select wether you wanted to dine in or take away. Both of us chose to dine in and I've ordered Nasi Lemak with a piece of Rendang Chicken (RM7.00 per plate) and Alan does the same too by ordering the same dishes. For Drinks, Teh O Ais Limau (RM1.40) is my choice while Alan ordered Teh Panas (RM1.00).

Frankly, the sambal is the talking point of the whole Nasi Lemak thingy. Besides the sambal, the chicken is just so-so but the sambal was the most delicious amongst all. When you mix the sambal with the rice, it was perfect and it was so mouth watering that makes our appetite even want more. The rice is well cooked where it has the fragrance too. This is one of the best Nasi Lemak I have ever eaten in terms of the sambal and I'm satisfied with it. For Alan, he thinks that the Nasi Lemak is just so-so although he still admit that the sambal was the best among all. The chicken taste is too salty and needs more improvement. But based on other blogs who also wrote on this restaurant, they recommend the sotong (cuttlefish) instead of the chicken as the cuttlefish is nicer but unfortunately the cuttlefish had sold out when we dine in that time. About the drinks, both Teh O Ais Limau and Teh Panas was just so-so and the taste was not so nice as expected.

Overall, the Nasi Lemak is still acceptable and I would still recommend you to come over here to try out the Nasi Lemak but I have to also admit that it was slightly overpriced. Even, the chicken portion is pretty small and it does not worth the price we pay for a plate of RM7.00. I think once in a while dine in should be OK. I think you should try it with the cuttlefish instead of the chicken as well. The Nasi Lemak Sotong (Cuttlefish) would be nicer and cheaper too. Food Hunt: Toast and Roast Restaurant, SS2 Petaling Jaya

Rain Rain Go Away..............

This is our mood at the moment where ME & Alan had lunch today on a wet wet afternoon. No doubt, our mood become relaxing because of the rain but we are having difficulties getting out from the car because of the heavy rain that poured inside Klang Valley. However, special thanks to Alan, he brought me to eat of the the most famous Char Siew and Hakka Mee in SS2 Petaling Jaya. No doubt about it, I agreed and we head towards there for our lunch.

We reach there around 1.15pm and the crowd had filled the restaurant up with no mercy. Luckily we do not wait until very long to get our seats. Then the crowd keep on coming in throughout the 1 hour while we are dining inside the restaurant and some have to queue up waiting to be seated. The business is very good an as usual since business is good, you need to wait at least 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Once we sat down, it does not take very long for the waitress to serve us as we were served with a small menu. There's quite a lot of variety to choose from ranging from Hakka Mee to Rice and their specialty over here is actually the Roasted Pork (Char Siew) where many claimed it's one of the best in PJ.

Finally both of us would love to try Hakka Mee over here and I've ordered the Traditional Hakka Mee (with minced pork) large for RM6.00 (small for RM5.00), and Alan ordered the Hakka Mee with Roasted Pork large for RM6.00 (small for RM5.00). For drinks, Alan told alexleow-kimmy.com that the drinks here are just so-so, and so both of us ordered Chinese Tea (RM0.50 each) for our drinks. Yes! Since it's crowded, we have to wait about 30 minutes for our Hakka Mee to arrive. Once it arrive, without any hesitation, ME & Alan whacked the whole Hakka Mee and it took us about 10 minutes to finish it. Basically, the Traditional Hakka Mee with minced pork is nice and the mee is very soft too. And then, you need to eat it with the chilli sauce that was provided and it was nice too. Although it has nothing special about it, but I believe many people came to eat the Hakka Mee is because of the tenderness of the mee itself and when it was mixed with the chilli sauce. For Alan's Hakka Mee with Roasted Pork, it was nice especially the Roasted Pork. It has a almost same standard as the Glass Roasted Pork and it tastes nice too. The juiciness of the Roasted Pork was also another talking point and it was superb too.

