Food Hunt: Shumatsu Buffet at Eyuzu Japanese Cuisine, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya

Hello All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and today ME & Kimmy had visited the Shumatsu Buffet at Eyuzu Japanese Cuisine right here at Eastin Hotel, Petaling Jaya. We've got promotion for dine in as we only pay RM46.00 per person for a Japanese Buffet and I guess we should have a great time and day enjoying our food over there. The original price per person for this Japanese Buffet should be RM82++ per person. We reached there at about 6.30pm and the crowd had started to build up and many of them had waited outside the restaurant. We are allowed to on in at about 6.35pm and the crowd started to fill up the table. We manage to get our table as we reserved earlier on. As at 8.00pm, the restaurant is already packed with lots of people and some of them have to sit outside.

The choices of the sushi seems to be just fine and I would say it's lesser than Tenji Japanese Buffet but overall the choices are better than Tao's Japanese Buffet. For the sashimi portion, it also looks pretty limited too. For the choices of tempura, udon, soba and other mee, it looks moderate and quite a number of choices as well. For the grilled and sauce chicken, unagi etc. the choices is also very limited. I would say the desserts served at Eyuzu seems to be the best and there's quite a lot of variety to choose from. The fruits meanwhile also have limited choices as it only have watermelon, honey dew, dragon fruit and oranges.

Now, let's talk about the quality of the food served at Eyuzu Japanese Restaurant. The quality of the food looks slightly dissapointed as the quality seems not up to the standard yet. Let's take an example where the rice of the sushi is not as tasty as it is and I expected more from their sushi's as this is a basic dish that is of course symbolic for Japanese Buffet. The sashimi's looks pretty normal and nothing special about it. I would say the baby octopus served is the best among all as it was marinated with a juicy sauce. For the grilled and sauced chicken and unagi, it's was pretty nice but still not up to the standard just yet. It was served quite cold as they should have something to keep it warm to make the food more fresh and delicious. I did not try the udon or soba mee there. The oyster meanwhile was just so-so and I don't understand why they served cooked oyster instead of non cooked particularly the oyster is not fresh on that day? Nobody knows.

The desserts served there was also pretty nice too. The cakes especially gives me at least some average smiles on the face as it was nice and tasty. It definitely good quality compared to other buffet outlets and there's a lot of varieties to choose from too. The fruits are very juicy and sweet and it was nice too but too limited choices as stated above. Last but not least, I found out that the Ice Cream was also another letdown. The brands says it all as the served King's Ice Cream and that's not the worst where they only served 3 types of Ice Cream including Yam, Corn and Strawberry. Where the hell is my chocolate ice cream? I was not amazed with the choices of Ice Cream served there.

If you pay RM82.00++ for this buffet, it was a totally letdown and I would say it's pretty expensive. With the quality and quantity of food served, it was never satisfying and I guess many people would never go back there again. Perhaps, I receive a lot of good comments regarding the quality of food in this restaurant which was pretty good but it was otherwise when I try it today. Both of us left the restaurant not dissapointed but still with an average smile on the face too. We both had an enjoyable meal and my stomach was very full indeed. I would not recommend you to come over to try out Eyuzu but instead I would recommend you to pay more or some outlets even less to go other Japanese Buffet Outlets such as Tenji, Jogoya or Tao's because their buffet are much more nicer than Eyuzu. Furthermore, Eyuzu only serves all Japanese buffet during weekends (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) only. Enjoy! MY RATING: 3/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3/5
