Travel: Melaka Day 1

Dear All,

Welcome back to a new edition of Travel and today ME & Kimmy will be bringing you over to Melaka for a holiday and in the same time discover some nice place of interest and food that was originally from Melaka. We started our journey at about 8.30am in the morning after having our breakfast. We then reached Ayer Keroh via the North South Expressway and then we visited Zoo Melaka as our first destination as at 10.45am. Overall, Zoo Melaka is not so impressive after all and there's less variety of animals can be found in that zoo. I found out that there are too many same species of animals on the same zoo. Entrance fees is RM7 per person for Adults and RM5 for Children. By judging by its price, I can see that we would expect the quality of the zoo as well. I would preferred Zoo Negara compared to Zoo Melaka after all. Not recommended to go for couples but still find quite educational for kids. ZOO RATING: 3/5

Then we proceed to have our lunch at around 1.30pm at the nearby Mcdonald's before checking in the Hotel after that. We stayed at one of the budget hotels in town and it's called the Hallmark Hotel located at Jalan Munshi Abdullah and it's located inside Melaka Town as well. We stayed at the Premier Executive Room and I've found out that it's spacious and the rooms are big and clean too as well the toilets are superbly clean as well. We love the hotel very much. Also we've find the quality of the food located at their own cafe is great especially during breakfast and we've also went to the cafe at night for supper. HOTEL RATING: 5/5

The we proceed to have our dinner at one of the most oldest and famous satay celup in town. We have visited Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup located at Jalan Ong Kim Wee. We reached the restaurant at around 6.45pm and the crowd had filled the restaurant and some even have to wait to be seated. Luckily we managed to look for a seat where we have to share table with other patrons. Their business had been great and good too. The Satay Celup is spicy and the satay sauce is nice too. We dipped the ingredients into the satay sauce located the the center of the table and the taste was nice too. It was really a mouth watering meal and we simply enjoy it! The ingredients was charged RM0.60 per stick and we have taken around 24 sticks. Basically I think the price is still reasonable if compared to the ones in Kuala Lumpur. SATAY CELUP RATING: 4/5

Then at night before we ended our Day 1 Trip, we went to one of the most famous attractions in Melaka Town at night which is the Jonker Walk or also known as Jonker Street. This street was filled with stalls at night and it's definitely a Malaysian Style Night Market. This night market sells a lot of local made stuffs ranging from its own Melaka Food and Melaka Souvenirs as well. You normally takes about 45 minutes to 1 Hour to walk from the start till the end of the night market and it was a real great atmosphere for all the tourist to Melaka. JONKER WALK RATING: 5/5

Leisure: Christmas Decorations at 1 Utama Shopping Centre 2011

Dear All,

I visited 1 Utama Shopping Centre and the main objective to go there today is to witness the Christmas Decorations that was displayed in front of the New Wing centre court. This year the 1 Utama Shopping Centre theme would be 'Splashing Over The Big Blue'.

This year theme is actually a Sea of Blue Christmas where the stage is filled with Shells and Cockerels and imagine you are underneath the sea and you could see the shells and cockerels. The decoration this year is slightly poorer than the last year's theme and I would prefer the theme last year around. The decorations is just normal and you don't feel that there will be any Christmas feel compared to other shopping malls.

Overall, the decorations are still acceptable and I would say it gives its patrons a sea feel looked themed and you will enjoy it too. Surrounding the centre court, there will be also stalls selling hot Christmas items and gifts to ensure you will have a memorable Christmas Shopping experience. Food Hunt: Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant, 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy had visited 1 Utama Shopping Centre for shopping and yes we did bought a lot of stuff as it's our year end shopping experience as well. ME & Kimmy bought a lot of things and the time flies so fast where it time now for dinner. The clock shows 7 o' clock in the evening as ME & Kimmy will have to think what to have for dinner. We think for about 10 minutes, browsing through what shall we have for dinner and finally we have come into a conclusion where we wanted to have Hong Kong Style food and without any hesitation, the new opening Kim Gary outlet at 1 Utama is our choice as we need to try out the food over there.

Once we reach the restaurant, the crowd had started to build up and the table is almost full but we still managed to find a place for us to sit as well. This restaurant is situated at Rainforest and it's just opposite Plus One Shabu Shabu at 1 Utama. It was a newly open restaurant and it's a new concept of Kim Gary Restaurant with a fresh and new outlook compared to their previous outlets that are currently operating now. We sat down and we were immediately served with the menu. Of course, it will take some time for us to browse through the menu as there are a lot of choices in their menu and they served ala-carte and set meals as well. After about 15 minutes, we finally decided what to eat for dinner. I've ordered an ala-carte set of Super Bowl Of Rice (RM10.90) while Kimmy ordered the Japan Stone Grilled Seafood Rice set meal (RM18.90) and it comes with a set of a soup and a drink as well. For soup, Kimmy ordered the 'Hong Kong 'Loh Sung' (cantonese reading) soup and for drinks, Kimmy ordered a hot Green Tea. For my drinks, I've ordered Ice Chinese Tea (RM1.30).

