Food Hunt: Otak-Otak Place, Tropicana City Mall (Part 2)

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of the food hunt and today ME & Kimmy were at Tropicana City Mall for some windows shopping perhaps and watching movie. Then for dinner time, we had chosen Otak-Otak Place again as our destination as it was way more better than 1 Utama Branch. Once we sat down, we were served immediately and the crowded was pretty less as we reach there around 7.00pm.

After taking a look at the menu for about 5 minutes, we've finally decided what to order and I've ordered Nasi Lemak Ayam Percik (RM9.90) with a glass of Blackcurrent Longan (RM4.00) while Kimmy ordered Mushroom Chicken Chop (RM13.90) with a glass of Honey Lemon Cold (RM4.20). We've also ordered Steam Otak-Otak Fish (RM3.00) as our side dishes as well. Let's go straight to the food comments. The Nasi Lemak Ayam Percik meanwhile was great and nice to eat. The taste was great and good. I simply love the taste especially the fragrance of the rice and the sambal itself was nice. The chicken percik was nice too with its own sambal. The Blackcurrent Longan meanwhile was a hit and nice. It was nice and great to drink as well.

Kimmy's western food Mushroom Chicken Chop meanwhile was just so-so and not so nice. Well, it's proven because Otak-Otak place only serves best Malaysian Food and not Western Food. Well, do expect some drop in performance on their western food. The Honey Lemon Cold meanwhile was great and nice too. It's refreshing and the taste was just nice without too sweet nor too sour. Kimmy said she recommend you to order the Honey Lemon Cold but not the Western Food she'd ordered. For the side dishes, the Steam Otak-Otak Fish was nice too. It was just 1 piece that served in a platter and it was nice to me but Kimmy said the smoked otak-otak is more nicer. I love the taste of the Steam Otak-Otak Fish.

Overall, the price was just reasonable and standard as those Kopitiam out there like Old Town or Papparich. The total bill came and it's about RM36.75 including 5% service charge. I would recommend you to come over this restaurant rather than the 1 Utama branch as the food here served one of the best in town. Check it out! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

My Comments: Today is a beloved Sunday as ME & Kimmy had decided to go Tropicana City Mall for a simply window shopping as there's quite some time we did not visit there already. So we've decided to catch a comedy romance movie called Men Suddenly In Love starring several popular Hong Kong stars. With the famous comedian such as Eric Tsang, Chapman To and Wong Jing, this movie set to be one of the funniest movie ever this year. And I have to admit it because it contains a lot of funny scenes but not overall movie. Also this movie is classified at 18SX as it contains sex scenes that are not too nasty. Overall in this movie, you will see a lot of sexy scenes that will led into several sex scenes as well but not too extreme. This is also the first time where I saw this type of movies in cinemas. Overall, the storyline is very well done and it does have a moral story in this movie where you should not carouse and leave your wife alone in the house. Once again, it's a fun yet entertaining movie and you should not miss it but only limited to 18 years and above unless you bought the DVD to watch. I would recommend you to watch this movie as it still shows in cinema on press time. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

My Comments: Good morning folks and hope you have a great day. Today I have a lot of free time and so I've decided to bring my car for a polish & wax and in the same time while waiting for it to be done, I've decided to go to 1 Utama for a walk. Then I went up to the GSC cinema and then decided to watch a movie to make my time past faster and easier. So I have chosen this comedy Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son as my movie of my choice today. It was a fun yet entertaining movie as you will simply love it. Besides, the storyline was very well matched and it was a perfect movie to catch throughout the 107 minutes of laughter. This story was talking about a FBI who have to go undercover by becoming a lady and in the same time to investigate a case at the girls school. As these 2 fellas Martin Lawrence and Brandon T. Jackson did a superb job by giving us super laugh where their casts in this movie was real funny. It was a perfect start in the morning after watching this movie. I would recommend you to watch this movie as you may watch it with your friends, your love ones and your families as it's suitable for all ages as well unless you're under 13 years of age with parents supervision because it talks a little bit about sex and there's some sex scenes in this movie as well but it's not harmful. So, for those who love comedies, this movie is the best choice for you while it's still showing in cinemas and do not miss the show! Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: Tenji 2 Japanese Buffet, Puchong

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where I am going to bring you guys to Japanese Buffet at Puchong. It was indeed right where Tenji 2 is our destination as it finally opens at Puchong Bandar Puteri. Today, me & my colleagues of Hauni Malaysia came and enjoy the food thanks to our beloved birthday boy Ho Wing Onn, who treated us to this wonderful dinner. Thanks Brother Ho Wing Onn. We have 6 of us attending including our birthday boy and others would be Gina, Kee, Alex Chew, Wei Wen & ME.

