The memorial service in Jelutong on Monday, however, was highly emotional for William's paternal grandmother who wept openly asking for the opportunity to embrace the boy for a last time.
Chee Chau Moy, 68, wailed openly and called out William's name. She had arrived when the funeral undertaker was already making arrangements for the coffin to be placed in the incinerator.
"I want to see William, Oh please let me see him, I want to hug him, Ah Poh (grandma) is here," she cried as relatives calmed her down.
Among those who joined William's parents Yau Kok Kang and Goh Ying Ying to pay their last respects was Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.
Mohd Ali announced a RM5,000 assistance to the family as funeral expenses.
Earlier at 10.20am, the parents claimed the body at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.
They had also conducted prayers for William at the spot in Sungai Sireh in Port Klang where his body was found. Source: The Star Malaysia 28/1/2013