The portion meanwhile is reasonable and acceptable judging according to the price itself. for RM6.00 for a large portion, I think it's reasonable as it was huge too. The mee is also a lot and at least ME & Alan are enjoying our meal very much. The bill came and it costs us about RM13.00 for both of us (RM6.50 per person) and I would say it's very reasonable too. Do come over and try out the food over here no matter you are Hakka Mee lover or the Roasted Pork lover and in fact both also serves the best in PJ. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; ALAN RATING: 4/5

Food Hunt: Good Old Place (老 地 方) Restaurant, Bandar Manjarala, Kepong

Welcome back to the next edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy had supposedly attending another appointment but it was just cancelled in the very last minute and we have decided to try something new today. We have decided to try out this restaurant called Good Old Place Restaurant located at Bandar Manjarala in Kepong just opposite Kepong Village Mall.

We reached the restaurant at about 8.00pm and there's crowd at the restaurant but not fully seated. There's still a lot of places still yet to be occupied but they have 2 shoplots to cater the crowd and it's more than enough. It's a western themed restaurant but they still served the Asian Delights as well and not only Western Cuisine.

We sat down and we were immediately served by the waiter over there and it was fast too. We browse through the menu and found out that the variety of food served over here are pretty much good and we are anxiously waiting to try out the food too. I've ordered Cantonese Fried Rice with Prawn & Chicken (RM9.90) while Kimmy ordered the Sizzling Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce (original is Brown Sauce) (RM13.90). For drinks, I've ordered Watermelon Juice (RM3.80) while Kimmy ordered Star Fruit Juice (RM3.80).

It does not took very long for the food to come and we are satisfied with the quality service offered at the restaurant. Once it arrived, we are very satisfied with the portion because the portion is very huge and it really shocked us too for both of our main course. The Cantonese Fried Rice with Prawn & Chicken taste was pretty normal not so impressive. I tried and the taste is slighly tasteless and then the chicken sauce is pretty tasteless too. But still I can eat it with chilli sauce served. The Sizzling Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce taste is good for me but not for Kimmy because she felt is chicken has a smell that the chicken was then kept for quite some time but for me I think it was OK. So far, no stomach ache yet! LOL! But both of us must admit that the Black Pepper Sauce was above average and still acceptable but still it was no so spicy enough just yet. About both of the fruit juices (Watermelon & Star Fruit), it was very fresh and I have to admit it was well served (PERFECT!). The taste was simply marvelous. Thumbs up for the fruit juices.

For the price of RM31.40, I think the price is very reasonable too. The portion of the food is pretty huge although the food was not so impressive. I would still recommend you to come over here to try out the food here besides ordering these two that we have ordered. But once again, remember to try our their fruit juices as it's really good and impressive. Enjoy! MY RATING: 3/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3/5

Lifestyle: Esso Mobil Petrol

I am writing this article mainly to talk about petrol / fuel brand that was sold in Malaysia for some time back. Introducing the Esso Mobil petrol that was sold widely here in Malaysia. I have tried their petrol recently by filling in 3 full tanks and basically I find out that this petrol is really nice to use but it's slightly under power especially during the pickups. You can hear a loud roaring engine too while you rev and upon you reached 80Km/ph, you engine even roar louder and it's slightly rough too.

But many people love this petrol because it's quite easy to find as it's accessible within the Klang Valley and in most major roads. It has more stations than BHPetrol too. Secondly is because of the Smiles Loyalty Card Programme. For every RM1 you spend by pumping petrol or shop at their mart, you can collect 1 point and it's very worth every cents you pay too. Furthermore, your points do not expire as long as you pump once in every 12 months. That is why many people can collect as much as 30,000 points using Smiles Card. It's very convinient to apply too. Just walk in any Esso or Mobil petrol stations and sign up and you can get your card straight away to collect points. Now that's easy because Esso & Mobil are drivers too!

