Food Hunt: Restoran Hometown Steamboat (好家乡火锅世家), Bandar Manjarala

Dear All,

Welcome back to yet another edition of Food Hunt and we continued our journey here with fabulous food journey around the Klang Valley. We have found this steamboat restaurant and it's a newly open steamboat outlet here in Bandar Manjarala. Introducing the Hometown Steamboat (好家乡火锅世家) Restaurant where ME & Kimmy had visited last night. It was so packed as early as 6.30pm in the evening and we have to wait to be seated although we only need to wait for about 10 minutes before we're being served. We sat in front of the entrance of the restaurant and since it was so packed, it was very hot and then we eat in front of the patrons who are waiting for their seats and it's very pressured as well. My message to you is do not select the seats near to the entrance of the restaurant.

We browse through the menu and then we found out there's a lot of food selection to choose from and my another advice to you is do come in groups as you can eventually try a lot of food besides their signature steamboat meal. Their servings of food includes steamboat, different types of fish with different flavours, ice-cream fondue, fruits fondue, vegetables and many more. We've ordered the normal set (RM15.50 per person) as our entry try as we wanted to test on their freshness of the food as well the soups. For soups, we've ordered the 'ching tong' & tom yam soup. There are several steamboat set for you to choose from and the price ranging is between RM15.00 to RM17.00 and you can choose the normal steamboat set, seafood etc. For drinks, I've ordered Coca Cola (RM2.50) while Kimmy ordered the Sea Coconut drink (RM2.50). It does not take very long for the food to arrive and let's go straight to the food reviews.

The steamboat ingredients looks fresh and to be frank the portion is big.We ordered set for 2 persons and then it looks like it can cater at least 3 persons to be exact. The soup meanwhile is just average. If we do the simple comparison with Tai Tao and Happy City Steamboat, this steamboat is below par as these two. The 'ching tong' soup is just normal and nothing special while the Tom Yam is lack to sweet and sourness but it's very heavy taste of spiciness.

Ice Cream / Fruits Fondue

The price meanwhile is reasonable and it's not expensive and what I can say is pretty cheap based on the big portion we've got. We pay RM36.00 for all including drinks and this is without any government or service charge tax. Unfortunately the soup is just average but still acceptable. The freshness of the seafood ingredients is acceptable too. Despite with some pro and cons reviews, I would still recommend you to come over here to try out the steamboat set over here and not forgetting, if you come in groups, do give us some feedback on other food you tried as well. I have to admit you can just try limited food with 2 persons just like us who went to try today. Enjoy! MY RATING: 3/5 ; KIMMY RATING: 3/5
