Food Hunt: Restoran Sea Front 88 (Stall No.4), Portuguese Settlement, Malacca

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. Today ME & Kimmy were at Malacca craving for food and finally we reached dinner time and not to be missed is our journey to Portuguese Settlement located at the hearts of Malacca town. We reached the Portuguese Settlement at about 7.00pm and it was pretty crowded. Once we enter the parking zone, a charge of RM1 for the parking fees and it's very reasonable indeed. Out of a sudden when you stepped out from your car, a bunch of people came towards you asking you to eat at their stalls as they try to promote their stalls. Don't be surprise about that. Then we walk towards the isle where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Straits Of Malacca and take some photos there as well. There's also a mini jetty where you can walk towards the jetty and then take some photos and take a closer look at the sea.

Then we head towards the Stall No.4 at the Food Court and here we found the Restaurant Sea Front 88. This is recommended by a few bloggers and my colleagues. We sat down and immediately we were served. It was not crowded at that time around 7.15pm and the crowd starts to pick up after 8.00pm and full. Of course their customer service is their top priority as there are so many stalls there and they are afraid you run off to other stalls. We were shown the menu and then this is what we've ordered:

1.) Portuguese Baked Stingray Fish (RM25.00)
2.) Belacan Spinach (RM8.00)
3.) Squid Fritters (RM12.00)
4.) Rice (RM2.00)
5.) Watermelon Juice (RM3.00) ; Carrot Milk Juice (RM3.00) ; Mango Juice (RM3.00) (Fresh)

We waited for about 10 minutes and the food were served. A plate of rice (servings for two persons) arrived together with the Belacan Spinach. The Belacan Spinach is just average and nothing so special about it. It's a little salty with some spicy taste. Next the Squid Fritters arrive. The Squid Fritters is a must try as it's crunchy and the squids are fresh too. Finally came the Portuguese Baked Stingray Fish where it took about 25 minutes for it to arrive probably it takes time to cook this fish. The taste is nice and it's a bit salty and most importantly it's spicy and nice to eat. We like the taste too.

Fresh Mango Juice (RM3.00)
Fresh Watermelon & Carrot Milk Juice (RM3.00 each)
The fresh Watermelon and Carrot Juice are simply awesome and nice. It's really fresh and tasty too and blended into perfection. Also not forgetting the Mango Juice which I think is one of the best drinks can be found here. The Fresh Mango Juice contains the fresh mango and added with a sour plum inside it and it's very refreshing. One of the BEST Mango Juice I've ever had before.

Portuguese Baked Stingray Fish (RM25.00)
Belacan Spinach (RM8.00)
Squid Fritters (RM12.00)
The price is very reasonable too. The portion for each dish is pretty big and definitely enough for 2 persons like us. The bill came and we pay RM56.00 and we get to taste 2 plates of seafood and it's definitely value for money. The food served are mostly salty and spicy and if you can accept these 2 taste, then the dishes would be definitely suitable for you to eat. We try this Stall 4 as recommended but upon my observation, each stall (total 10 stalls) has its own customers and it's equally the same customers they have. It's hard to tell which stall is the best but I think overall the food is good over there. I would strongly recommend you to come over to this place and besides enjoying the sea view, you can also enjoy great seafood too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

* Food Rating are based on the food & drinks we've ordered and not overall food & drinks.
