Food Hunt: Hainan Tea Garden, Setia City Mall, Setia Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt. We are in a food marathon at the moment as we have been doing this for a couples of days now due to a long weekends and holidays. Today, we end our food marathon for the week to dine in at Hainan Tea Garden located at Setia City Mall, Setia Alam. It was already 3.00pm now and since we have a late breakfast, we take our lunch at this hour. As at 3.00pm, the restaurant is almost fully packed and the staff working there is very less today due to public holiday and even the boss and their family members helping each other that day.

Hainan Tea Cold (RM4.90)
It's not because on lunch break it's packed but it's almost tea time and that is why the restaurant is packed as well. They are having a brisk business there as well. We browse through the menu and find out that there's a lot of variety of Asian food to choose from just like Oldtown White Coffee concept. But do also bear in mind that not many food are available and I've try before to order the food I wanted to eat but then it's sold out or not available. I guess this is not the correct way as they should have serve the customers based on the menu. I was quite dissapointed but at the ended settle to eat something else. The same goes to Kimmy as well.

Honey Lemon Cold (RM5.30)
We've ordered 2 bowls of Hainan Noodles Soup (RM9.90) and for drinks, we've ordered Hainan Tea Cold (RM4.90) and Honey Lemon Cold (RM5.30). It does not take very long for the food to arrive despite the huge crowd and let's go straight to the food comments. The Hainan Noodles Soup was just so-so and it's so tasteless but luckily the soup is nice. Furthermore, there's no chilli sauce or any sauce to dip together with the mee and it was so dull. I can taste slight bitterness of the mee as well. You can just imagine that. On top of that, it comes with the chicken as well as it's suppose to be the white chicken but it's sold out so it was substituted by roasted chicken. Surprisingly, the roasted chicken is very nice and this enhances the taste of the mee that looks dull. However, I would like to give praise to its drinks. The Hainan Tea Cold is very nice and it's tasty. For you coffee lovers, you would love this coffee as it's pretty 'kaw kaw' too. The Honey Lemon Cold was also very nice indeed with a good honey taste and both the Honey and Lemon ingredients fit perfectly too. Nice!

Hainan Noodles Soup (RM9.90)
For the price we pay RM33.00 including Service Charge of 10% is really expensive. Furthermore, for the price we pay, we did not get the exact portion we want as the portion is just so-so only. The drinks are slightly overcharged as well. Just for the food and drinks, I would still recommend you to come over and try out the food but just in mind that if you are willing to pay for the price of food justified by the portion and the quality of the food as well. Luckily the drinks are nice as well as the roasted chicken was nice too and this adds more points to our meal. Enjoy! MY RATING: 3.5/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3.5/5

* Food & Drinks Rating are based on the food & drinks we've ordered and not overall food & drinks.
