Food Hunt: Khuntai Restaurant, Desa Aman Puri, Kepong (UPDATE 2)

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt where ME & Kimmy had once again visited Khunthai Restaurant located at Desa Aman Puri since November 2010 and it was barely a year plus ago. It had been such a long time that we've been to this place and after hearing Kimmy's suggestion that this restaurant had improved a lot compared to last so I would love to give it a try once again.

We reached the restaurant at about 7.30pm and the crowd had started to fulfill the tables of the restaurant but still there are places available for us to sit. We sat inside the restaurant and we found out that it's much more cooler compared than you sit outside. We were immediately served with the menu despite the large crowd and the service is very good indeed. Firstly, the waitress had told us to order the drinks first and we do not have much time to think and we just glance through the menu and I've decided to drink Coke (RM 2.50) while Kimmy ordered Chinese Tea Ice (RM0.50). After we order the drinks, then we proceed to order the main course which is the Thai Food. We are amazed by the varieties of food served and finally after looking at the menu for about 10 minutes, we ordered A Mixed Seafood Tom Yam (Small) (RM19.00), Nameless Chicken (Small) (RM10.00) and Stir-Fried Asparagus (Small) (RM15.00). Then for rice, we ordered a bowl of rice that can served up to 2 persons (RM1.20 per person).

It does not take very long for the food to arrive and upon the food reach our table, both of us would take a spoon and try out the tom yam soup. The Mixed Seafood Tom Yam soup was very nice indeed and it was extra spicy too. It was very hot and I had a tough time dealing with the spicy tom yam soup and as usual the sweat coming out from my head. Well, although it was spicy, but it's extremely nice and recommended to order. Although we ordered a small portion but it appeared to be big and just nice for 2 people with maximum satisfaction. The Nameless Chicken was fried into perfection and the taste was simply lovely. It was nice and if you eat it together with the chilli sauce given, the taste is much more tasty and nice. Finally is the Stir-Fried Asparagus where the taste is nice especially it's served with the 'sambal' sauce. However the Nameless Chicken and the Stir-Fried Asparagus portion is pretty less and the price is pretty expensive as well.

Overall, the food can be considered nice but the dish small portion is really small and the price is not reasonable at all except the Tom Yam Soup. Well, it's still can be considered quite expensive for the food we've ordered and the bill came around RM49.60 and closing to RM50.00 for 3 dishes including the Mixed Seafood Tom Yam soup with an exceptional less portion of other 2 dishes. I hope they can improve either on their pricing or the portion of the food too. Other than that it's fine and good too. I would still recommend you to come over here to try out the Thai Food over here as it's tasty and nice too. Enjoy! MY RATING: 4/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 5/5.