The variety of food there was pretty moderate to choose from and the food quality was indeed better than Tenji 1 at Solaris Mont Kiara. The Sushi and Sashimi was pretty fresh and there are quite a lot of varieties to choose from but still lose to Jogoya in terms of varieties and the taste. The udon and tempura meanwhile was just moderate and not so good. The best thing is you can eventually order ala-carte dishes up to 4 dishes per order and you can repeat order (based on the menu book) once the 4 dishes had arrived. We tried several dishes including fish, shark fin, chicken etc. and find out that overall the food was also just moderate to good.

If you are a steamboat fans, Tenji 2 also offers a steamboat pot for your choice as well. All you need to do is just to choose the ingredients and then they will serve you the soup. Nice isn't it? Tenji 2 also offers the Chinese special cuisine called 'Dim Sum' and it found out to be sucks. It was not nice after all. The best comes from the dessert part where they serve Haagen Dazs Ice Cream. It was so nice and lovely and eventually I had taken 3 small cups of it ranging from Almond, Green Tea and Chocolate flavour. You can also put some colored chocolate flakes to make the ice cream tastes even better. Also, you can try out the chocolate fondue where you can eat it with biscuits as well.

Overall, the food is still moderate to good and it's much more better than in Tenji Solaris Mont Kiara. I would recommend you to come over here as the food is more nicer and the ambiance here are pretty good and quiet as well. The price meanwhile is about RM68.00 per person for dinner time. It's pretty reasonable for the food you get and it's average where it's cheaper than Jogoya but expensive than Tao. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5

World News: Third explosion rocks nuclear plant, radiation level high

* Japan spokesman says radiation from nuclear plant high enough in nearby areas to damage health

* Japan PM tells people within 30km of troubled nuclear power plant to stay indoors

* A spokesman says fourth reactor at damaged nuclear plant on fire, more radiation released

* Quake magnitude upgraded to 9.0, fourth largest since 1900

SOMA (Japan): Radiation spewed from a crippled nuclear power plant in tsunami-ravaged northeastern Japan after a third explosion early Tuesday, in a dramatic escalation of the four-day-old catastrophe, forcing the government to tell people nearby to stay indoors to avoid exposure.

In a nationally televised statement, Prime Minister Naoto Kan said radiation has spread from four reactors of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant in Fukushima province that was one of the hardest-hit in Friday's 9.0-magnitude earthquake and the ensuing tsunami.

"The level seems very high, and there is still a very high risk of more radiation coming out," Kan said.

This satellite image provided by DigitalGlobe shows the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear facility in Japan on Monday, March 14, 2011. Authorities are strugging to prevent the catastrophic release of radiation in the area devastated by a tsunami. - APpix

This is the worst nuclear crisis Japan has faced since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.

Kan warned there are dangers of more leaks and told people living within 30km of the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex to stay indoors to avoid radiation sickness.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said a fourth reactor at the complex was on fire and more radiation had been released.

He said the reactor, even though it was unoperational, was believed to be the source of the elevated radiation release because of the hydrogen release that triggered the fire.

"Now we are talking about levels that can damage human health. These are readings taken near the area where we believe the releases are happening. Far away, the levels should be lower," he said.

"Please do not go outside. Please stay indoors. Please close windows and make your homes airtight. Don't turn on ventilators. Please hang on your laundry indoors," he said.

"These are figures that potentially affect health, there is no mistake about that," he said.

He said a reactor whose containment building caught fire Monday has not contributed greatly to the increased radiation. The radiation level around one of the reactors stood at 400,000 microsiverts per hour, four times higher than the safe level.

Officials said 50 workers were still there trying to put water into the reactors to cool them. They say 800 other nonessential staff were evacuated.

The death toll from last week's earthquake and tsunami jumped Tuesday as police confirmed the number killed had topped 2,400, although that grim news was overshadowed by a deepening nuclear crisis.

Officials have said previously that at least 10,000 people may have died in Miyagi province alone.

The latest blast happened at 6.10m Tuesday in the plant's Unit 2 near a suppression pool, which removes heat under a reactor vessel.

