Leisure: Golden Screen Cinemas, Paradigm Mall

Dear All,

Last weekend, I managed to visit Paradigm Mall yet again and this time I would like to try out the new cinema which was being introduced inside Paradigm Mall. It was indeed a modern cinema. The 9-hall cinema located on the third floor of Paradigm Mall is also the first to introduce the 3D Glasses booth which allows for an easy glasses collection and drop-off point for those watching 3D movies. This cinema is also disabled friendly. The new cinemas have incorporated green concepts such as energy-saving LED lights, water saving fittings in the washroom and other sustainable features in the cinema.

The cinemas designs are inspired by the digital revolution in cinema technology and visuals depicting digital effects.GSC has also extended the foyer to include an outdoor balcony for corporate screenings. Moviegoers can enjoy a splendid movie experience as the cinema is introducing the Dolby 3D glasses. The interior of the cinema looks nice and lovely too. Besides, it looks like a high class cinema with nine halls, out of which six are digital halls. So do expect more digital 2D or 3D movies to be shown at GSC Paradigm Mall.

I have experience the cinema since day 3 of the opening operations where ME & Kimmy had watched Snow White and The Huntsman in Digital 2D. The surround system are fully equipped with the latest Dolby Digital 7.1 and the sound is very clear and crisp. The screen meanwhile is huge and the seating is very comfortable as well. I would rate this cinema a 5 star cinema with good seats and screen as well as the surround system. Dear All,

It's been a great pleasure that finally my birthday has arrived. This year is my second year entering the 30's so I am getting older and older by now. Well, nothing has changed as my career and love life are this year my luck is very good especially on investments this year. It's a good news and I hope to build from this great investments to gain more in future. I would like to extend my thanks to all of you who wishes my Happy Birthday on my Facebook and via SMS.

I am very happy to receive those messages and I gladly hope that you feel the same too where I wish all of you prosperous in your health and wealth too. Do not give up and try to overcome from failures and vowed to do better than that as life goes on. Once again, I would like to thank my special Kimmy Chung for supporting me throughout this 4 years and I love you so much. Food Hunt: Snowflakes, Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. Today ME & Kimmy had eventually continue or journey of food and after our main dinner course, we walk a while and then proceed to have dessert at the mall. We have chosen Snowflakes located at Paradigm Mall. For your information, this is my first time trying out Snowflakes and I am very excited. We reached the restaurant at about 8.00pm and the crowd is pretty less considering it's dinner time and not dessert time. We manage to queue up and there's nobody at the queue at that time. There are a lot of dessert to choose from ranging from a bowl of dessert to their signature drinks as well.

If you are new to Snowflakes, let me tell you the rules to order. Firstly you need to choose your Series. There are 3 series to choose from ranging from Jelly Grass Series (RM6.50) (Option Hot or Cold),  Taroballs Series (RM6.50) and Soya Ice Series (RM6.50). In this case, ME & Kimmy had decided to try out the Soya Ice Series. Secondly, you need to choose the set of toppings. There are 5 set to choose from ranging from Set 1: Green Bean +Lotus Seed + Pearl, Set 2: Sweet Potato + Barley + Pearl, Set 3: Red Bean + Peanuts + Pearl, Set 4: Red Bean + Taro + Pearl, Set 5: Kidney Bean + Black Glutinous Rice + Pearl. In this case, ME & Kimmy had chosen Set 4: Red Bean + Taro + Pearl. It only costs RM6.50.

After that you are in the waiting list.They will give you a very cool device and we named it as a beeping UFO where you can first take your seat and the beeping UFO will beep with sound once it's ready for collection. Then you bring the beeping UFO together with you to redeem the order. This service also first of its kind in Malaysia and it's very special. It does not take very long for the dessert to arrive. The portion is big and satisfactory and we are amazed with the portion and the amount of ingredients on the dessert. It was tasty and based on the set we've ordered, the Soya is nice and just nice with slightly sweetness in it. The Red Bean given is fresh as well as the Taro. It also contains yam which is very fresh and delicious as well. The pearl would be a perfect finish to the whole bowl as it's simply nice to chew and juicy too. We love the set that we've ordered and we were not regret and would definitely come back again.

