Food Hunt: Sakae Sushi, Sunway Pyramid

Hi All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt on Valentines Day. It was indeed a good day for us as it was the most romantic day of the year and we have decided to dine in at Japanese Restaurant. We've also take a look at our pockets as most of the western restaurant are offering sets up to RM70 - RM100 per person and I rather try it next time but not for today. Even Kimmy had also agreed that we have Japanese Food because it's her favorite restaurant too. Once we arrived at the restaurant around 7.00pm, the restaurant already had crowded and we have to queue to get our seats. After we queue about 15 minutes, the queues become longer and longer and up to 1KM long.

Once we get out seat, we were immediately served and of although the restaurant is full with people, the service is rather very promising and wonderful. I love their service over there. Thumbs up. Alright. Let's go straight to what we've ordered. The main course that we've ordered would be Chicken Shiogayaki Donburi and Sakae Chawanmushi. We've ordered several sushi's as well such as Ebikko, Kakiage, Tuna Sushi and many more. The Chicken Shiogayaki Donburi is a must try at Sakae Sushi as it was nice and tasty. The rice is not dry and it really suits my taste as it was not too sweet as well. A great meal to kick off the valentines day. For the Sakae Chawanmushi, it was rather nice as well. It was made from fresh Tauhu and was eventually served at a small cup with mushrooms. Do try this both dishes out when you are Sakae Sushi. For the Unagi Temaki and California Temaki, the portion was pretty small and the taste was just average.

The price meanwhile was just nice. The bill came and the totaled billed would be RM51.00 plus tax as the government service tax had increased to 6% recently. The food we've ordered would be 2 main course meal and 8 plates of sushi with different prices and 2 cups of cold Genmai Green Tea. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

*Food & Drinks Rating are based on the food & drinks we've ordered and not overall food & drinks.

Festival: Happy Valentine's Day 2011

May God Bless Your Relationship Forever!

This is a special message from alexleow-kimmy.com whereby we would like to wish all a Happy Valentine's Day. No matter you are married or single or already have a couple for yourself, you still can celebrate Valentine's Day too.

Normally, Valentine's Day is a day where couples meet up together and they will preferrably celebrated it during dinner time where they will normally dine in restaurants. But some prefer to dine at home where they will have candlelight dinner as well. Then the male will normally buy presents for their love ones including a bunch of flowers, a box of chocolates etc. Some say, during Valentine's Day, it a day to have sex together to strengthen the relationship. It vary and depends on the individuals.

For those who are single, you still can date your friends out for dinner as well. You may date your female or male friends where they don't have any programme or don't have any partners to go out for dinner. You won't know that you might end out with something pretty special after the outings. :) So why not give it a try yeah?

Beware that during Valentine's Day, the price will go up especially for dine in and for flowers. The prices will go up at least double of what you pay and you better be prepared for yourself. I mean you may save more money first before the day arrives whereby you must spend unless you have dine in at home. Enjoy yourself during your Valentine's Day.

________________________________________________________

My Comments: This would be my last movie for the Chinese New Year as it draws closed already. And before the end of it. ME & Kimmy had chosen GSC 1 Utama to catch the movie Mr. And Mrs. Incredible to watch and it really dissapoints me pretty much. The storyline of this movie are pretty sucks and it does not contains much laughter as well. It was a pretty boring movie and of course I felt it was yet another failure and silly movie from Vincent Kok. It does talk about martial arts but in between there are super powers in this movie which makes the movie irrelevant and should not happen. It was a more fantasy movie but I did not enjoy it because of the storyline. It's too simple and doesn't have any meaning after all and I was pretty bored but luckily I did not went for sleep. I would not recommend you to watch this movie as it was not as good as All Well End's Well 2011 and I Love HK. Enjoy! MY RATING: 2.5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3/5

Gathering & Food Hunt: Restoran Summer Park, Mukim Bukit Tinggi, Bentong, Pahang

Hi All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of the Food Hunt and today our KTC Group had gathered again in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations. Every year without fail, we will be organizing this event as we get to gather around for this great and happening event. This time, we had travel about 80KM to Bukit Tinggi (through & flow) to have our precious dinner over there. This year, our attendance would be just nice as we missed out Chai and Yen Nee as both of them unable to attend due to personal reasons. Among them who turned up for the dinner including Jason, May, Stanley, Kevin, Chloe, Sai Kit, Yen Peng, Yen Sim, Kimmy & ME.

