Food Hunt: Yummy Taiwan (臺一下), Kepong, Kuala Lumpur

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. Today Kimmy had suggested a newly opened food place in Kepong. Introducing Yummy Taiwan (臺一下) Restaurant located in the middle of Kepong City Center just opposite AEON Kepong. We reached the restaurant around 7.45pm on Saturday and there's pretty less crowd in the restaurant, particularly because it's still new and not really famous yet. I've tried this restaurant before in Kota Kemuning and also had been featured on our blog before and the taste is similar and same. Today we've ordered the following:

1.) Beef Noodle (RM 11.90)
2.) Oyster Mee Sua (RM 6.90)
3.) Hot Crispy Chicken (RM 6.90)
4.) Lychee Honey Black Tea (RM4.50) X 2 Cup

It was fast as there's not much people in the restaurant and they only hire 1 waitress and then the boos himself also part of the waiter as well. We waited for about 5 minutes and then the food stars arriving. The drinks came first which is the Lychee Honey Black Tea. This is one of the best and cooling drinks that I've ever drink before and it's very special. It has a refreshing and cooling taste and the drinks itself contains rich in lychee, honey and black tea all in one. It's one of the most recommended drinks that you should order here. That's why Kimmy and I both ordered the same drinks.

Hot Crispy Chicken (RM6.90)

Then the Hot Crispy Chicken arrives. It has a mild in spicy taste as well as less salt and sugar. If you eat it, the chicken is fresh and then they fried on the spot and that makes the chicken more crunchier and tastier. Although I must admit that Shihlin Snacks Hot Crispy Chicken is more better than this one but I think this is already very good as well. Then it comes the Beef Noodle. This is also one of the best dishes when you are here and you must try out their beef noodle. The noodle is nice and apart from that most importantly is the soup itself. The soup is very nice and it tastes like the Bak Kut Tea soup with a little spicy taste and it's perfectly blend. Finally the Oyster Mee Sua came and this meal is nice too and it's slightly different than the ones with Shihlin Snacks as this Oyster Mee Sua soup is more watery while Shihlin ones is a bit dry. Anyway, it's nice too.

All the portion is huge and big and it's worth the price you pay. I pay around RM34.70 and there's no government nor service charge being implemented here. The environment here is also great with great air conditioned system and it's cold and it's nice when you eat something hot and spicy. I would strongly recommend you to come over here to try out the food and it's a wise choice that they opened a branch here in Kepong as here most of the population is Chinese. Gadget Review: Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE

Welcome back to ye another edition of Gadget Review. Today we bring you an exclusive review on the brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE Version. This phone claimed to be one of the best Android devices around and some said it had eventually beaten the Apple Iphone5 in terms of hardware specification. Here we bring you the summary of the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE.

Outlook

The Samsung Galaxy S4 outlook is pretty good and it has a 5 inch screen with HD Super Amoled Screen. The screen is very big and huge and it's suitable for me as well. But the plastic build feel at the back of the phone that covers the phone does not sounds nice but at least you can change your battery very easily. The outlook of every Samsung phones are the same and there's no changes at all. I would rate this overall as satisfied. RATING: 4/5

Operating System

The Operating System that this phone uses is actually the latest Android Jelly Bean Version 4.2.2. It has a powerful interface with great features installed. It's almost the same as the previous Android Operating System but this OS gives is more stable that the old ones and it claimed to be faster as well. In Samsung, they have developed a very smooth touch screen on top of the operating system itself. Great job. RATING: 5/5 

Camera

This phone has a build in 13 Mega Pixels, 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus and LED flash. The best part is it has the Dual Shot, Simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization & HDR. For video is has a 1080p@30fps, dual-video recording as well. The pictures taken is very nice and great indeed especially in bright place but it acts slightly poorer in the darker area with or without flash. The video recording is great that can produce the 1080p quality. RATING: 4/5

Processor

Best! This is the word I want to say about the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE. It's equipped with chipset

Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 and the GPU would be Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300. It's one of the fastest so far on the market and no one can beat Samsung right now. You can feel the smoothness of the phone with no lagging. The sensitivity touch also improved tremendously and can compete with Apple devices. Simply Great! RATING: 5/5  SIM Card & Network Performance The Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE and non LTE both using the Micro Sim card and not the old conventional standard SIM Card size anymore. You can get it at all major telcos in Malaysia. Since I'm using Maxis, it's 4G coverage area is pretty limited but once I get covered, I can get speeds up to 10-30 Mbps which is 5 times faster than the normal HSDPA or HSDPA+ signal. I would say Maxis 4G is up to my expectations and work greatly with this phone. So far, only Maxis offers the 4G services to its customers with the 4G phone as well. The reason is the costs of upgrading the 4G towers are pretty expensive and then now less people using it too. MY RATING: 5/5 Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is my choice with lots of great features installed on the Operating System. The most notable features includes the Smart stay, Smart pause, Smart scroll & Air gestures. Smart Pause acts when you are watching a Youtube video and then once your eye move somewhere else, it will pause until your eye watch the video again and it resumes. Smart Scroll enables you to point at the segment you want to view and it pops out on the screen and lastly the Air Gestures allows you to scroll your photos without touching the screen. All you need to do is just to wave your hand and it will flip by itself. These are some great features that this phones has and it's very useful as well. I rated at Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE as one of the best Android smartphones in the market and if you are planning to get one, please do not hesitate to get one for yourself and enjoy the phone. Synopsis

SAMUEL TONG (Francis Ng) stays in the UK to spend a long vacation following his wife’s death. After encountering HOLIDAY HO (Fala Chen), a wanderer who just got dumped, he ends his vacation early and returns to Hong Kong, joining Skylette Airline as a pilot to fly again.

Food Hunt: Bear Paw (熊手包), Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. Today ME & my colleague had lunch and my colleague was eagerly trying to introduce this restaurant located at Kota Kemuning. Introducing the Bear Paw (熊手包) restaurant, a newly opened Taiwanese food restaurant in Kota Kemuning. We stepped into the restaurant at around 1.00pm during lunch time and there's less crowd at the restaurant with many order take-away meals. We look at the menu displayed in front of the counter and we've ordered the following SET MEALS:

1.) SET 1 - Bear Paw with Milk Paw (Bread), Fish and Chilli Sauce + Jasmine Green Tea (Drinks) (RM11.90) 

2.) SET 1 - Bear Paw with Whole Meat Paw (Bread), Fish & Chilli Sauce + Four Seasons Spring Tea (Drinks) (RM11.90)

There are 6 sets for you to choose from and it depends on which you choose. Chicken is very fast selling as we went there and the chicken meat is finished and left Fish only. How to order? This is a franchise restaurant just like Chatime operates in a same manner. You order from the counter and then you will be provided with a number and you proceed to sit down and wait for your number to be displayed on the LED screen. Then you go to the collection counter and collect your meal. Done! OK! It's pretty fast though and we only waited for about 5 minutes. Now here's the deal. The Bear Paw decorations is nice and very tempting to eat as well especially the paw itself with a paw footprint displayed in front of the bun. When I open up the paw, it was rather disappointing with a couple slices of tomatoes, cabbage and the fish as well. The portion is relatively small and it's not so filling. If you are a big eater this is just not suitable for you and it's very expensive.

 

The taste of the paw (bun) is nice with milk or whole meat and you can taste the flavour from the buns itself. The fish was then fried and the taste is good too. Overall the bun and the fish itself is very soft and it's melting on your mouth. Personally I like the taste but the portion is too small and not filling additionally the price is pretty expensive too. The drinks meanwhile is just normal and nothing's special. The portion of the drinks is huge but there's very little inside as they put lots of Ice inside the cup and it's rather stingy too.Then there's no French Fries on the set meal and you have to order separately. Overall, it was nice but there's too many negative points for this meal though but at least the meal is still satisfying. 

For the price we pay (RM23.80) without any additional tax, I think it's a bit expensive to pay for this meal but if you want to give it a try go ahead as this is very special and it's nice too. Do prepared not to think about the portion and just go and try it. It's suitable for tea time break instead of lunch break. I would still recommend you to go and try it out despite the price and portion. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; MY COLLEAGUE RATING: 4/5

Food Hunt: Kluang Station, Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today we bring you over to Tropicana City Mall to try out the newly opened Kluang Station Restaurant. Today ME & Kimmy had apparently went there for shopping and in the same time to dine there as well for dinner.