Overall, this petrol is a good quality petrol that can be trusted and I would recommend you to pump too and try to see if it gives you difference if you have not do so. For Shell and Petronas customers, you may want to try Esso / Mobil to see the difference too. In terms of mileage, it gives a very good mileage too and it's almost same like BHPetrol. If we do a proper comparison, I would feel that BHPetrol have better acceleration compared to Esso / Mobil. My rating would be:

Food Hunt: Ultimate Cheesy 7 Pizza from Pizza Hut, Pizza Hut Carrefour Kepong

Hello Everybody,

Welcome back to yet another Food Hunt. Today is a public holiday as ME & Kimmy had decided to go out for a food hunt where we wanted to try new food. And YES! It's definitely new where we have chosen the Ultimate Cheesy 7 Pizza from Pizza Hut. We dine in at Pizza Hut Carrefour Kepong. We reached the restaurant at around 8.00pm and it was very less crowd. Only a few tables being occupied. After we sat down, we were immediately served with the menu and without any hesitation, we plan to try out the new pizza with set.

We have ordered the Ultimate Cheesy 7 Pizza SET 1 which contains 2 glasses of Mountain Dew fizzy drink, 2 mushroom soups & a garlic bread as well as a medium sized Pizza. The Mountain Dew fizzy drink is nice. The garlic bread was fantastic as it was freshly baked and the butter tastes nice as well. The mushroom soup looks normal and nothing special about it. OK! The most important thing to introduce is the Ultimate Cheesy 7 Pizza. I have to admit that it has a lot of cheese that was baked inside the pizza and it was simply irresistible. If you are a cheesy lover, this meal is definitely a must try for you but please be reminded also that there's nothing so special about the taste of the cheese. What you can taste is actually the cheese without any special taste. You can only get to eat the cheese without any special taste that came out from the cheese. I hope you get what I mean. The cheeses that contained at the pizza including Romano, Monterrey Jack, Parmesan, Provolone, Mozzarella, Cheddar & Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Overall, it's a satisfying meal for us as well.

The price meanwhile was acceptable as you pay RM38.00++ for a set meal and you get lots of things to eat too including a medium sized Ultimate Cheesy 7 Pizza for 2 people, 2 glasses of Mountain Dew fizzy drinks, garlic bread & 2 bowl of mushroom soups. Especially for cheese lovers, I would recommend you to try out this pizza as you will not regret. For those who have not try, it's worth try it as well but do not expect it to be super great to eat. It's just satisfying yourself with a simple meal. Since this is a limited edition pizza, try it now before it ends anytime soon! Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

Festival: Happy Deepavali

I on behalf of alexleow-kimmy.com would like to wish all Hindu's readers of my blog a Happy Deepavali. May the year 2009 brings luck, prosperity and of course a brighter light to you and your blessed luck in future. Hindu's around the globe celebrate Deepavali (also known as Festival Of Light).

During the Deepavali day, Hindu's will go to the temple to perform their prayers and give blessings to their God. After performing the prayers in the morning, then they will welcomed their invited guests to their house where various food and drinks will be served to their guests. Wira 1.5GL auto : Thanks bro for the awesome product. Installed it yesterday by myself. At first, I am not confiedence on DIY to install but after reading the manual, its quite easy! I am so proud of myself! At such low price, at first, I doubt I will see any major improvement. This morning I drove my car and i had to lower down the air cond temp as its soooo cold already! Thats the first improvement i seen on my old LMST engine. Food Hunt: The Manhattan Fish Market, e@Curve

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. It's dinner time as ME & Kimmy had earlier planned to eat the giant platter at The Manhattan Fish Market located at e@Curve. It was a beautiful Sunday evening and after some shopping, both of us are very hungry especially it's almost reaching dinner time.