Meanwhile, The US Geological Survey has upgraded the magnitude of Friday's deadly earthquake in Japan to 9.0

The move came after Japan's Meteorological Agency did the same. It's not unusual for scientists to tweak the magnitude of a giant quake after some number-crunching.

US government scientists originally put the Japan quake at 8.9. The change to 9.0 means that the quake was about 1.5 times stronger than initially thought.

The Japan quake is now the fourth largest in the world since 1900 behind the 2004 magnitude 9.1 Sumatra quake. - AP

Japan earthquake: Meltdown alert at Fukushima reactor

Tokyo: Physics professor says another Chernobyl is highly unlikely. Technicians are battling to stabilise a third reactor at a quake-stricken Japanese nuclear plant, after the latest explosion rocked the facility.

Fukushima Daiichi plant's operators said they could not rule out a fuel rod meltdown, after a cooling system broke. They are frantically injecting more water into reactor 2 after its fuel rods became almost fully exposed. A cooling system breakdown preceded explosions at the plant's reactor 3 on Monday and reactor 1 on Saturday.

The latest explosion, said to have been caused by a hydrogen build-up, injured 11 people, one of them seriously, and sent a huge column of smoke billowing into the air. The operators are playing down any health risk and say the thick containment walls shielding the reactor cores have so far remained intact.

But the US said it had moved one of its aircraft carriers from the area after detecting low-level radiation 160km (100 miles) offshore.

The fuel rod exposure at Fukushima Daiichi number 2 reactor is potentially the most serious event so far at the plant. A local government official confirmed the fuel rods were at one point largely, if not totally exposed; but we do not know for how long. Without coolant around the rods, temperatures can rise to hundreds of degrees Celsius, almost certainly resulting in some melting.

This opens the possibility of a serious meltdown - where molten, highly radioactive reactor core falls through the floor of the containment vessel and into the ground underneath. However, engineers appear to have restored some water flow into the reactor vessel and if they are successful, temperatures will begin to fall again rapidly. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from a 20-km exclusion zone around the Fukushima Daiichi plant.

Experts say a disaster on the scale of Chernobyl in the 1980s is highly unlikely because the reactors are built to a much higher standard and have much more rigorous safety measures.

In other developments:

  • Two thousand bodies have been found on the shores of Miyagi prefecture, Japanese media are reporting
  • The government said it would pump 15 trillion yen ($182bn; £113bn) into the economy to prop up markets, but the Nikkei slumped more than 6%
  • Prime Minister Naoto Kan postponed planned rolling powercuts, saying they may not be needed if householders could conserve energy

Food Hunt: Wendy's Berjaya Times Square

Hello All,

Welcome back to yet another great weekend as ME & Kimmy are at Berjaya Times Square to watch movie and of course do some shopping. During dinner time, we had chosen Wendy's Berjaya Times Square as our destination and since we never try before, ME & Kimmy eagerly wanted to try out the food over there. It's a fast food outlet and the mostly it served burgers just like Mcdonalds.

Once we reach the counter, we browse through their menu and I've ordered Double Cheeseburger Set while Kimmy ordered Spicy Chicken Temptation Set as well. The set contains a burger, a drink and a french fries. The double cheeseburger are big in size and it was great to eat too. The taste was just same as Carl Junior burger and consider good as well. The fries meanwhile was nice and juicy as well. It was better than Mcdonalds Fries and has the same taste and level with Carl Junior. For Kimmy's Spicy Chicken Temptation, it was rather disappointing as well. It was not spicy enough and not juicy though. This makes the burger not favourable and not so nice.

The price meanwhile was pretty average as well. The Double Cheeseburger Set costs about RM15.45 while the Spicy Chicken Temptation costs about RM11.65. The overall price would be RM29.00 plus the service and government tax as well. I would still recommend you to come over and try the burger and the food over here as it was acceptable as well. The portion is pretty big and reasonable as well. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

_____________________________________________________

My Comments: Lately this battle movie between humans and aliens had been a hit in cinemas as well as those disaster movie which had been a hit whereby the world now is really in a mess with different types of disaster such as the very recent Japan Earthquake. Without any hesitation, ME & Kimmy had predicted is there the end of the world already? Well, we hope not. When we watch this movie, we dropped out tears as it reminds us about how to defend ourselves until the death. It was an awesome movie except it was pretty bored in the first 25 minutes and it started to pick up from there. World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles is one of the must watched movie this year as it was a real hit especially among those who love action movies. It talks about a Human VS Alien story and how humans manage to fight them and win the battle. The story was in times very sad and tears started to flow down and in the same time, it was filled with battle sound with ping ping pang pang here and there. The storyline was pretty easy to understand and nothing special about it as well. In fact, it was a bit noisy with the battle sound and sometimes it may make you tension as well. Overall, it's a great movie to watch and you should not miss the action. MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 4/5