We reached the restaurant at around 8.20pm and the crowd seems to be pretty less particularly after Buka Puasa. During normal times, this restaurant is quite packed especially during lunch and dinner hours. Once we sat down, we were then shown the menu. There are a lot of choices to choose from particularly from Western to our Local Delights. This is what we've ordered:

1.) Lychee Selasih Ice (RM6.90)
2.) Sirap Limau Ais (RM3.10)
3.) Fried Rice with Chicken Wings (RM8.90)
4.) Nasi Lemak Ayam Merah (RM9.90)

The waiting time is pretty less on that day particularly less people and we only waited for about 5 minutes and the food started to arrive. The drinks came first and then followed by the food shortly after. The Lychee Selasih Ice is pretty normal taste which taste more or like a Lychee taste and you can too enjoy some mini sago as well. The taste just so-so. Meanwhile the Sirap Limau Ais is a must try as it's nice. Also there's some mini sago for you to enjoy. The Fried Rice with Chicken Wings is just nice as the fried rice is normal but the chicken wings is very nice indeed. You should try out their chicken wings as it's crunch and tasty. At last is the Nasi Lemak Ayam Merah where the taste of the Ayam Merah and the rice is just so-so and average.

The price we pay is around RM33.40 plus Government and Service Tax. I would say it's not so worth it as the food is just average and nothing special to shout about. I would not recommend you to try some of the food which I say so-so or average but you can come for the chicken wings as it's very nice. If you are not a big fan of chicken wings then probably you can just skip this restaurant or you can give it a try on other food as well and it might satisfy your taste buds. Enjoy! My Comments: Welcome back to yet another movie review session and today ME & Kimmy had visited Tropicana City Mall to shopping as well as to watch movie. This time around we have chosen Pacific Rim as our choice of the movie. This movie talks about robots which our humans developed robots to fight the monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju. It's a fierce combat between the them and almost each and every minute, there's tense and non stop action is very well documented as well. It really convince me to watch this movie and it's better than Transformers in my opinion. The storyline is very good and I am shocked to see such great productions and could not believe it. Many of the soldiers dead in this movie in order to save the world and some even sacrifice themselves to save the world. A touching and sentimental as well as suspense awaits you in this movie and you'll simply enjoy it. Directed by Guillermo del Toro and then supported by actor Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi and many more, this movie is set to be another big contender of Transformers where humans control the robot by calibrating their brains to synchronize with the movement of the robots. This is our weekly food stall where we go out and have our dinner almost every Monday and then the best can be found at this restaurant is definitely the Chinese Big Chef over here (open afternoon till night). Everytime we are here, we always order the single portion Chinese dishes. Among the best (single portion) including Fried Rice (RM5.50), Ostrich Meat Rice (RM6.50) and Yee Mee Noodles (RM5.50). Also do ask for Sambal as their Sambal is one of the best in Petaling Jaya. Trust me! The price is pretty reasonable and the above food mentioned is a must try. Also served at this restaurant including Bak Kut Tea which I would say very good can be found in Petaling Jaya (only open at night). This 2 stalls are among the best at the restaurant. So my recommendation to you is go and try it out. MY RATING: 5/5

This is our favourite restaurant in Petaling Jaya. We offen go here every Tuesday and have a great time there trying out the food. Among the best food that can be found here including the famous Nasi Lemak (Sotong, Ayam, Daging), Spaghetti, Various Fried Rice and most importantly the portion is pretty huge and filling as well. The taste is very good. The Nasi Lemak ranged between RM5 - 10, Spaghetti between RM7 - RM20 while the Fried Rice price ranging from RM5 - RM15 depends on what you order. Normally I will order the Nasi Lemak Sotong (RM6.00) and Spaghetti Carbonara (RM10.00) while for drinks I love their Assam Boi Limau (RM1.80) which is recommended to order as well. Murni Discovery serves from Western, Chinese to Malay Food and lots of varieties too. The price is reasonable accordance to its portion. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5

We visited In-House Health Cuisine again as we have visited it a month ago. Today we are there to eat again and to try out other food stuffs and drinks. Except Kimmy who ordered the same dishes which is the Sauna Stone Bowl Fish Noodles (RM12.90) which will be her all time favourite now, I ordered the Cantonese Seafood Noodles (RM13.90) and for drinks I've ordered the Ice Peach Tea (RM4.90) while Kimmy ordered the Ice Lemon Tea (RM4.90).