 With the price of RM6.50 per bowl, I would say it's very reasonable with the portion given and the given amount of ingredients at the dessert. I would strongly recommend you to any of the Snowflakes branch around the Klang Valley to try out as it's simply delicious. Again I would say that I would come back to try other flavour as well in future. Before I conclude, if you are new to Snowflakes, upon your purchase, the cashier will normally give you a Snowflakes Card for you to collect the chop and for every 10 chops, you will get a bowl for free. Also remember that do not go during peak hours especially weekends between 2.00pm - 6.00pm and after 8.30pm as it will be very crowded and you will have to wait for the long queue as well as hard to find a place to sit as well. Food Hunt: Fish & Co. , Paradigm Mall

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. Today ME & Kimmy had again visited Paradigm Mall and we are here for a movie as well as windows shopping. In the meantime, while doing these 2 tasks, of course we would also like to try out the food over here. After watching movie and towards the end of shopping, we've finally decided to settle down for dinner. We have chosen Fish & Co. Restaurant as our dinner destination. We reached the restaurant at about 7.00pm and the crowd started to build up but there are still place yet to be filled and we've also managed to get a seat for ourselves as well.

We sat down and were served immediately with the menu. We browse through the menu and we find less variety of food served except for fish and spaghetti. But we can't blame them because they are specialize in fish cuisine and I must say there's a lot of choices to choose from for the fish menu. After looking their menu, we've decided to order the fish set which consists of Italian Fish & Chips (RM15.95) and add another RM7.50 for a Fish Chowder (soup) and their signature drink Kola Tonic. You can also choose their signature Peach drink as well besides the Kola Tonic. This is the meal that I've ordered while Kimmy ordered New York Fish & Chips (RM15.95) and a glass of Iced Water (RM0.80). We shared out the soup and drinks because we plan to have another round of dessert after this.

The service is really good and it does not take very long for the food to be served to us. We only needed to wait for about 10 minutes and our food finally arrived. We are very hungry though. The Italian Fish & Chips is good and tasty where the fish will melt inside your mouth by its own and it's very delicious. The french Fries given is also good as it contains strong Potato Flavour as well. There are 2 choices of sauce given which is the mayonnaise and chilli sauce. We do dip the fish and the french fries into the mayonnaise and the chilli sauce and it tastes amazingly nice as well. The only cons about this meal is the lack of Mozzarella Sauce that is served together with the fish. For Kimmy's New York Fish & Chips, it has the same comments as what I've experience. The Kola Tonic drinks was awesome with the taste of some salty fizzy with ice. You should order this when you're here. Really good! The Fish Chowder meanwhile is very creamy and rich in taste too. Wow! Really awesome! Overall, the portion is average and it's really value for money. The food is nice ans awesome too.

New York Fish & Chips

Italian Fish & Chips

The price is pretty reasonable based on the portion we get and the taste of food which is really good. We really enjoy the food over there and we vowed to come back again. Do try out their fish set as not only they have Italian and New York flavour but they do have others such as Singapore, Malaysia and their classic dish as well. Again the price we have to pay is about RM44.20 which includes a 5% Service Charge. I would totally recommend you to come over here to try out the food over here and you will simply love it. Remember, try avoid during peak hours especially weekends lunch or dinner time as you need to wait for the seat as it would be very crowded. If we were to compare Manhattan Fish Market, I would still prefer Manhattan as it's more nicer but this would be enough for both of us to give full marks as well. Enjoy! Cinema Movie: Snow White And The Huntsman

My Comments: Finally I have watched this movie and I am glad that I've watched this movie at the newly opened cinema GSC Paradigm Mall located at Kelana Jaya in Petaling Jaya. I am glad that this cinema is within walking distance from where I am staying now. If you are a big fan of Snow White where you read it on storybook or novel, you will simply love the movie as well. Overall, it was a well plotted movie and a very good storyline. It was an adventurous movie and we can see the journey of Snow White where she was captured and then she manage to run away and then came back to revenge. Kristen Stewart (Snow White) and Chris Hemsworth (Huntsman) did a very good job in this movie and I am delighted with their splendid performance in this movie. There's a lot of action and suspense in this movie and in between the journey, Snow White had a lot of helpers who eventually helped her to revenge and there's also some part where it's very touching as well. It's a great movie to watch especially for the female and I guess they will simply love it. The whole family as well as the kids will love this as well. I would recommend you to watch this movie and be prepared to enter the adventurous and suspense journey as well as excitement too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: BBQ Chicken, 1 Utama Shopping Center

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy had visited 1 Utama Shopping Center to shop and watching movie as part of our leisure. After that we did find a great place for dinner which our last visit is back in 2009 and today ME & Kimmy had eventually visited this restaurant again. Introducing BBQ Chicken located at the new wing of 1 Utama Shopping Center.