Thanks to our organizer Ah May! We do have a wonderful time over there and of course the food that we've ordered and most of us enjoy the food over there. We've ordered 7 dishes including:

1.) Vegetables (RM10 approx.)
2.) Long Beans Vegetables (RM10 approx.)
3.) 'Patin' Fish (RM156.00) (1.8KG)
4.) Curry Mountain Pig (RM18.00 approx.)
5.) 2 Big Headed Prawn (RM192.00 approx.) (2.4KG)
6.) Pig Intestine Soup (RM28.00)
7.) Ketchup Chicken (RM15.00)

Overall the dishes that we've ordered are pretty nice and great too. I love all the dishes that was recommended by Ah May and some by the restaurant operator as well. The dishes that our members liked most is the 2 Big Headed Prawn where it's large in quantity and the flesh was nice and looked very fresh too. The same also goes to the Ketchup Chicken as well. For ME, I would say I love the Curry Mountain Pig, the prawn, the 'Patin' fish and the Ketchup Chicken were among those I love to eat during the dinner. We did not ordered 'Lou Sang' this year as we forgot to do so! Do not laugh at us as we really forget as we only know we wanted to try out the seafood over here. Haha!

Long Beans

Ketchup Chicken

Vegetables

Pig Intestine Soup

Curry Mountain Pig

Patin Fish

2 Headed Prawns (Body)

The bill came and the price was pretty cheap except for the Fish and the Prawn because both fish & prawn are well known to be expensive. The portion is very big and you will not get it in Kuala Lumpur based on the price you pay. The total bill came and it's around RM450.00 (7 dishes with 10 people). For normal dishes is very cheap. I would recommend you to come over here to try out the food perhaps if you are on the way Bentong or on your way back to Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant is located somewhere nearby Bukit Tinggi and it's just next to the BHPetrol Bukit Tinggi there. Just follow the Kampung Bukit Tinggi and Janda Baik roadsign and you will be able to find it along the Karak Highway. Enjoy! AVERAGE RATING: 4/5

* Food & Drinks Rating are based on the food & drinks that we've ordered and not overall food & drinks.

Address: Next to BHPetrol Bukit Tinggi @ Jalan Bukit Tinggi, Bentong Pahang. Located at Kampung Bukit Tinggi & Janda Baik. No Full Address Available. (Please See Map)

________________________________________________________

My Comments: This movie promises to be a hit among the Chinese Community as the TVB stars are back again for yet another big movie in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations. Of course, it would be the best of the best movie after 72 Tenants Of Prosperity that was shown last year. Directed by Eric Tsang and Chung Shu Kai, this movie continues to give you 100 minutes of non stop laughter and I can guarantee you that you will love it very much.

On the feedback that I've got, many people had reported that this movie is a real hit and many people love this movie particularly this movie is starred by their very own famous artistes from TVB. Today, finally I managed to spend some time alone watching this movie after my girlfriend Kimmy had managed to watch this movie somewhere last week. And their feedback were absolutely true this time. Once I watch this movie in the cinema, I was amazed by the storyline that mainly touches on the family welfare and the development of Hong Kong and its people. With the stars of Sandra Ng and Eric Tsang, besides talking about a more family movie, it also entertains us with laughter that is really unexpected and it's a brilliant and great job from them.