We reach the restaurant at around 6.45pm and the restaurant is already very crowded but still there's table for both of us. Once we sat down, we were immediately served with the menu and it took us about 5 minutes to look at the whole menu to decide what we should order. Finally we have come out with a plan where we share our meal this time by ordering the Giant Platter (RM55.90) together with 2 Tropical Breeze Mocktail (RM5.90 each). It does not took very long for the food to be served and once it arrived, we are totally shocked with the portion as it was real large and that time, both of us are thinking very hard how to finish this thing!

The Giant Platter is really value for money as it contains a lot of fried seafood on the platter that comes together with Garlic Rice at the bottom of the platter. There's a chilli and mayonnaise sauce being served together with the giant platter as well. The seafood that came together with the platter includes fried prawns, squid, calamari, fish, oyster and some broccoli and some carrots. The portion was huge and we are amazed with it. Furthermore, we ordered the correct drinks as the Tropical Breeze Mocktail cools us down with a soda and sour taste drink that would enhance our appetite to eat more. The drinks was very nice indeed and it very recommended to all of you.

For the price of RM70.00++ plus government and service tax, I would say it's still value for money although the price is a bit expensive. But please be informed that what you ordered are actually seafood and normally seafood is kind of expensive. For ME & Kimmy, both of us came out very full from the restaurant after we force ourselves to finish the food without any wastage and we have to spend about 2 hours to finish the whole giant platter thingy. I would recommended you to try out the Giant Platter and the Tropical Breeze Mocktail as it suits your appetite as well. If this giant platter is shared by 3 persons, it would be just nice but if both are big eaters, then it will be just sufficient for you. You will not regret. Besides the giant platter, it also have lots of varieties to choose from including spaghetti seafood, garlic rice with seafood and so on. Food Hunt: Paddington House Of Pancakes, The Curve

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of our usual food hunt during the weekends. Once again ME & Kimmy had a lovely Sunday today as we visited The Curve and we plan to try out 2 food outlets over there. One of the food outlets mentioned here is the Paddington House Of Pancakes. Finally I get a chance to try this restaurant since 5 years back that I did not visited this restaurant already. We reach the restaurant at about 2.50pm and the crowd is very less despite it's already past lunch hour. Still, it has a coupled of tables occupied. But after 4.00pm (tea time), the crowd started to build up and the restaurant is almost crowded.

Once we sat down, we were served with the menu and the staff over there are very friendly too. We browse through the menu and we've decided to order the following. I've ordered the Signature Swedish Pancake with Banana & Coconut (RM12.90) while Kimmy ordered Signature Swedish Pancake as well with Strawberry & Peach (RM12.90). For drinks, both of us ordered Ice Lemon Tea (RM5.90 each). It does not take a very long time for our food to arrive (approximately 10 minutes) and we are satisfied with the waiting time as well. To our surprise, the portion of the pancake is large and the design is very beautiful as well. Besides the fruits; no matter it's banana, strawberry or peaches, they are not stingy and they gave a lot of fruits for us to make our appetite even more better. There's a scoop of Ice Cream on top the of Swedish Pancake and it was nice too. Top quality Ice Cream too.

The Swedish Pancake of Banana & Coconut as well Strawberry & Peach is very nice indeed. We managed to talk to the manager of the store who is from Sweden and both of us praised the food and the portion of the food and we told them that we will visit this restaurant yet again based on its food and the generous staff of the restaurant too. It was very special and the taste was simply wonderful. The Ice Lemon tea meanwhile is a little bit normal and there's nothing special about it.

The bill came and it costs us about RM40.00++ plus the tax. Just for the pancakes, I think the price is slightly expensive but you if go there for the food, then it's a different story. If you love the food over there, then you must go there no matter what the price costs you. But definitely for the price you pay and you get great food, I guess you will not regret paying it because for good food, it will make your day lovely. I would totally recommend you to come over here to try out their pancakes if you have not do so as it will be delicious. Not only the Swedish pancakes that was served here, there's lots of varieties of pancakes serve here such as Burger Pancakes, Omelette Pancakes and many more.
