Food Hunt: Restaurant Leong Kee (良记) & Ming, Tanjung Malim, Perak

Hello All,

We are here. Yes. 3 of us are here and I would like to thank my friend Sai Kit & Chloe for brining me to this place to try out their food. It's also my first journey here to Tanjung Malim and apparently I drove about 1 hour here from Petaling Jaya to here. It was a great journey as I am here to crave for new place for food. And this restaurant is called Restaurant Leong Kee (良记) & Ming. This restaurant is situated nearby the Tanjung Malim Plus toll. After the toll, just drive to the left and then about 1KM you will reach the restaurant. What makes you even more easier to find the restaurant is usually during weekends the cars are fully park on the side of the road and that's the restaurant located. The restaurant only operates at night.

What so special about this restaurant? Actually it's a old name and of course it's famous for its mee which uses the charcoal to cook. These are old traditional method and it's more tastier than you expect. OK. This is what we ordered.

1.) Fried Kuey Teow (RM8.00)
2.) Pepper Soup with Vermicelli (RM8.00)
3.) Hokkien Mee (RM8.00)
4.) Fried Cabbage (RM8.00)
5.) 100 Plus + Drinho Chrysanthemum Drink (RM5.00)

We have to wait about 20 minutes for the food to arrive as it's super packed at the restaurant. We have to sit outside the restaurant. Luckily the weather is good and no rain on that day. The first dish which came to us is the Fried Kuey Teow. It's one of the best dishes that you should order here. There's something special about it is that there's a egg yolk on top the of the mee and you have to stir it to mix it with the Kuey Teow. Yummy! A must ordered when you are here. Next another signature dish which is the pepper soup with vermicelli. The soup is not very spicy and hot but still it's best to eat too. You can either order the soup alone or with the vermicelli. Yummy too! Next is the Hokkien Mee. This restaurant also serves the best Hokkien Mee in Tanjung Malim and you should order it too. The Fried Cabbage meanwhile is also a must try at this restaurant as it's very nice. It's fresh and there's some spicy taste too. It uses the 'chilli padi' to fried with the cabbage and it's very nice. Also not forgetting the home mad chilli paste which I would say is best and suitable to eat together with fried mee. I would not comment on the drinks we've ordered as it's canned and packet drinks.

Fried Kuey Teow (RM8.00)
Pepper Soup with Vermicelli (RM8.00)
Hokkien Mee (RM 8.00)
Home Made Chilli Paste
The price we pay overall would be around RM37.00 and we ordered so many different types of mee as well as a plate of vegetables. I would say it's value for money and the portion is really above average and suitable for 3 of us to eat although we just ordered single portion. We even could not finish the Hokkien Mee as well as others we ate them all. If you feel to drop by Tanjung Malim or feeling hungry while you are driving along the highway during dinner time, do come over here to try out one of the best fried mee stall here located at Tanjung Malim.