World News: Widespread destruction from Japan earthquake, tsunamis

Tokyo (CNN) -- The morning after Japan was struck by the most powerful earthquake to hit the island nation in recorded history and the tsunami it unleashed -- and even as the earth continued to twitch with aftershocks -- the disaster's massive impact was only beginning to be revealed.

Rescue efforts began with the first light as military helicopters plucked survivors from roofs and carried them to safety.

The 8.9-magnitude temblor, which was centered near the east coast of Japan, killed hundreds of people, caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan's east coast.

"The earth shook with such ferocity," said Andy Clark, who said he had gotten used to earthquakes during his 20 years in Japan but never experienced what he felt Friday at the airport outside Tokyo. "I thought things were coming to an end ... it was simply terrifying."

Buildings shook, heaved and collapsed by the score, and numerous fires ignited.

Hundreds more people were missing, Japanese media reported, citing local and national police. Tens of thousands of people were displaced, according to Japan's Kyodo News Agency.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan said the "enormously powerful" earthquake had caused "tremendous damage over a wide area."

The quake, which struck at 2:46 p.m. (12:46 a.m. ET), prompted the U.S. National Weather Service to issue tsunami warnings for at least 50 countries and territories.

The epicenter of Friday's main quake was located off Miyagi Prefecture, about 230 miles (370 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Also in Miyagi, officials reported that a train had derailed and authorities had lost contact with four trains in coastal areas, Kyodo reported, citing the East Japan Railway Company.

Six million households, more than 10% of the total in Japan, were without electricity, said Japan's ambassador to the United States, Ichiro Fujisaki.

In Tokyo, rail service was suspended overnight, elevated highways were shut early Saturday and surface streets remained jammed as commuters -- thousands of whom had spent the night in shelters -- tried to get to their homes in outlying areas.

Video aired by Japanese broadcaster NHK showed extensive fires in Miyagi and in the port city of Hakodate, in the southern part of Hokkaido island in northern Japan. An oil refinery was burning in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo, according to NHK. And Kyodo News said fires could be seen in extensive areas of Kesennuma in Miyagi.

Aerial views of Kesennuma showed plumes of white smoke emanating from the center of the city and large, black areas the flames had already traversed.

In the city of Minamisoma in Fukushima Prefecture, all that was left of many structures were their foundations. Only concrete and steel buildings appeared to have withstood the wash. No people were visible in the streets of the town, whose population on Friday had been 70,000.

And a dam in Fukushima Prefecture failed, washing away homes, Kyodo reported. There was no immediate word of casualties, but the Defense Ministry said 1,800 homes were destroyed.

The National Weather Service sent a warning to 50 countries and territories it said could be affected by the tsunami.

Scores of aftershocks jarred the country Saturday, punctuated by a pair of strong earthquakes in the early morning, including one with a magnitude of 7.1 and another with a magnitude of 6.8.

A leak occurred in an atomic power plant in northeast Japan, a spokesman for Japan's nuclear agency said Saturday. Cooling equipment stopped working when generators failed in the quake, and the temperature inside the plant in the Fukushima prefecture had risen; officials lowered the pressure inside the plant hangar by venting it, said spokesman Kazuo Kodama.

But high levels of radiation led officials to suspend the release, NHK said. Alternative plans were being evaluated, the broadcaster said.

Citing Japan's nuclear safety agency, Kyodo said radiation levels were 1,000 times above normal in the the control room of the facility's reactor.

An evacuation order was extended to people who live within 10 kilometers (6 miles) of the plant, named Fukushima Daiichi, about 160 miles (260 kilometers) north of Tokyo.

The agency said the radiation amount posed no immediate threat to the health of nearby residents, Kyodo reported.

Cooling problems also appeared to have affected to another of the Tokyo Electric Power Company's nuclear facilities.

Kyodo reported the power company alerted authorities that the cooling system at three units of another plant in the same prefecture. That prompted Japanese authorities to add that plant to its emergency list, along with the another plant, Kyodo said.

Prime Minister Kan inspected the plant and the rest of the affected region from a helicopter.