We reached the restaurant at about 7.00pm and there's less crowd inside the restaurant. Only a few tables occupied and it's on a father's day evening and their business was pretty disappointing and I am worried the food quality might drop from the previous visit. Without any hesitation, we've decided to try the 2 dishes that we ordered last time which is the Korean Charbroiled with Rice and Coleslaw (RM17.90) and Jerk BBQ with Mashed Potato and Coleslaw (RM15.90). For drinks, we both ordered Ice Lemon Tea (RM3.90) and Ice Water (RM1.00) respectively. The food are served within 10 minutes.

By looking at the price, it looks unchanged from our previous visit and the portion of the food looks the same as well. The Korean Charbroiled with Rice and Coleslaw was still nice with the nice aroma of grilled chicken into perfection. It contains 2 pieces of chicken breasts topple with grilled BBQ. I enjoyed the meal and the rice was nice too with a special aroma taste. For the Jerk BBQ, the BBQ sauce was noticeable and it's very tasty indeed. However, the mashed potato was not so nice and it's just so-so.

The price of the meal is pretty reasonable based on the amount of food we eat and we have to pay RM42.57 without government tax but inclusive of service charge. It was a great dinner meal for both of us considering we are very satisfied with the food we ate today. We would come back again once in a while to try out the other food served in this restaurant. My Comments: Today ME & Kimmy had visited GSC 1 Utama to catch the movie and in the same time to go shopping around 1 Utama. It had been such a long time that we did not catch a movie and today we could spend some time. If you do catch the previous sequence of Madagascar movies, this third chapter is just as good as the previous one but I felt it still lacked of suspense as well as the jokes. The storyline is well plotted but the jokes aren't that impressive and entertaining as the first and second episode. Overall, it's a great movie to catch especially for the whole family and the kids as well. Again, this is a animation movie and there's no logic to see and it's a very straight forward to understand movie and do expect some entertaining stunts in this movie that could at least amazed you. There's some parts with emotions that can make you cry but I think it's just OK. If you want more laughs, the penguins are the most hilarious characters among all and you will really Laugh Out Loud! With all the pro and cons, I would still recommend you to go and watch this movie and do not expect the best but still good too overall. Enjoy! MY RATING: 3/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Festival: Happy Father's Day 2012

Dear All,

First and foremost, alexleow-kimmy.com would like to wish all Father in this world a Happy Father's Day. Today is a day where we should be remembering our father where they are the king of the family and they are the one who raise and takeover the whole family to ensure safety and peaceful among their family members.

During this special occasion, we must cherish the moments with our father. What can we do on Father's Day? Of course, you can actually do a lot of things to celebrate with your father including treating him for food, buying her presents and most importantly giving her a hug or kiss (daughter) to show your love to your father. I am sure he will be very happy while receiving all this lovely things from their daughter or son.

Remember, if you are in the midst of rushing to celebrate father's day with your lovely and caring father, remember to drive safely on the road because your father wants you to reach home safely and celebrate with him. Enjoy yourselves during this day with your father and had a good chat with him as well. Happy Father's Day! :)

Food Hunt: Ochado Signature, Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy had continue our dessert time after completing our main course dinner. We walked thru from the ramen restaurant and about 100 meters heading towards this restaurant. This restaurant is another chain restaurant for tea and it's yet another Chatime competitor. Introducing Ochado Signature located at Paradigm Mall. This restaurant sells lots of varieties of tea's flavour and different types of taste and we can't try all the tea just yet. Since we are full and we wanted to try out the quality of their tea, we've ordered the Shiro Ball Green Milk Tea (RM6.40 regular). There 2 sizes of each of the teas which is the medium and large. For large size, they charge you additional RM1.00. You can also choose the sugar level you want ranging from heavy to less. But you can't choose the ice level you want as you are only allowed to choose the sugar level. The best sugar level to take according to the cashier is 75% which is recommended. Also the regular tea price is ranging from RM4.90 to RM5.90 depends on size. Only new teas or special teas are priced slightly expensive as what I've ordered at the top.