This is a movie that all of you should be waiting for and watch. I believe there are still many people who haven't watch this movie and I would totally recommend you to watch this movie. Do also bring your couples or families to watch this movie as it was great and fun to watch and if you are a TVB Drama fans, you will love it too as they will be some drama scenes being presented on this movie as well. Happy Chinese New Year and of course have fun! MY RATING: 5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5

Food Hunt: Strawberry Moments, De Garden Ipoh

Hello Folks,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt back in Ipoh again. As you know, Ipoh is a heaven of Food and of course it would be perfect to be fitted into my blog again. Yesterday I was there as recommended by my friend Joanne and she brought me to this restaurant. This is in fact a dessert restaurants where you can eventually find all their food are in strawberries. It's called Strawberry Moments and it's originally from Cameron Highlands and this is their branch in De Garden, Ipoh.

Once we reach there restaurant, we only managed to spend about an hour there because the restaurant is going to close as they are less customers that time. ME & Joanne reached there around 10.00pm as it was already very late. It closes at 11.00pm. Without wasting our time, we've ordered 2 cakes as our desserts and 2 glass of drinks. The cakes that we've ordered are Chocolate Indulgence & Tiramisu Mousse Cake (RM5.90 each) (please see pictures). For drinks, both of us ordered the Frosty Strawberry Juice (RM5.90 each).

The Chocolate and Cocoa cakes were marvelous and it was tasty indeed. But the cakes are pretty soft and if it's bit harder, then it would be more nicer. The taste are very tempting and there's a strawberry topping on top of the cakes. Simply love it! About the Frosty Strawberry Juice, it was very nice indeed too but it was very sweet. If the sweetness can be reduced, then it would be good for health. Overall, I love the food and drinks that Joanne had introduced to me and I wish to thank her for her kindness to treat me today.

It was a very nice environment inside there and I enjoyed it very much. The price of the food meanwhile was quite reasonable and not so expensive though. The bill came including tax would be RM24.80 and we had a great time there enjoying the cakes and the strawberry smoothies. Besides the food we've ordered, there are lots of desserts which are quite tempting which are sold inside the restaurant including Strawberry Mini Steamboat (Chocolate Fondue) (RM17.90), Tiramisu Mousse with Ice Cream (RM12.90), Strawberry Strudel (RM29.90) and many more. I would strongly recommend you to come over here to try out their strawberry desserts as it was very tasty and nice. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5 ; JOANNE RATING: 5/5

* Food & Drinks Rating are based on the Food & Drinks we've ordered and not overall food.

Food Hunt: Sun Marpoh Restaurant (孖寶海鮮飯店), Ipoh Garden

Gong Xi Gong Xi!

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where this time ME & my family all gathered together to have lovely and good food at Ipoh. Ipoh is very famous for its great food and everyone outside Ipoh would love to come here. And to make things more interesting, I would recommend you to this restaurant where a lot of people would have probably know it and this restaurant is very famous among the KL and Penang people where it's their must come destination during their visit to Ipoh.

The Restaurant I am talking about is actually Sun Marpoh Restaurant in Ipoh Garden. This restaurant serves the best dish in Ipoh town and you must try it if you haven't come here before. You can order ala carte dishes where most of the dishes are good and of course there are some dishes are SUPER good as well and you need to try. Also do remember that you need to go there early (around 6.00pm) to get your place especially during the weekends or if not you would have to wait for an hour or so to be seated as it was very crowded especially during festive season or weekends. The dishes that I recommend to you would be:

1.) Curry Fish Head (5 STAR)
2.) Assam Pari Fish (5 STAR)
3.) KWAI FEI Tauhu (4 STAR)
4.) NAI BAK Vergetables (4 STAR)

5.) Herbal (Yok Choi) Chicken (5 STAR)

6.) YEE SANG (4 STAR) (Only available during Chinese New Year)

7.) MARMITE Chicken (4 STAR)

8.) Yam Slick with Pork (4 STAR)

9.) Fu Yi Yau Mak Vegetables (5 STAR)
10.) Lemon Chicken (4 STAR)

Please be informed that there will be limited choices during Chinese New Year especially the ala carte dishes because they are currently running the SET Promotion for Chinese New Year. Frankly, in previous years, I've tried their SET Promotion and the food wasn't that tasty but I do not know as for know because it has been 3 years that I did not try their SET promotion already. But you can go for a try perhaps.