It does not take very long for the food to arrive as we need to wait for about 10 minutes despite the heavy crowd that throng the restaurant. The service is efficient and their customer service can be considered good despite the large crowd too. Let's go straight to the food comments. For Kimmy's Japan Stone Grilled Seafood Rice, it was very nice indeed. It consists of rice, egg, Unagi, Golden Mushroom, Squid, Crab Sticks, Peas, Kimchi and many more. Please see pictures. I've tried some too and found out this meal is good too and the portion is pretty big as well. It's delicious considering the food is well cooked and served hot as well. For the Super Bowl Of Rice that was ordered by myself, it was just nice and nothing special about it. It consists of rice, egg, sausages, chicken wings, pork luncheon and many more served with mini corn as well. It was nice and it's suitable for me as well as the portion is quite big as well. The bill came and the price is about RM34.20 (with service charge). The price is reasonable considering that the portion is big and the food is overall nice as well. I would recommend you to try out their new outlet here if happens you are at 1 Utama for shopping and this is the place that you wanted to be here for lunch. It was a cozy restaurant and the environment was fresh and nice too. Again, their food is above average to good too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Cinema Movie: Petaling Street Warriors (大英雄•小男人)

Synopsis:

Little did he know that he is in possession of a lost treasure map linked to the Qing Dynasty and must refrain himself from consummating his marriage to master the "Virgin Kung Fu" skills to overcome his opponents.

My Comments: It had been such a very long time that I've been to cinemas to catch a movie because both of us are busy and in the same time we are busy shopping as well until we do not have time to catch a movie. Finally today we manage to spend some time in cinemas although we are on a shopping spree Sunday again. This time, I've watched Petaling Street Warriors (大英雄•小男人) at GSC 1 Utama. This movie is a local movie with the combination of Malaysian and Singaporean artists and with the combination of both, this movie set to be one of the good locally made martial arts between Malaysia and Singaporean history. With the local director and a Hong Kong action director, the martial arts in this movie had improved tremendously but still there's a lot of room for improvement.

This movie was filmed in Ipoh, Perak in one of the ancient streets of Ipoh and it was then acted by a bunch of famous actors including Mark Lee, Namewee, Chris Tong, Henry Thia and many more. I guess we do not need to introduce this artist anymore as they are famous in your eyes. This movie talks about martial arts and a story of a few thousands of years ago where it was then ruled by Qing Dynasty and many of the enemy's are hunting for the treasure map which linked to the Qing Dynasty. Then Mark Lee have to fight for his life to save himself and can he survive? At at end of the movie, do catch some funny scenes where he acted with a lot of kungfu idols such as Bruce Lee, IP Man, Wong Fei Hong and many more. This movie mostly gives you 90% of laughter and I guess you will simply enjoyed the jokes at this movie and the storyline meanwhile was well documented as well although it still have some leakage where in some scenes, it's not so logic. This movie has a little similarity as Kungfu Hustle that was acted by Stephen Chow previously. Overall, I would recommend you to watch this movie in cinemas as I would classified this movie as above average to good too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING 4/5

Food Hunt: Jojo Little Kitchen, The Strand, Kota Damansara

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt on a lovely Sunday afternoon. This time, we have chosen Jojo Little Kitchen as our choice and their specialty here is actually the Pan Mee where there are a lot of different kinds of soup and dry Pan Mee to choose from and I've received a lot of feedback that this restaurant serves one of the best Pan Mee in town. Without any hesitation, both of us had decided to go and try it out. This is Jojo's Little Kitchen 6th Branch Opening.

We reached the restaurant at about 1.15pm and the restaurant is almost full. It's the lunch hour and no doubt about it that the restaurant is filled with people and furthermore, the restaurant is pretty small so it cannot occupied a lot of people too. We managed to get a seat and then we take a look at the menu and we found out that there's a lot of varieties and choices of Pan Mee. We take a closer look on our Pan Mee choices and finally it took us about 10 minutes to find out the conclusion on what we wanted to eat. I've chosen the Herbal Chicken Soup Pan Mee (RM8.00) while Kimmy had selected the Traditional Hand Made Pan Mee (RM6.50). For drinks, I've ordered Honey Lemon Ice (RM4.50) while Kimmy ordered the Hot Chrysanthemum Tea (RM2.50).

It does not take long for the food to arrive despite a lot of people in the restaurant. The Herbal Chicken Soup Pan Mee is a must try in this restaurant and it's one of the specialty in this restaurant. Once it arrive, you can smell the herbal aroma and it was simply marvelous. I can't wait to try it out and it does not dissapoints me as well. The taste was simply good and fantastic. The mee was good combined with the tasty herbal soup and it was very nice indeed. For Kimmy's Traditional Hand Made Pan Mee, it was just normal and it's above average. The soup was nice too. For the drinks, the Honey Lemon Ice was nice as well as the Hot Chrysanthemum Tea too as it was not too sweet. Worth of trying it but the best must go for the Herbal Chicken Soup Pan Mee.

The price meanwhile for me is quite standard and it's not expensive at all. We did enjoyed the food over there as well as the drinks too. The bill came and it costs us about RM20.00 and I think it's reasonable too. I will pay my next visit over here again next time considering the food is simply fantastic and great too. During my next visit, I vowed to try out other types of Pan Mee and I guess it would be as nice too. I would recommend you to come over here to try out the Pan Mee not only the Kota Damansara branch but do also visit their other branches nearest to you to try out their Pan Mee. No regrets!