It does not take long for the tea to be prepared and the concept is 100% same just like Chatime. You will be given a coupon and if you visited Ochado for about 10 times, then you will get a drink for free. Now let me tell you about the taste of the tea. Taste wise I would still prefer going back Chatime as the taste of tea is not as good as Chatime and it's considered good too. The fragrance of the tea is not as nice as the ones boiled and blended by Chatime. It's still a recommended try by the way if you are bored of Chatime or you would try something else and Ochado Signature Tea is another alternative for you. The Shiro Ball Green Milk Tea is a must try as the shiro ball is good to chew although it's softer than the normal bubble balls. The tea is nice but not as nice as Chatime. Do try out other teas as well and give me some feedback on it! Of course I will be trying it soon as it's sop near my house. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5

Food Hunt: Goku Raku Ramen, Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya

Hello what's up everybody!

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy had visited Paradigm Mall and it's Kimmy first time visiting the mall. We had a great walk (about 2 hours) visiting almost each and every fashion shops and eventually bought something as well. After a long walk, we've surveyed for lots of food & beverages restaurant and for us too choose is too many and finally we've put our trust to try out Japanese Food. We have visited  Goku Raku Ramen and it's our first Food & Beverages that we've tried over here. Goku Raku Ramen has 3 branches and the latest one would be here instead of Mid Valley Megamall and Gurney Paragon in Penang. It's also the owner of Sushi Zanmai and Pasta Zanmai as well.

We have to queue for about 5 minutes before we get our seat and frankly speaking we reach the restaurant at about 7.00pm and the restaurant is already full. After 7.30pm, there's a long queue waiting to be seated. So my advice would be go there early during weekends although during weekdays it's packed too. Once we sat down, we were served with the menu and then we thoroughly looked at the menu to decide what to order. Now since we got 2 persons, I've ordered the rice while Kimmy ordered the Ramen to see which is the best.

Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen (RM16.90)

Stamina Don (RM17.90)

Kimmy ordered the Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen (RM16.90) while I've ordered the Stamina Don (RM17.90). For drinks, both of us ordered Green Tea (RM2.90 per glass). Now what is the ingredients inside Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen? Tonkotsu Broth Noodles is topped with Char Siew, Flavoured Egg, Black Fungus, Spring Onion, Leek, Bamboo Shoot, Seaweed and Fragrant Garlic Oil. You can choose the small or big portion as well. Kimmy ordered the small portion. The Ultimate Tonkotsu Ramen is good except the soup is very salty. If you love salty, then this meal is perfect for you but if you don't then sorry to say it's not nice. Besides, if you feel salty, you can add the curry powder (that is provided at the table) and mix together with the soup to dine and it's far more better and more acceptable taste as well. You may try out this dish but do not expect too much for its Ramen quality. Kimmy also complained that since the soup very salty, it will make you more thirstier as well.

For the Stamina Don, it's a bowl of Pan-Fried Pork Slices in Special Sauce on Rice. There's only 1 standard portion of this rice set and there's no big nor small. The standard portion looks pretty big and good as well and the presentation of this dish looks tempting too. Again, the Pork Slices is pretty salty but when you eat together with the rice, it becomes tasty and delicious because the rice is well prepared like the sushi rice. The rice fragrance was amazing and it matches the Pork Slices that is salty and this makes the whole rice set look pretty nice and delicious. Recommended to try out this dish!

Unbelievable! That's what I want to say because the rice set is better than the Ramen as this shop is specialize for Ramen. The price is quite expensive especially the Ramen where Kimmy have to pay RM16.90 for a small set of Ramen which we think it's not worth the price and it's very small portion. But the rice set is acceptable in terms of the portion based on the price. We have to pay RM47.10 including 16% tax and for me it's very expensive.