You can also ask for their chef recommendations as they will introduce to you some nice food (besides the food that I recommend above) over there and you'll never regret. The price meanwhile was reasonable (not during Chinese New Year) and for 4 dishes you ate, it will costs you around RM50 (2 Vegetables, 1 Fish Head / Pari Fish and 1 Pork or Chicken + Drinks as well). It's very reasonable and not expensive too. Once again, I would recommend you to come over and try out the food over here as it was superb and wonderful. Enjoy your meal! MY RATING: 5/5

* Food & Drinks Rating are based on the food & drinks we've ordered and not overall food & Drinks.

My Comments: Gong Hei Fatt Choy! Happy Chinese New Year folks. Today ME & Alan had catched the first movie after the brand new year which is All Well Ends Well 2011 (最強喜事). This time, since we are back to our hometown in Ipoh, we have selected TGV Kinta City in Ipoh to watch this movie. It had been a while since I watch movies there and guess what, this cinemas had been renovated and it's now had the standard same like the cinemas in Kuala Lumpur. Very recommended to watch movie there now for Ipoh people.

Let's go straight to the movie comments. This movie has given me a big surprise after I've heard a lot of negative comments about this movie. Many people had openly criticize this movie but after I watch this movie, I was shocked to learned that it wasn't bad after all and it was a great movie to laugh too. The storyline meanwhile was pretty organized too as we had expected what is the outcome as you watched the movie, you would have guess how will the ending be. It was a great and entertain movie to watch especially this Chinese New Year and I can tell you, you will laugh all the way off your seats for the past 100 minutes and it was simply fun. You may bring your family to watch this movie and I am sure they will love it too. With the famous artists that star in this movie including Donnie Yen, Louis Koo, Carina Lau, Chapman To, Angela Baby, Wong Pak Ming; I can say this movie is the Chinese New New Year movie of the year 2011. I would recommend you to watch this movie as it was great, fun and will entertain you from the start till the end of the movie. Enjoy! MY RATING: 5/5; ALAN RATING: 4/5

Festival: Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai (恭喜发财)

Hi,

Season Greetings yet again from alexleow-kimmy.com and this time the whole Chinese community would celebrate the year of the Rabbit in bizzare fashion. I & Kimmy would like to take this golden opportunity to wish all the Tionghua community a Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai (恭喜发财), Wan Shi Ru Yi (万事如意) & Zhu Li Meng En (主里蒙恩)!

Chinese New Year is celebrated in mostly Asian country including Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries as well. In Malaysia, Chinese New Year was celebrated in a joyous and wonderful mood. On the eve of the Chinese New Year, family will get together to enjoy the reunion dinner which symbolizes harmony, peace and gathering. Besides that, the Chinese Community would hang tanglung, 'ong lai' (pineapple), flowers as their decorations at their homes which symbolizes good luck and prosperity.

Childen will be the happiest among all during Chinese New Year because they will get an angpow for the eldest who have already get married. Besides, those who haven't get married will get an angpow too. Cookies and other drinks will be served during Chinese New Year as it marks the new year celebration in a bang! The most famous dishes among the Chinese during the Lunar New Year is 'Yee Sang' or 'Lou Sang'. This is a raw fish filled with different vegetable mince where we get to mixed together which symbolizes everything is good throughout the new year (see pics).

Here is my personal message whereby if you are travelling on the road, please drive carefully and stay focus on the road. Don't drink and drive too. Drive slowly and don't rush yourself because your family is waiting for you at home wanting you to return home safely. Enjoy yourself during this festive season and remember to drink more water to keep yourself healthy on a hot chinese new year. Happy Reunion Dinner and Happy Tiger Year to you all. Stay tuned on my blog for more latest Chinese New Year activities happening throughout this week.