The government ordered the evacuation of residents nearest the plant as efforts to keep it cool after it was shut were initially hampered.

Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported Saturday that the death toll is more than 900, with about 700 others reported missing. Earlier Saturday the nation's Kyodo News News Agency, citing police, reported that the death toll was 433, with at least 784 missing.

The official death toll is likely to rise as authorities continue rescue and relief efforts in the worst-hit areas. Kyodo predicted the death toll would surpass 1,000.

The news agency, citing Japan's defense forces, also said 60,000 to 70,000 people were being evacuated to shelters in the Sendai area of Miyagi Prefecture.

The prime minister said an emergency task force had been activated, and he appealed for calm. The government dispatched 8,000 troops to assist in the recovery effort and asked for U.S. military assistance, according to Kyodo.

A spokesman for the U.S. military bases in Japan said all service members were accounted for and there were no reports of damage to installations or ships.

By early Saturday, more than 50 countries had offered help, said Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. U.S. President Barack Obama offered his condolences and said the United States was standing by to help "in this time of great trial."

The U.S. Navy initiated reconnaissance flights to map the disaster zone and was moving the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan into position to assist the Japanese government with relief efforts, defense officials said.

Images from Japanese media and CNN iReporters showed smoke pouring from buildings and water rushing across fields, carrying away entire structures.

"I wasn't scared when it started ... but it just kept going and going," said Michelle Roberts, who lives in central Tokyo. "I won't lie, it was quite scary. But we are all OK. We live on the third floor, so most everything shook and shifted."

The quake toppled cars off bridges and into waters underneath. Waves of debris flowed like lava across farmland, pushing boats, houses and trailers in their paths.

The quake also disrupted rail service and affected air travel. Hundreds of flights were canceled, Kyodo said. Some 13,000 people were stranded at the Narita airport, and 10,000 were stuck at the Haneda airport, the news agency said. Flights into and out of both airports had resumed Saturday.

At Tokyo Station, one of Japan's busiest subway terminals, shaken commuters grabbed one another to stay steady as the ground shook. Dazed residents poured into the streets, and offices and schools were closed. Children cried.

"This was larger than anyone expected and went on longer than anyone expected," said Matt Alt, who lives in Tokyo.

"My wife was the calm one. ... She told us to get down and put your back on something, and leave the windows and doors open in case a building shifts so you don't get trapped."

The magnitude of the earthquake and its shallow depth -- 15.2 miles (24.5 kilometers) -- created a lot of energy, said Shenza Chen of the U.S. Geological Survey.

The impact was felt far and wide. In McKinleyville, California, a wave swept three men into the Pacific Ocean as they were reportedly trying to take photos of the incoming tsunami waves, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Two of the men returned to shore, but one died, officials said.

Japanese government officials said large tsunami waves were still a risk to coastal Japan, and they urged residents in coastal areas to move to higher ground.

The tsunami brought waves of nearly 7 feet to a harbor in Maui, authorities said, but other areas reported lower levels.

On the U.S. mainland, wave heights from Alaska to California ranged from less than a foot to more than 8 feet. The highest measurement, 8.1 feet, was at Crescent City, California.

Tsunamis are a series of long ocean waves that can last five to 15 minutes and cause extensive flooding in coastal areas. Sometimes, the waves hit in succession -- often the highest not being the first, CNN meteorologist Ivan Cabrera said.

Humanitarian agencies were working with rescue crews to reach people affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

"When such an earthquake impacts a developed country like Japan, our concern also turns to countries like the Philippines and Indonesia, which might not have the same resources," said Rachel Wolff, a spokeswoman for World Vision.

Wolff said her agency is helping people in Japan and teaming up to help others in countries along the path of the tsunami.

The quake was the latest in a series around Japan this week.

On Wednesday, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Honshu, the country's meteorological agency said. Early Thursday, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck off the same coast.

Friday's quake is the strongest earthquake in recorded history to hit Japan, according to U.S. Geologic Survey records. The previous record was an 8.6-magnitude earthquake that struck near the Chubu Region near southwestern Honshu on October 28, 1707, that may have killed 5,000 people, CNN meteorologist Sean Morris said.

That quake generated a 33-foot (10-meter) tsunami wave, and some scientists believe the quake may have triggered the eruption of Mount Fuji 49 days later, Morris said.

The world's largest recorded quake took place in Chile on May 22, 1960, with a magnitude of 9.5, the USGS said. Source: CNN World News