This time despite the large crowd during lunch break around 1.00pm, the food still came pretty fast with very efficient serving time. Love the service over there. Simply perfect! The Sauna Stone Bowl Fish Noodles remained to be very nice especially the soup which is perfect and lovely. If you love chilli, do try out the chilli as it's very hot and spicy too that comes together with the garlic. The Cantonese Seafood Noodles meanwhile is also must try as it's nice especially the seafood which is very fresh and tasty. The noodle meanwhile is brown in colour and it's thin and it looks like the Wantan Mee but it's slightly thinner. It's very nice especially the gravy of the noodle which I could not express and I give a word GREAT! The portion is pretty huge and it's worth of the price we pay.

For drinks, The Ice Peach Tea is a must try at the restaurant as well. It's rich in Peach taste and fresh too. The Ice Lemon Tea meanwhile is a bit sour and bitter in taste too. So in conclusion, do order the Ice Peach Tea instead of the Ice Lemon Tea with the same price. The price is pretty reasonable as well and we pay around RM38.00 with 6% Service Charge only without the Government Tax. We are at Sunway Pyramid for some shopping and then after that we are looking for something to eat for dinner. Then we have visited Kenny Rogers located at Lower Level 2 Sunway Pyramid. We reached the restaurant at around 8.20pm, and the restaurant is less people as it's after Buka Puasa. During 7.00pm - 8.15pm, the restaurant is very packed after the Muslim's Buka Puasa for a satisfying meal. We sat down and then ordered 2 sets of Kenny's 1/4 Meal (RM18.50 each). I've ordered the BBQ Chicken with Golden Corn & Carrot, Baked Beans and Potato Salad as my side dishes while Kimmy ordered also the BBQ Chicken with Mashed Potato, Fruits Salad and Golden Corn and Carrot. Each meal comes with a free muffin as well and I've chosen the chocolate muffin while Kimmy chosen the Vanilla Muffin. For drinks, I've ordered Bottomless 100-Plus (RM5.90) while Kimmy ordered a glass of Ice Water (Free).

The wait till is pretty long despite pretty less people in the restaurant and this is also due to the staff who wanted to Buka Puasa after that and that slows down the operation. After we waited for about 20 minutes, finally our food arrives. The set ordered by me (BBQ Chicken with Golden Corn & Carrot, Baked Beans and Potato Salad) is nice and the portion is huge as well. The same goes to Kimmy's as well. For the muffin, both of us prefer the chocolate ones than the vanilla. The 100-Plus is tasteless as I can only taste the soda water. Bad! Overall, the price had raised from previous RM16++ to now RM18++ but luckily the portion is still big and satisfying as well. We pay around RM49.00 which includes 10% Service & 6% Government Tax and the price we pay is just reasonable. We do not complaint about the food but the drinks pretty sucks and needs improvement. Gadget Review: Portawifi Device

Welcome back to yet another edition of Gadget review and today we would like to introduce to you the brand new Portawifi device. What is Portawifi? Porta + Wifi = Portable Wifi is something to do with Wifi on the go. Whether you're on your car, home or everywhere, you can get connected with internet. How it works? Here we explain to you.

 Portawifi device is a device that I am currently using now where I can get WIFI access at home, outside or at the car itself. The size of the modem is similar like the USB Modem but then it's slightly heavier and then bulkier. The additional advantage of this modem is actually it also acts as WIFI and can support up to 5 devices on the go at one time. You can now plug the USB modem into your laptop for your personal usage and in the same time it can share the connection as well. If you're in the car, just plug the USB modem into the cigarette socket and then it powers on by itself and get connected within seconds. Last but not least, if you are at home, you can also WIFI your home by plugging into the power socket and it works like a charm. Please be informed that this PortaWIFI modem only can detect within a 10 meter range only. If you're above10 meters from the product, then you will experience lost connection.

Besides that, you can also plug the USB Modem into a power bank and bring wherever you go and in the same time you can go online anywhere and anytime too. Look how technology changes things and this USB modem is not heavy though and can be brought anywhere for convenience as well. You can sign up with Celcom or Maxis as both of these providers provide the Portawifi Modem (connection up to 21Mbps) with contracts. Alternatively, you can log on to Lelong Website (http://www.lelong.com.my) to look up for some unlocked portawifi device where you buy the device separately and then good thing is that you can use whatever service provider you want. The price is between RM150 - RM170. I think the price is acceptable based on the technology it provides and most importantly it can connect anywhere too with just a tiny device. In my case, I've bought the unlocked portawifi from Lelong and assigned U Mobile into it and it works like a charm too. This applies if you do not want to tie to any contract and free to change provider anytime you want.
